In this video I mention that you don't need to add elastic to the center cutout/waistline, but I've since changed my recommendation and I DO suggest adding elastic to this area. As with all my patterns, cross reference with the written directions because those can be updated throughout the years whereas the videos do not get updates!

It’s an elastic foot yes! I recommend finding one made by your machine’s manufacturer, or at least one compatible with your machine :)

I’m not sure what they’re called but they’re the little net things that came with my serger! I never used to have an issue with the threads but for some reason my machine has been getting tangled all the time lately!

I recently got a Pfaff Ambition 620 that makes sewing swimwear SO easy, but my trusty Singer Heavy Duty 4423 served me well for some time :)

Yes, overall the suit would have a loose fit. The pattern is designed to be used with elastic, so if it's not used you might run into issues! That being said, I know many of my customers don't use elastic and they love it. Ultimately it's up to you but I'd recommend experimenting with both!
