  • Keep getting confused when it comes to 4 figure skating steps? Then here is something that is going to help! ►► www.nextedgetutorials.com/4sk... A brief description and breakdown on 3-turns, brackets, counters & rockers. Download our FREE "The four turns, every figure skater must know" Guide →
    Have you been trying for months or maybe even years to get your sit spin on the ice? No matter what you do, or how much you practice, it still doesn't work. You can never get low enough and always end up falling over. Well you have been going about it all wrong! The secret to having a great sit spin....you have to build that balance and strength off the ice first!
    In this lesson we are off the ice and focusing on three different exercises to help you build better balance in a sit spin. By building better balance (plus strength) off the ice, we’re able to take our time and get more comfortable with sitting down low. Once that sit spin position becomes second nature, we can easily take it to the ice where we can see the big improvements.
    If you don’t believe us yet, try out these exercises and see the results for yourself.
    In this lesson you'll learn:
    - The 3 different sit spin exercises we recommend
    - How you can alter the exercises to suit you
    - How these exercises will help your sit spin on the ice
    Happy Skating!

    Even that 1st exercise, I’m only able to balance with my heels raised, not flat. Suspect I need to work on my ankle mobility before I can get that low!

      When you're on the ice your heel is raised as well, so it should be easier to squat down like that. If you have low ankle mobility like me you should look into getting weightlifting shoes which have their heel raised a bit or you can try putting a small block of wood under your heel. It will make practicing the first exercise a lot easier.

      @@pierreadeikalam1086that advice is extremely helpful. I usually have zero drop shoes on in the gym but that extra bit of support in the heel makes all the difference. Have also been incorporating ankle strength & mobility into my routine and already seeing improvement

    I'm actually a 60 year old quad skater trying to improve shoot the duck, (ha) for limbo. Just can't let all those youngins have all the fun. I have watched many tutorials on this move. Your video came up in my feed. I'm glad it did. I have never seen the exercise where you sit down on your tush, bend one leg, keeping that foot on the floor, other leg straight out, then come back up on the one bent leg, keep the other leg off the floor and straight. Gee I can't even type the exercise. Lol ....challenging exercise and is interesting. Will give it a go. Thank you.

    I really appreciate the progression here. Folks have been telling me "just do a bunch of pistol squats" but I can't really do them in a way that's safe for my knees yet!

    I can hold my balance but I'm having real trouble with coming back up on one leg. So basically doing a one legged squat. My coach tells me to practice it off ice but I feel like nothing works 🥲

    I can do it on one side, but the other side hasn't been there since I keep getting cramps in my spinalis / rotatores /multifidus and then I'm out for a bit. Did you find that skating makes your back uneven?

    • @nextedgetutorials
      @nextedgetutorials  8 місяців тому

      Yes but definitely keep practicing both 😉👍❤️

    I can do a knees together squat on ice, but when I try to pull my leg out it hurts and shakes violently if I have it anything close so to straight. Any tips?
