You should see it in summer !! Barely can see the sand on the beach with 40 km stalled road from Alexandria entering Matrouh , you're there in the best time of the year , I wish I was there and met you to show you some off road fantastic places , true it's not touristic to fireigners but it's one of the most popular and affordable summer destinations for Egyptians .
The part next to the beach is not bad, but the city and facilities are desperate. This year, for the first time, our travel agencies here in Serbia are taking a hotel chain from Dubai to this place. But I'm not sure if that city is the right choice.
Hi Michael, thanks for asking! I wasn't following any particular budget for this trip, but I generally travel quite frugally. In total I averaged close to US$15 per day, and that includes a handful of more expensive activities. Accommodation, transportation and food are all inexpensive in Egypt. I also occasionally wild-camped for free which saved a bit of money.
I went to Matruh 5 times and visited many beaches there, and I think you missed a lot of wonderful beaches by not visiting them. Next time, take someone who knows the town with you to show you the places you should not miss.

Marsa matrouh is not an abandoned town its a traffic town bro its full of traffic jams or should I day all of Egypt BUT I still love it (Im Egyptian)

These days I almost always use the Booking app. The more accommodations you book, the more discounts you get 😉
