Thanks for watching and love to all! :)
To be fair Shawn Oakman was innocent it was false accusation
Not guilty=/=false accusation.
S P Smith he was found not guilty because of the false accusation
ESPN needed to throw the book at Big 12 Baylor so they could hide the institutional abuse from a lot of Big 10 schools. Ohio State, Michigan State, and Penn State all had much worse cover ups than Baylor, and they have really just swept it under the rug.
Baylor still gets the comments on national TV about their overblown scandal every game. Even though most of the investigations have turned out to be sluts regretting that they couldn't control themselves.
@@spsmith6919 lmao. The idea of innocent until proven guilty flew out the window years ago it looks like
Extraordinarily Basic thank you bro. u could not have said it better. Art briles got screwed over.

Fast forward to 2019 they are 7-0 with a potential to be 9-0 and play oklahoma at home.❕❕

I think Matt Rhule is the right coach to bring Baylor back up. Sure he went 1-11 last season, but Baylor was in some games. Liberty was a 3 point loss (To be fair Liberty was out to make a statement as it was their first game as an FBS transition program); UTSA was a 7 point loss, Oklahoma was a 7 point loss, and West Virginia was a 2 point loss. Remember he went an abysmal 2-10 his first year at Temple, but his last two seasons (was there for four) he won 10 games. And seeing as he's already suspended three players for a few games shows he's exactly what they need to hold the players accountable.
Thanks for your comment! I do agree, i thought he was a very good hire. Just had a really bad season last year. They should be in every game they play this year
I'm giving Baylor 4-6 wins this year, but if they spoil a few and win the 6 games I say are winnable. They very well could have 7-8 wins.
ReinSouls Guess we will see tomorrow what Matty boy can do
Damn good coach, real humble guy
A lot of the issues from last year arose from discontent between the Art Briles era players who were now playing for a coach who didn’t recruit them nor kept the promises that were made to them when they were high school recruits. Rhule is an incredibly hard coach to play for as is not “a players coach” in the sense that he is trying to be everyone’s best friend like Art was. Dudes a hard ass who seems to be making these players work harder than they have ever done so before in their lives. Will definitely take awhile for the culture change to come in full as Rhule does not field an entire group of players that he and his staff recruited.
The 2018 season was amazing considering that we went from 1-11 to 7-6
Black Thunder now they are 7-0
they are 8-0 ranked #12. They could win against oklahoma and the rest of the games for a chance in the playoffs.
Still Chill 9-0
@@danielgoss6367 9-1 ;)
But yeah, looking up. Rhule is a great coach. I just hope the other coach that had stupid good G5 teams that was promoted to a P5 school, Scott Frost, can actually fix Nebraska in a similar way. I am starting to lose hope on that front.
The Doom From Latveria
10-1 ;)
Who’s here in 2019 when they’re in the Sugar Bowl and ranked #7
Watching this video as we complete the season at 11-1, you really love to see it
Great video but you forgot to mention how Baylor won that athletic bowl running an offense with no actual qb and also stidham got hurt too! Just shows what potential they had before they squandered it
That game was crazy I think Johnny Jefferson had like 300 rushing yrds or something crazy like that
Yeah didn't they run the triple option or something the whole game? Maybe it was the Wildcat? My memory is foggy but I remember they had to change their offense around because they had no QB and they still won.
@@jacksonflowers2498 well they ran wildcat most of the time. I remember they had there WR Lynx Hawthorne take snaps in the shotgun as QB.
Running wildcat that whole game and still winning showed both the talent Baylor had, the capacity of Art Briles’ football IQ.
Art Briles was an amazing football mind. It's too bad he let all that crap go on at his program. He should have had better sense than that. Now no one will hire him.
Do one on Houston. They’re in an interesting and somewhat unfortunate position where no one wants them to join a P5 conference for fear of losing recruits to them (allegedly), and every time time they seem to strike gold with a coach, they’re picked off by other P5 programs (ex. Briles to Baylor, Sumlin to A&M, Herman to TX).
So they're caught in a Bruce Campbell type of limbo- people like them enough that they want them to succeed, but they're so nervous that the success would ruin them that they don't want them to succeed *too* much.

Mr. Adams I was wondering if you could do a story on the Colorado buff team under McCartney
Coach McCartney is one of my all time favorites! I assume you have seen the 30 for 30 on his colorado teams but if you haven't then you're in luck! Look up "THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MAC (30 for 30). It's a great story and probably one of my favorites.
I have a lot of video requests so far so i have to put that on the back burner right now, but since he sadly has alzheimer's (and god forbid this happens) but if he unexpectedly passed away then i would have to make a video instantly about him and it would be moved up to the number 1 spot no matter what im working on. He seems like such a great man and has had a interesting journey but his players loved him and he needs more respect.

The problem with UCLA is there quarterback play awful

@@noelcook2389 No it isnt. Their last 3 QBs are Hundley, Rosen, and DTR. Their problem is the lack of priority the football program has there.
@MrBlueD3V1L Yeah the 80's and 90's they were one of the top teams, whom almost made the championship game before choking to I believe Tennessee. I think they also had like an 8 game winstreak vs SC in that era.

@@ColeAdams I'm a TX fan but would love to see that video
Strange seeing the history of my school while I’m here. Good video though. 61-58 ALWAYS THO!
Daniel - The fastest way to anger a frog fan is to mention 61 - 57!!! They absolutely freak out over that 1 point. It's hilarious. They'll come out of the woodwork to remind others that their score was 58, not 57.
Nice to see the Bears at 11 - 1 and playing Zero U for the conference championship TOMORROW!!!
SIC 'EM BEARS!!!
Nice video! The reason Art Briles was a short time college assistant is because his winning reputation was already formed in the state of Texas. As a high school coach he reached legendary status by consistently winning state titles in Stephenville, near Ft. Worth.
I wouldn’t say Houston was, “desperate,” by hiring him. He was going to be hired by someone soon.
Are you going to add anything about how the "investigation" by Pepper Hamilton was paid for by the Board of Regents? Or that it's been determined that the football staff handled things how they were instructed? Or that Baylor University released a letter to any potential employers of Coach Briles stating that he had been found to have done nothing wrong? It's a nice summary video, but those details matter when looking at the "downfall" and who is actually responsible.
If Art Briles was still there at Baylor would be extremely relevant and dangerous. I’m at die hard Longhorns fan but I was happy when Baylor was competitive and even could have won a national title back in 2014 before injuries to there QB. Still love the Bears 🐻 though and hopefully they get another good head coach.
Leonel Lomas As somebody who just got into college football a year ago, im kinda jealous. I‘ve only known them as the horrible baylor football team.
@@TexasFreeBirds it's just one game, it'll be alright
We got one
Matt Rhule didnt build a powerhouse in a year but he built one in Temple watch out big 12 we will be back
@@TexasFreeBirds charlie and herman are wayyyy different. Herman is a good coach and is obviously able to connect with alot of these kids. Strong takes the fatherly approach. Im a fan of herman, i dont see him taking us to a national championship. For now he seems to have a ceiling of 10 to 11 wins. He is young though and hopefully he can improve. Im a huge fan though and herman was a great hire imo
I love your succinct and straight forward style. It’s all about the content and not about you and showing off how much you know. I’ve subbed to your channel man. I hope to see more great work coming from you
Thanks Frank! Thats how i roll! I just want to tell the story and give the information, nothing else! And i really appricate you noticing that because it makes me more confident as a creator that people are enjoying.
Everybody: nobody knows what Baylor is right now
Me: I know what they are 7-0
Baylor has at most 3 more weeks of being unbeaten.
Kc Nichols probably true
I remember when Baylor and Ohio State we’re back to back a few years ago
Its crazy how much can change so shortly!
You have a great UA-cam channel because very little focus is given to college football elsewhere in the sports & entertainment world. Usually it's all NFL, NFL, NFL-- which I loathe nowadays. I've noticed that lately, I'm not alone in my disgust of the NFL in recent years either. So please keep the channel's focus on college football. You've found the correct market to explore and develop!
I have a video suggestion for you as I've looked online for videos and articles on this subject and have found nothing anywhere. Be the first to address this subject.
Do a video on "The Decline of Notre Dame Football". Explain to us how what used to be the greatest CFB program of all time can no longer make that claim with Alabama having slungshot past them; how what was once the most prestigious CFB school in America has become an afterthought nationally with zero appeal among elite high school recruits these days.
I remember back when I was growing up Notre Dame was universally considered the #1 greatest CFB program historically. That's not the case anymore. It really isn't even just Alabama who's surpassed them in historical greatness either. Virtually all major sports outlets now consider these rankings the greatest programs of all time list :
1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Oklahoma
4. Notre Dame
5. USC
Explain how this whole process of gradually diminishing the ND brand has played out over the past 30 years to lead us to where we are today. Thanks.
Thanks Britton! So happy you enjoy watching and I really appricate your comment. I have a michigan, miami football, and lsu video i want to do first but then I will defiantly do yours! You're so right about their history and how they had some really great moments but they have declined as well. Should be fun to make a video on! Just give me some time and i got you! Thats a promise!
@@ColeAdams Sounds great. I think it would be very informative to everyone out there who's curious, and that it could be huge for your channel as well since no one in the established sports media will dare tell that story; for whatever reason.
When it comes to Notre Dame, everything from the major outlets always gets a positive spin put on it by talking about how great ND is about to be again very soon instead of just admitting the truth to everyone that those days are most likely gone for good by now. Since those outlets don't have the courage or integrity to explain to the public what the hell has happened to that program in the last 30 years since their last national championship & Heisman trophy winner in 1988, you can capitalize on this void and satisfy a lot of viewers as a result.
Britton: Michigan, Texas, Notre Dame, Nebraska and Ohio State have the most all-time wins in college football. Recent history and all-time history are two different things. Granted, your list is solid and it’s arguable which order because of length of program existence.
Britton Thompson how are Texas and Michigan not on this list? Recent history is not the ultimate factor you know

Great vid, but you forgot to talk about how good Baylor’s receivers were. The had Antwan Goodley, Corey Coleman (future first round pick) and KD Cannon to help them out 😉
HP Walrus My freshman year we had Goodley, Cannon, Coleman, Jay Lee, Levi Norwood, and Lynx Hawthorne. Absolutely stacked at receiver.
The Fall of Nebraska
Needs to happen
It's now 2021. We lost Matt Rhule to the Carolina Panthers (good for him, he deserves the recognition). Now we have Dave Aranda. We are 7-1 and ranked 16. Talk about a wild few years, but the future is looking bright!
and we just beat UT!! sic’em
And now number 12 in the CFP rankings! 🐻💚💛
Rise and Fall and Rise of Auburn
Fall??? They still there
King Ortiz Jr. They're 4-3 right now, they lost two straight, the team is starting to fall apart, and Auburn doomed themselves by signing Gus Malzahn to a contract they can't get out of.
Well the were top 10 most of the season then IDK wtf happened
King Ortiz Jr. I'll tell you what happened; the offense is terrible thanks to Kerrion Johnson now in the NFL and Jarrett Stidham's regression mainly because of bad offensive line play, and the defense has been exposed, they gave up a ton of rushing yards against Mississippi State, and a ton of passing yards against Tennessee.
what happened was Auburn was a mediocre team who were left in the top 10 despite 3 losses so they could bolster other SEC competitions strength of schedule. just think how horrific the implications would've been for eSECpn if 3-loss Auburn had been ranked #20-#25(where they belonged) when they beat Bama.
I just found your youtube a few days ago and im obsessed with your vids
I really appricate that! Very happy you found the channel because I couldn't really find you lol

As a Baylor fan I hated that the scandal happened but what I hate more is when other fanbases in the big12 use the scandal as a crutch for an insult shows they have no class
The Art days made being from Waco and supporting Baylor feel like we were something. I loved it and I still do. Regardless of the downfall of some stupid players.
As someone from Waco, watching RG3 in college was the most fun ive ever had watching a sporting event
Love your videos bro please keep it up
Thanks man! I have no plans to stop, this has been fun and kinda unexpected lol Didn't think people would enjoy the college football ones so much.
I was wondering about this, great video and We Are!
RG3 is like Babe Ruth. Texas has the "Curse of the RG3". Texas could have had RG3 but because of arrogance passed on him, as a result............................ Texas's last 7 years has seen 1 season with more than 8 wins, 3 Head Coaches, wasted tons of talent(8-9 5* recruits) , and hovered between the 3rd or 4th best team in the State of Texas. Texas needs to pay RG3 some money so he will break the Curse. TRUTH BOMB !!!!!!!!!!!
Seller Sean which team had more success during the RG3 era?
Narrowing the time frame down to 2008-2011. I would have to sat Texas with 2 great seasons to Baylor's 1. But 2010 began the decimation of Texas to present day.
Soon you will be doing the rise the fall and rise again of Baylor football
I honestly don't think Matt Rhule will last long here, he will probably just get this football team in the right direction, then leave back to the NFL I'll give him just 3 years overall
And other lies you can tell yourself

As a Baylor fan, I’m glad you were able to document Baylor’s rise accurately and it makes me happy to know other people can learn about our team’s rise from the bottom. I also think you handled the topic of the sexual assaults with grace and dignity and I commend you for that. Keep up the good work man!

I love you channel man, you do a great job. The one thing you mentioned, that I don't necessarily agree with is your take on recruiting in the state of Texas. It might be some what of a challenge for Baylor to compete with Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech in recruiting from an outside perspective, however the insane amount of talent within the state of Texas makes Baylor much better off than most.

Do the revival of Baylor Football Please!!
People are still remembering the 50's, 60's 70 before the scholarship rules. Then the same few rich teams where always the best. It just doesn't work that way anymore. We went through Notre Dame, Nebraska, Tennessee, USC, Miami et. al. ad nauseum, since then. They all will come back, and fall again. It makes it much more fun.
The three year rise of South Carolina football
TEDAV they were decent for a like 8 years lmao, then fell off the face of the earth
UCF broke Baylor. Just like they did with Louisville, ECU, USF and Auburn.
I forgot that Baylor was ever any good. They had moderate success from the 1950's through the early 1990's. Everything went to hell when the Bug 12 was founded in 1996. From 1996 to 2009 they were 14-98 in conference games.
The downfall of SMU football is one of the most scandalous and tragic stories in college football. Most people don't know about it because it happened a while ago, but SMU's program got shot in the head in the mid 80s and has never recovered. Its a very interesting story, and I would highly recommend watching the pony express documentary if you end up making a video on it.

The rise of Baylor Football brought to you by Charlie brewer
Ayo these last 2 seasons they been going strong
Baylor's success was a direct result of their coach. You're not going to line up and simply outplay your opponent if you're not winning the recruiting war. You've got to win with scheme which requires a creative coach, a student of the game, who can adapt and adjust on the fly and in the heat of the moment. And you need to sustain that and string successful seasons together so the younger generations view your program as a viable option when they eventually graduate high school.
Couldn't agree more Jason! Very well said, its all about building the right culture and striving for success. You can't bull shit success and art briles did a great job, i dont care what his critics say.

Dude I really appricate you saying that 🙏I will keep it up 👊
Need to update. The rise, the fall, the resurrection!
Baylor student here. You're basically right on the money. The mentality here seems to be that although it sucks going 1-11, we'd rather have a coach that is a good man and runs a program that won't turn a blind eye to such heinous acts. Plus, Rhule went 2-10, 6-6, then 10-4 and 10-3 at Temple. We're hoping he repeats that pattern ;)
It's very common for coaches to do that. PJ fleck went 0-12 2-10 at WMU before making a BCS bowl and going 12-1.
Then u lose to Liberty in week one😂
Their downfall wasn't due to allegations against the players, it was due to our players being rapists. The allegations were justified consequences for their actions. Don't rape people, don't assault people, don't turn a blind eye. This could've been avoided if people acted humane in the first place.
Only one player, Tevin Elliot, was convicted of rape. The problem was a lack of Title IX and the administration turning a blind eye to sexual assault. The football program, and especially Art Briles, was thrown under the bus.
Sour grapes on my part, but that 2011 win over OU is one of two games that cost OSU a chance to play for a title. Yes, OSU lost to Iowa St., but they came back with a vengeance for the rest of their season. If OU had managed to beat Baylor and stayed high in the rankings then OSU would have taken #2 over Alabama if they would have still thrashed OU the way they did. Sadly, and I can believe it saddens me, OU lost.
Seth Rogers osu should have went anyways
This hasn’t aged well has it
Art Briles now coaches for Mt. Vernon High School. We play them this week. They’ve already gotten in trouble because they brought 2 kids from Colorado for athletic purposes only.
I'm going to the first Baylor game of the year later today. I hope that Baylor revives their glory days under new head coach Matt Rhule.

Now we find out the rape allegations were false.
I got to Baylor in 2015 and watched the whole thing unfold. It was sad, but not nearly as sad as it was for the girls who got assaulted. People were mad at Briles but not nearly as mad as they were at the school president, Ken Starr, for how he handled the situation. All said I think it was for the best that the president, coach, players, and others involved were let go to give the school a chance to get its reputation back.
Same brother.
The biggest thing about last year for Baylor is that even though they were 1-11, they lost 8 games by 2 or fewer possessions. If they improve significantly, they could easily make a bowl this next year. Already have matched their win total from last year as well.
Tanner Wright agreed, if they beat duke its very probable that they start 4-0 heading to OU.
I think the main issue is their defense has more holes than swiss cheese. If you're putting up between 30-50 points in a loss, your offense isn't the problem.
A family member of mine went to Baylor for school in 2009 right before things got good and I watched them heavily until they fell off, was fun to see

3 1/2 years & 4 seasons after this video, I'm glad to answer your last question as "yes". BU did fine under Matt Rhule for the next 2 seasons, then he left for the NFL. Year 1, first under Dave Aranda, didn't go so well, 2-7, partially attributed both to a new staff & COVID. The 2021 season has gone very well, as the Bears went 11-2, beating both OU & UT then beating OSU in the Big 12 Championship Game. The Bears are set to play Mississippi in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1. If they can win the game, they'll have their first New Year's bowl win in 65 years.

whatever that means THANKS 😂
Cole Adams you make my day *
I don’t understand why people want to punish players for allegations
the difference making players that were there then, came due primarily to the offense they ran, (THAT WAS AN EXCITING OFFENSE TO WATCH) and they always seemed to have dynamic receivers, I don't know if Rhule runs that type of offense or is more conventional, but if his style of offense is conventional, you'll never see that again, unless they are trying to run a dynamic offense then there's a chance.
Baylor cost Notre Dame the 2012 national championship by beating #1 Kansas State.
love your videos, keep it up man
Thanks tony! I got so many ideas but so little time lol New video coming this Saturday!
Art Briles was screwed plain and simple. THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION told him they were handling the situation and told him to deal with football. Briles followed protocol per the schools leadership. Remember these accused kids were INNOCENT until proven guilty. It takes time to sort through these cases and their merit.
I think Baylor got caught up in the earlier versions of the "me too" frenzy, AND other powerful schools in the Big 12 couldn't stand the new success of lowly Baylor, the Christian school, so Baylor had to go down. But Briles was a good coach and good man. Unfortunately most of the leftist media hate those kind of people, just saying.
True
I agree completely. Im a diehard baylor fan and have grown up loving them. Bryce was my favorite of all time how he can just sling the ball perfectly with no effort. Or how about guys on the team raped women and the coaches knew, but failed to report it. Regardless if the players are guilty or innocent, the coach is REQUIRED to report it if he knows about it per NCAA rules. So the coach and AD broke NCAA rules and should be fired
Don’t try to justify rape and trying to cover it up just because you like football
Imagine if Briles coached at Texas. Questions in character aside, he was a great football coach, even back in high school at Stephenville. He could develop non-top recruit players and win games. Texas can get whatever recruits they want (or at least they should) and pair that with Briles great coaching. Texas would have been a dynasty matched only by a few in college football history. Too bad his reputation is now tarnished. He would be the top choice for programs like UT, TTU, TAMU, and many others around the country.
video! Very entertaining! You deserve more subs and views.
Thanks!
I remember Matt Rhule. He turned down the Oregon job in favor of the Baylor job because he claimed it was easier to recruit to Baylor. Fast forward to 2019 and Oregon is a recruiting powerhouse while Baylor is... still not recruiting that great...
He probably meant just the area. Not the school itself
Yes Oregon is recruiting well because #1 Mario Cristobalis a great recruiter and any Miami fan can attest to this #2 USC football is far from what it was under Carroll and many top recruits from the fertile Southern California who would've gone there are now going elsewhere. The other Southern Cal school UCLA is in the process of rebuilding so Mario and the rest of the Pac12 are going in there snatching up recruits who otherwise would've stayed home.
