I went on a tour of an olive oil processing plant in Italy. It had been family owned for generations, their trees were hundreds of years old. The owner was very passionate about the pain staking process it takes to extract the oil, especially with the oil being cold pressed. He insisted that once the oil is heated during cooking, not only does it undo all their meticulous work to cold process it, but that it becomes toxic in the body. He said EVOO should only be consumed room temperature as dressing on food or salads to maintain its nutritional integrity. Made sense to me. Just something to consider.
For people with food and ingredient allergies, not listing the exact last 2% on label in US products can be felt as false advertising or more so inaccurate unsafe labeling, when after eating things you feel unwell.

Reminds me of a tub of margarine or spread I saw once. I think it was Country Crock, I don't remember. It said No Transfats on the front, and on the back, it said hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated vegetable oil. If I'm not mistaken, those are transfats, and maybe they didn't think anyone would notice.
I remember working at McDonalds when I was a teen. Fries and nuggets were fried in Beef Tallow.... Big blocks of it were put in the deep friers. Things tasted better too
To McDonalds credit they switched following the advice of the time. I think it was the late 70s. Turns out the advice was wrong. I switched several years ago to butter, ghee or lard and it does taste so much nicer 🙂
Their fries were so much better then, I believe they had to quit using tallow, because the vegans and vegetarians raised hell when they found out the fries weren't completely vegetarian.
Im old enough to remember food being fried in animal fats, then the government started to push seed oils , they also started to push margarine in place of real butter . A work colleague informed me that margarine is a by product of the oil industry .
About ten years ago at 49 years old I started to swell badly. I was suffering from ischemic cardiomyopathy (coronary artery disease). There were many reasons for this, most contributory was my diet. After open-heart surgery, I learned much about diet and removed seed oils completely from my diet and use only olive oil and avocado oil when cooking. About a year after starting this, my cholesterol started dropping below the amount that it was stabilized at with meds. I attribute this to this change in diet. This is an excellent video!! I am surprised there isn't more professionals informing the public this way. Thanks!
My cholesterol dropped and my health increased when I substituted seed oil for tallow. Yes, TALLOW! Sounds crazy but it's absolutely true. It makes sense. 100 years ago, nearly everything was fried in tallow and people were far healthier when it came to nourishment. What good most did with their eating habits was negated by excess drinking or smoking. Tallow was why thirty years ago McDonald's fries and Kentucky Fried Chicken tasted so good. Then tallow for the fries was substituted with vegetable oil and had to include another thirty other ingredients just for the fries to emulate tallow-cooked fries. KFC was never the same.

Dr Berg notes: Seed oils are polyunsaturated fatty acids. Vegetable oil is actually seed oil-it doesn’t come from vegetables. Seed oils go through industrial processing involving heating and the addition of solvents like hexane, a chemical found in gasoline. This process allows seed oils to be shelf-stable for long periods of time. Around 25% to 30% of our calories come from seed oils. When you cook processed foods like donuts in seed oils, you’re combining sugar with fat and heat. This process, called glycation, creates sticky proteins in the body. Fast food oil is reheated and reused repeatedly. The more it’s heated, the more toxic it becomes. Seed oils were not originally created for human consumption. They’re incredibly damaging to the mitochondria and lead to insulin resistance, fatty liver disease, obesity, heart disease, and an increased risk for cancer. Soybean oil causes the most damage to the body, followed by corn oil, sunflower oil, and canola oil. Healthier cooking oils for frying include avocado oil, coconut oil, palm oil, olive oil, beef tallow, butter, and ghee. Keep in mind it's best to cook over low or medium heat. Pan-frying, air-frying, and stir-frying are healthier options than deep-frying over high heat. Thank you Dr Berg! 😺👍

Switched to coconut oil years ago. The process of making coconut oil is really simple. We heat coconut milk (pressed out from coconut flesh), and the liquid would separate into water and oil. If we cool the oil part, it would thicken so much like butter, opaque white in colour. No chemical or pressure is needed in the process.
In the 1970's the cooking oil industry mounted a HUGE campaign against the coconut oil industry that sowed disinformation claiming that coconut oil was unhealthy. Much of that info still lingers in the American psyche.
Go for cold pressed. In the process you stated, you are still heating the oil and killing all the nutrients. In the cold press method, dry coconut is pressed (not blended) with minimum friction, and it releases oil. So, when you cook with that oil, that is the first time the oil gets heated and nutrient loss is minimal.
@@anandharshal22 i think what you described is method for virgin coconut oil (VCO). I agree it is the best method but probably too expensive for cooking oil. I have switched almost exclusively to clarified butter. I’d be good with lard if I render it myself but have a problem is getting the fat to render as I don’t go to the butcher. I have bought pork loins with a big fat cap that I can render and have made a pie once to try to see how well to use it. I use clarified butter, butter without the milk solids, in almost everything as it’s just easier to get the raw ingredients, I clarify it myself. There was a big university study about healthy oils for consumption unheated and their heated byproducts. Avocado oil for high temperature. Olive oil for low temperature around boiling point of water. Butter is also fairly benign in medium heat. Anything else tends to be unhealthy cold or as partial combustion byproducts. Palm oil and beef tallow are unsustainable. Coconut oil is extremely unhealthy. The worst possible oil would be to use rapeseed oil; it's only for seasoning cast iron pans.

Olive oil is not healthy. It's been proven by a specialist hospital that tests foods that olive oil is ok when used cold in salad dressing etc but becomes unhealthy and slightly toxic when heated. It's only popular because olive oil and garlic are pushed by celebrity chefs who can't even boil an egg or make toast without olive oil and garlic.

Dr Berg notes:
Seed oils are polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Sesame seed oil (and tahini) is a type of oil that is fine for some people to consume in small amounts every now and then, as long as it's cold-pressed and organic.
The AirFryer is great. We have 2 of them and i can't beleive they took so long to invent them. We now use them for almost every cooking
We "fry" in our air fryer, too. Little if any oil required. When used, it's just lightly sprayed on the food, not drowning it.
@@brianfoster7064 We now use parchment paper with our air fryer. This helps keepin them clean. Fish nuggets, chickens, potatoes. Parchment is very good.
They are great but not for steaks. They only get to 400° and by the time you get a nice crust the steak is overcooked lol.
Airfryers r poison teflon coated…..beWare….
love my airfryer too use it often for meats
Congrats on getting 12 Million subs, Dr. 🥂 Stay genuine. 🏆
I remember dr berg saying in one of his videos when he reached 10m, his new goal was 15m.
Ok. So it's yet another switcharound! First we had to give up lard, dripping, and butter, then hard margarine became taboo, and we were told to use oils for frying and soft margarines for spreading and baking. Then we're told soft margarine and seed oils are bad, but olive oil, ghee, avocado oil, palm oil and coconut oil are OK (no-one bothers to point out that all of these are hideously expensive, and only olive oil is readily available everywhere.). And now we're back to square one, and lard and butter are back in favour! I think I'll follow my own instincts, and continue to use all 'natural' fats, i.e. lard, butter, and olive oil. I never deep fry anyway, and I loathe fast food.
As a brit i just wanted to say that your sarcasm is top notch 😂
😂
Eat all the seed oils please clean the gene pool
@@RussiaisAriddle-ih6bg... show us the way first. 😅
@@jamesogden7756 They are. With all that vodka consumed, Russia is #1 for heart disease.
Germans used it a lot in ww1 and ww2 for their military equipment and cooking food all at once with seed oils.
Earlier my grandmother used ghee and seed oil was never used. Probably all the health issues nowadays are related to overuse of these seed oils. Hats Off to you to bring this knowledge to the light of day. I switched to olive and ghee
"use" not "over use". Simply USING seed oils is bad. Over use is just using it.
I prefer just regular lard.
Lard is absolutely amazing to fry chips/fries in. This was popular in 1970s uk for chip pans…best chips you’ll ever have.
Save my bacon fat too . Great for pan and stir fry . Adds a b it of flavor , and who don't like bacon !!!
@@garyhooper1820 agreed mate! I have a two pint tub of it int fridge
In biology I was lead to believe polyunsaturated fat was decent. Saffola was even better. But as you say, seed oils are poison. So I will endeavor to shift to avocado or butter or beef lard.the old standby olive oil still allows me to if I have a quarter to a half coffee mug full, a decent bowel movement when I am constipated. I will make an honest search for avocado or bacon grease or olive oil. Thanks Dr. No wonder I am easily frustrated, it's the seed oils fogging my brain. I will use up the last of my soy, olive oil and begin a new search. I am also now using cayenne pepper to unclog my arteries. I've quit smoking 10 years ago and try to drink only distilled water. I've switched to non fluoride non sacharine toothpaste. I do feel better since distilled water shift. Thank you Dr. Berg!
What a wonderful video! No ads, sponsors, or background music to mess with my 68-year old hearing. I was happy to watch this, as coconut oil is my go-to for everything, and I'm teaching my daughter and her family to eat healthy. She's on board, but man, is it expensive! So we're growing a garden. Thanks, you have a new subscriber~
Appreciate you watching the video, and welcome to our community!
Ghee has a very high smoke point of 485 degrees. Great video! 💚🎸
Good morning. Could you please do a video on endometriosis. I really appreciated the video on fibroids but I am also suffering from endometriosis. From Canada 🇨🇦

Your dry sense of humor and sarcasm at the beginning was hilarious!! I’ve tried explaining it to my mom and some friends like this- if you cook a vegetable, which ones produce fats/oils? None of them. So, there is zero reason you should EVER buy it, let alone consume it!
Sunflower seeds, among others
@@darkestkhan nuts and seeds aren’t considered veggies…
@@charityGFenc3 usually. Canola oil is actually rapeseed oil. It is made from seeds. Just like linseed, hemp, and sunflower oils. For whatever reason they are called vegetable oils in English.
Great video. Super informative. Love the end where you explain cooking (or not cooking) with oils. Thanks!!

This scientific explanation is really needed to explain to them.

Classic Berg! Favorite this! Congratulations, Dr. B & team, for the 12 million subscribers!
We are Australians, and we have been following Dr Berg now for about 3 years. Wow has this man changed our lives. But stop press- we have put over 20 people onto Dr Berg's videos and the list is growing. Every single one of them has now adopted his food philosophies. Well done Dr. Mr Berg - you have made so many of us much more healthier in our retired years. Thank you.

What about sesame seed oil and mustard seeds oil for cooking? Are they harmful too?
Check out this article: www.drberg.com/blog/good-fat-vs-bad-fats?queryID=b75adc52e83cf77c8d1a240b2c3e950f&objectID=blog_3756
Mustard oil is fine.
I love the sarcastic intros.
Was actually pan frying chicken thighs in my cast iron with my homemade ghee when this came on.
Had me chuckling anyway.
You should start a cooking/food prep channel. Subscribing now. ❤
I have got rid of all my seed oils now, i fry in a bit of lard or coconut oil and use olive in salads. Thank you for your videos, they are fantastic. Thanks.
Teow oil? Is teow animal fat?
You're absolutely welcome!
It’s fighting the culture we live in that’s the problem. I have 4 kids and we are very strict about juice/soda/candy/biscuits/chips etc but when they are surrounded by all this junk it causes huge arguments and behavioural issues when they are denied it. We get it less now as they have been used to it for years so they are used to their treats being strawberries and cream or dark chocolate hot chocolate with cream but so many celebrations are centred around unhealthy foods 😢
I can totally sympathize. Everything has been compromised and unless you are wealthy it’s near impossible to eat clean.
Bless you, may they grow to greatly appreciate your strict love for their health!😊
If you do well, you may have one spoon of honey on your after dinner fruit.
Consuming trash foods can also cause behavioral issues in my opinion 🤷🏼♀️ and they treated my husband’s ADD as a child in the 70s by removing preservatives and additives and colors instead of big pharm
I smashed the like button here. I'm worried of when I'll have kids in the near future hopefully, about the way I'm going to deal with this lol.
After reading several studies I switched to olive oil, or pure lard. Now I feel better, I have more energy and my food tastes better.
Vegetable oil makes the fires in my burn barrel look like bonfires. Bottle says soybean oil. I use bacon grease or butter for cooking
Thanks! Was wondering what to do with my trash oil.
TBF , bacon grease would make a fire burn bright too.
@@DOGOID so does motor oil, bacon grease also cures constipation, for humans and cats
@@pt6108 if you mix it with oatmeal, it is good for feeding birds
Yeah just the grease from meats sometimes enough especially bacon
The water pump we bought recommended to use "vegetable oil" after every use to keep it lubricated. It's still working flawlessly after a few years lol
Thanks dr. Berg, master lecture. Compliments to the graphics designer.
Most welcome!
I always enjoy your shows and you help me to keep on a 'straight path', thanks from Australia.
Hog Lard has a higher temperature tolerance to heat. My father was a fisherman. He always used hog lard to fry fish. It is sold in the same section as oils.
What is hog lard
Dr. Eric kindly makes a video on thyroid nodules releasing thyroid hormones and causing hyperthyroidism and also tells us how to shrink nodules.
I will have to find the video
@@deassfgh7807 Thank you very much, Dr. Eric talked about hyperthyroidism but not hyperthyroidism due to the secretion of thyroid hormones from nodules. I would appreciate it if you could find a video of Dr. Eric addressing this issue.
Chance of bad weather today is really high in a lot of areas. Stay informed and safe and have a plan. On the subject of oils I agree and keep seed oils out of my diet and learned long ago to cook low and slow when frying things in a pan. Or use a air fryer.
Check your frying pan after half a year of frying in vegatable oils. Covered in a sticky brown gunk. Do the same with saturated coconut fat. No issue at all. Says something about reheating PUFA oils several times. Linseed oil(PUFA) is heated several times to produce old style oilpaint.
Thanks Doctor, your videos are amazing and I love how you break things down to everyone's understanding💯
Using olive oil for cooking
Okay, very good.
These seed oils are killing us, and you are absolutely right dr. B . We love and appreciate all the hightlights.
i stopped the video at 0:35. Im a time saver. I am now drinking 2 litres of vegetable oil per day. Thank you Dr Berg.

@Dr. Berg please make a video on tattoos, immune system and guttate psoriasis (leaky gut)
Oh-oh.
I just got a tattoo... what's the bad news?
@@Avengedsevenfoldrocks not bad news, more like gray area. Immune system clears up Ink from tattoo, and it fades. And immune system becomes weak. People who have psoriasis have hyperactive immune system, and wanted to know how tattoos will affect in long term

Leaky gut is from ibuprofen and acdamenaphin . It kills the Velcro lining of the gut .
As a Journeyman Diesel Tech, I can say that what we use for doors, rollers, guides and seals looks and smells just like this oil shown here. At my home I have soaked rusted tools in this seed oil only to find it had the same effect as other commercial automotive lubes.
Thanks for sharing this information 😢. Those seed oils are no good for eating. Restaurants love to cook with them because they are cheap and save costs. But very unhealthy for eating. Thanks journeyman, all the best.
Wayback 2016 when i started doing groceries i also started buying Canola thinking that coconut oil is bad, i started having liver and gallbladder pain until 2022 i went back to coconut oil which is same price as canola in our country, slowly im having lesser pain together with some supplements i researched,, gotta thank this channel for some of the ideas i got to heal my gut
does the coconut oil in tubs count? or it has to be the bottles ones? Do you use it in every/any cooking?
I switched. Mainly I use my air fryer. For several reasons-it doesn’t heat up your home in the warm months. In all months it saves on electricity. Besides the fact that it’s much healthier. What a difference not using seed oils makes!
Full of teflon... another potential toxin. There's nothing that isn't bad.
@residentzero I know someone who had that problem. She said she thought it was from overcrowding the basket. I’m not an expert on air fryers but I do know you will have better results if you don’t try to cook too much food in them at one time. Less cook time. More thorough cooking.
Air friers have tons of teflon on them, whether that balances out the positives of not using lipids in your cooking is anyone's guess
Grear content, Dr Berg. Always love your sarcastic remarks in your videos. I stopped consuming deep fried foods and only using lard, beef tallow or butter for stir frying. Extra virgin olive oil is just for my salads. Thanks for your helpful advice ❤
