If you want to protect this car and be definitively efficient against rust , you should put grease everywhere. grease is the only thing very efficient against rust. put grease between metal and carpet, inside door, behind metallic bumper, under the vehicle, behind the repairs you can make (everywhere inside the body - hidden erea - instead of using paint), hollow areas (necessarily hidden, so no need to be aesthetic). For rear wings unreachable with a paintbrush, use an extender and pour old oil everywhere each year. Rust almost always comes from the inside and welds. Handyman Experience - 35 years. From france
Awesome thanks for sharing with us great stuff easy to follow along got same issues with mine so glad l joined your Chanel never to old to learn stuff l,m 68 been doing body work long time always something too learn from Canada 🇨🇦 SK later keep it up 👆
I just cut out the rust that was bad in the corner. ....the I laid the new corner on top of the good metal and silicone sealed and riveted in place and body painted.....looks good simple
Silicone won't do anything but keep from rusting and eventually those rivets will come loose. If you wanted to avoid welding, you should've used panel bond. I use to work in a body shop
...gotta LOVE a Woman that will watch You work on a truck and film You AND give directions and advice. Great job Dude!

My son has a 03 GMC rusted up like yours on the rockers! Thanks for the video ! 👍😁
They All do unfortunately, it's a GM thing
@A.D.R.J.Coleman I have an 2007 dodge ram 1500 that's in way worse condition it's not just a gm thing
@@danieltroyer2346 90% of the older GM trucks have rusted rockers and around the rear wheel around the bed
@A.D.R.J.Coleman i have a ford f150 and it's the same thing. When you live up North, it doesn't really matter what truck you have. It will rust.
Good video to the point no bs. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks john.
Nice job on putting rocker panel in and cab car
Is it just me or when your watching weld you still close your eyes even on yt
@@isaacpayl524 lol ya sometimes.

Ya that might be the way id do it if it was my truck but the owner wouldn’t be happy haha.

No nozzle on the Welder? Didn't clean the paint off either?
Was using flux wire no gas. I can see better and easier to use. Paint burns off lol
I feel like you could’ve benefited from removing the bed
should of just bought thicker gauged panels, cold zinc spray and fully replaced the panels...
Great video thanks for sharing
What welder do you run
An old Miller.
Living in the SALT BELT
Those slip on rockers are junk, your better off with the full rockers cause they are alot thicker metal.
You need to close the weld ..its all going to rust like this
Part 2?
Its coming. Winter slowed us down.
I would not use any spray foam in their air, collect moisture, and rotted out again
Ya. I ended up not doing it for that reason.
All welded and be rusty by next week
Why do all that work to use spray foam? Makes no since
Plasma cutter baby
Gotta get me one some day
Never a goid idea to cut sheet with a plasma. It will warp.
