      @MenaBishay Complete and utter nonsense. The vitamin A in meat and animal products is in the form of pre-formed vitamin A (i.e. Retinol). Plants contain only pre-vitamin A carotenoids (beta carotene and alpha carotene). You can't overdo retinol as its readily metabolized by the body, but you can develop pre-vitamin a carotenoid toxicity as only a small fraction of it is metabolized in the bloodstream.

    I went animal based back in the spring of this year. Love it and have been consistently following it. Best adherence to healthy eating in my life. I eat 8oz of 85/15 ground beef, 12oz of 93/7 ground beef, raw honey, bananas, mangoes, 340g of Greek yogurt, raw Parmesan, and 4 eggs everyday. My yearly check up was in late October and my total cholesterol (299) and LDL (213) is VERY high. I felt very defeated. I could count on 1 hand the times I had crappy food so it wasn’t something else. Too much beef? I’m 36, 5’7” and 150lb. Would love to hear what tweaks I could make to improve that or should I seek another way of eating?

      Yes it's the beef and saturated animal fat. This isn't too concerning though, an LDL of 213 used to be in normal range but now basically everyone is at risk of "high" cholesterol just because the values and goals in medicine have changed ($$$). You can also listen to Paul and others talk about how high LDL does not correlate with cardio vascular risk. Half the people who die of a heart attack have LOW cholesterol levels as defined by the current medical values.

      @Amaraticando Місяць тому +2

      Ray Peat never said to eat very high carb, low fat/protein. About macros, he only suggested carbs to be the main source. His "followers" however tend to bring up those fad macros. They can still be used for very obese or diabetic potato couch people for interventional purposes. Low protein would be catastrophic for a person like Paul Saladino. Low fat makes me feel weaker on my endurance life, but I try to keep it under 30%.

    • @jeffreythompson6282
      @jeffreythompson6282 Місяць тому +1

      @Amaraticando I agree, there is really no "Ray Peat diet" but that's what the followers typically do as if you follow the ideas to their natural extension that's where you end up. I think what's missing to both macro ratio extremes is that your body is meant to use both systems, not stay in carb burning or fat burning exclusively. Everything in nature cycles - daily and seasonally. We should too.
      Also important: this is maybe ideal for Paul in the tropics and active. What's ideal for someone inactive living in say Chicago during the Winter is likely very different.

I removed gluten and lactose and paid attention to anti nutrient and fiber vegetables, i basically opted for an animal based diet, with fruits.. and my symptoms were getting so much better, no bloating or pain after meal, my constipation improved a lot, my joint pain gone away.
    But i still had sometimes some issues like my break out and acne had lower but still, and i was also constipated sometimes..
    I just decided to go carnivore, but since i feel like i'm constipated, i have more bloating, and whenever i eat a lot of fat, it's even worse, though my skin issues have got a lot better, I'm constipated and my stool is really loose, I already added probiotics, like raw hard cheese,L reuteri yogurt and different fermented vegetables sauerkraut, cucumber, kvass. I take magnesium, potassium, high quality salt.
    Every week I eat organs meat mostly liver, beef heart, and bone marrow.
    I heard about MMC and how damaging can be a bad gut Motility and so I'm thinking of buying ginger root extract, artichoke leaf extract and Bile salts to make it better.
    **Also, i ate a tons of nuts and gluten before and whenever i would eat many nuts or nut butter, i would get really pointed pain under left or right rib. But saturated fat never done that.

      Yeah he needs to properly address this, last time he said he drains blood which I don't think you should have to do on a normal diet. Maybe his diet is just too clean for what nature intended and he could actually benefit from some sort of antinutrient to iron, like for example, tea drinkers tend to have trouble with iron absorption due to tannins. Though I still agree there are many problems with plants so I don't know what's the best solution for this.

      Well kidney stones are typically a result of excess oxalates in the system (calcium oxalate kidney stones). Often people will be SHOVELING down almonds and spinach (not to mention making everything with almond flour) thinking that’s the way to be healthy but it can actually be a big negative in the long term. That person should probably be plugging in their foods and seeing how many oxalates they’re taking in. Pretty doubtful it’s related to the creatine
