Thanks for sharing that story of a part of your life. It made me think of a quote, which I couldn't remember so I had to look it up. "You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending". You and your family have made a great start on that change!

Thanks for sharing Gary. I did similar distancing from friends and family before coming out at 30! Now 77, I see it wasn’t really necessary, but it’s all part of the process, isn’t it? Enjoyed this.

Hi Gary, thanks for sharing that very moving story and experience with us. I’m glad your mom eventually came around and that your niece and her family are so accepting. It’s nice to know that some things do actually changed with time. I kept hoping you would mention if your niece and her family were Republicans or Democrats. If they are Democrats, then it’s not that surprising that they would be accepting. If they are Republicans then that’s even more amazing. Very, very happy for you! 😊👍
