You can turn off the auto camera when you use the turn signal in the camera settings. Also, anyone can use the Tesla superchargers. Connectivity on the app rely on your car having signal coverage which with any car can be a problem e.g. in a garage. Though, the app does have some quirks that needs some getting used to and finding workarounds. It was just updated a couple of days ago and some of the quirks was corrected, but not all of them.

Only some Superchargers are available in most countries still but it is expanding..💪🏼
Unfortunately the new app still doesn't work despite trying all the options...I think it's a hardware issue so I will live with it till the car is due a service and I can do without it for a while (if you see my initial delivery video)....
Had mine base model from 2 months, purchased a wireless Android Auto dongle, which has worked flawlessly. Spent zero on charging as power provider gives me 3 hours free at night. Driven 1500km that would have cost me 260 UK pounds in diesel. NZ Govt gave me 3.5K pounds rebate, and with cheaper shipping, the on road purchase cost was 19,300 pounds. So far WIN, WIN, WIN.

Which dongle do you use..? I always find them a couple of seconds delayed which isn’t ideal when using Waze etc…

My app has worked flawlessly from day one, but I can understand how frustrating it must be for you with it not working, and I don't know what to suggest (my phone is Samsung S22 and my software is R40)
LKA is not designed for that bit of road you were on (but I am sure you know that)
You are joking about "obstacle very close with the bikes on the back" aren't you?
The car is constantly looking out for problems, (cross traffic assist) so of course it will see the bikes and think they are an issue.
Use Tow Mode? I would have thought to alleviate that?
Mine doesn't announce the date, weather or tell me how to drive, so can only assume a software update?
What software version do you have out of interest?
I don't see your issue with the cameras coming on at the junction, the car tells you countless times where your going, when coming up to a "real" roundabout for you to remember.
The fact that you say" Imagine this a roundabout" then come up to a junction, of course it will put on the camera to assist, its a junction! 🤣

I don't have an issue with the main drivers display and can read all of it without issue, but It would be handy to customise it if you wanted to.
Yes a bad dealer experience really can affect a future buying experience.
I've had a Tesla Model 3 and would never go back. Just the windscreen wipers would stop me ever buying another one.
But I still benefit from the Supercharger network. In fact it's how I charge 99% of the time as I can't charge at home.
I love my XPower and have got use to turning off the LKA as a lot of my driving is done on country roads, but my previous Etron couldn't cope either, so definitely not an MG specific problem.
If we all drove from London to Lands end, and back again, all the time, then yes, I could see that extra cost might irk. (Eventually)
If you are driving all over the country, all of the time then having the car work out, and know the charging stops ahead of time is great.
But in reality most of us do the same old journeys (me anyway) most of the time and only need to know where are "go to" chargers are.

The part of the video with the bikes on the back is part of one I'm making about "tow mode" interestingly after you turn it off the parking sensors don't automatically start again 😳 I had to reset all the functions...
It seems the cars are getting better and its frustrating the "faults" I have should be an easy fix foe SIAC but once you buy you're no longer a priority....
Hopefully it came across as a positive piece but telling the truth as well...All the usual reviews are done over a day or two...
I am working on a few videos, road trip charging, using the granny charger and how touring with and charging bikes with the car for example..
The latest M3 doesn't even have stalks 😳 I'll wait till I try before I comment more though 🤔
I'm hoping they soon make a "plaid" version 😎 I might be tempted...not to replace the MG I intend to run it till it dies (a day after the 7 year warranty knowing my luck)

Interesting. I found my app flawless to use. Connects most of the time unless I have bad data connection. I also use lane departure and assisted breaking and works 100% provided there are proper road markings. Only issue I have is no heat pump option and I like having the heat on all the time .

I think my app is a hardware issue as the had to change one of the cars computers 2 days after I took delivery....
Its interesting you say about the heat pump...My car is fitted with one which is standard on all the European spec models..These last few days I've been using heat as it was only 12 degrees the other night 🥶 and I had to set the temperature to 28 degrees to get any heat at all....!
I'm hoping this isn't another issue 😠

Sorry to hear of your initial problems with your MG4 .
Bought mine in April and thought I would try to cope with the "Granny Charger " This is slow , gaining 5 miles per charging hour .
I now have a home Charger which does 30 miles per hour at night time rate.
The odd long trip can be a little fraught looking for public charging !
I get approx 4.5 /5 miles per kw hour in summertime .
Where in the world are you...? I'm currently making a video about charging options and my experience with the "granny charger" I'm trying not to be hard on the car but MG who don't seem to value its customer base...I would had just given them my money for the Cyberstar 😎 but I'm not sure any longer 🤔 Now if Tesla make an updated model Y and the "Plaid" version is available then 🤔 I will of course be keeping the MG4 😊

The dealer structure is not mature enough to deal with the volume it now experiences.
I was in the motor trade for 40yrs , so I recognise the deficiencies in the system

eVs need to allow users to use their own connectivity and open the app as well.. otherwise we're out of luck when the included SIM won't work

Oh dear have not experienced any of your problems with my MG 4. Excellent car. When I took delivery the dealer spent 2 hours with me and we went over everything and set up the phone etc. I then took the time to Learn the car and Now I enjoy it every day. So I have nothing to moan about. Unlike some who jump on U tube and complain.

The app does work, but it's a pain to connect and not over intuitive. I am wondering if you have completed the connection process the way it is supposed to be done - I wouldn't blame you if you haven't as it took me a good while to get things going! I'm not too concerned as by the looks of things, I shall be controlling charge processes through my energy provider's app. Haven't tried it yet - car's only been on the drive two days!

The dealer would have it in but if you've seen my video about my delivery nightmare then you'll see why im not rushing back.
Ev's are a steep learning curve but at least buying this time of year you'll see the car at it's worst range wise (if you're in the northern hemisphere 🤔) I will get it serviced soon...But I have to decide if I'm keeping the car long term (I already have 7 other ICE cars 😁) or swap for my next EV 😎
I'll be making a 12 month update soon...
shame about the technical gremlins, heard some good things about MG4 Xpower which kind of got my attention but I'm not a fan of the outward design and look of the car which for me distracts from its appeal, bit of a brick, compared to model 3 even
Thanks for your comments...I actually like the looks more than anything, its very quiet aerodynamically even at speed but the highlander is something I'd consider...Currently in Texas with a Model 3 performance and will make some content about living with that soon..
that LAM thougth. there lot of charge places for that. 5years ago that was maybe a issue. not anymore.

Tried the latest MG4 here in NZ, we are not impressed at all, I am 188cm and that island where the gear selector is is so annoying as my leg rests on the edge of it and not comfortable at all! One pedal driving disengages everytime you change from say normal to sport. Like you say the software is awful! Can only pair to one phone for the app. And the interior is so cheap looking! The steering is super twitchy with its lane keeping. Its just funny my 5 year old Nissan Leaf with Propilot while not perfect is so much more relaxing to use. I heard the old model ZS EV no longer gets any software updates, how long until the MG4 also stops getting updates? Even the most early Model S still get software updates and that car is now up to 11 years old!

The only comment I disagree with is the interior quality....For the price I think it looks ok and is wearing well with no rattles or noises 🤞🏻
The lack of backward compatible updates....or any that do not involve visiting a dealer is top of my list...!
@captains_log23 Then you have not been in the similar priced BYD extended range Dolphin as that's interior looks much better including the back where you get two USB a centre armrest and even rear lights next to the full length glass roof, along with a very good voice recognition and full over the air updates, with no delay touchsceen.
You're right...BYD have only just arrived here in Italy. I did see a video a while ago but had already forgotten it 🤔 there is a "dealer" about an hour away so I'll go and check it out in person ☺

That's strange about the app, I've only had mine a week but it connects everytime and I have been able to check battery level and then preheat etc
I've tried everything but nope...I.m off to GigaTexas next month 😎 and leaving the car at the dealers to hopefully sort everything out 🤞🏻

on at low speed over the top of Google maps is annoying so I disabled that function and set one of my shortcut buttons to turn 360 camera on while going forward if required. Mine did go straight back to Google maps after though unlike yours that seemed to cancel your route
I know and it's annoying rathe than a game changer....I use my left button to change mode and right for the heating so a can easily adjust it whilst driving.... although setting 27 to get 21 real degrees doesn't bode well for the winter 🧐🥶@@Rufus2005f1
@@captains_log23 I'd heard about that heating being set incorrectly before I got mine but again it seems to have been fixed now as I've had heating on 22 or 24 depending on how I've felt, certainly haven't had to set to 27 like I was expecting. It seems they are fixing the issues on new models but maybe ignoring existing owners issues which is not good.
One of the points I make in the video...I was promised over the air updates, I set the car up on my home wifi and even looked to see if any were available..... Of course there were non and have never been. I'm sure these things aren't that difficult to fix for such a big company if they had the desire to do so...?
A lot of nonsense that isn't relevant to having the car in the UK.
In the UK I have found the app to be pretty much flawless, using android auto is also seamless - it reminds me to plug into the car to activate it on my phone.
As for the speedo display, it does everything it needs to with no problem at all.
So much petty nit picking in the video and to what end?
The public charging network in the UK is a joke, you get ripped off, simple as and comparing the much more expensive Tesla to the MG4.... like... how can you when the cost differs so much for a decent Tesla model 3? Yes, they get reduced cost charging but it's not a 50% reduction as claimed and Tesla's suffer many issues that the MG's do not such as their capacity to catch fire, build quality etc
Setting off the detectors on the rear as you had bikes on them is simply your own fault and not that of the car...
lot's of effort to make the video to just slag if off for issues that you personally have but others don't.... Was it really worth the effort?
