Noticed a little something interesting recently while at Tanagra Town. There is a line that describes the beast of Tanagra, "his face black, his eyes red." At 26:08 you can see a big metal box with brain fungus on it beside the wooden crate there. The bottom left side of the box is open and inside is a black teddy bear with red eyes.

I love the parallels between the Star Trek story & the way that players in-game have been communicating using the found notes and holotapes- in a recent article (can’t remember where I read it but it was a gaming site), the author talked about how they gave some food and water to a low-level player and the player dropped a note in return- the note detailed the personal account of an in-game character who was having a very hard time finding food, and perfectly conveyed the struggle for new characters to survive & the gratitude the player felt for their help.
    Edit: holotapes, not holograms lol

perhaps it's as simple as the Devs wanting fans to come together to create a theory about Tanagra Town?

    • @MemoVa10
      @MemoVa10 5 років тому +3

      Well here’s multiple theories then:
The story is of two strangers meeting on an island and bonding together, becoming friends.
What if this riddle is of Harold and Bob AND The Interloper and the man that is being absorbed by the Interloper?
What if the creature that bonded with Harold is the same creature that has bonded with that man seen as “the conduit” for the Interloper?
What if because of Harold’s FEV and his goul-ifcation the creature, named Bob, was somehow pacified and didn’t harm humans? But now it was Harold who could summon people to him instead of the creature.
What if the man couldn’t pacify the Interloper and the Interloper went from being merrily plant life, and became the more man than tree?
The man though doesn’t want to harm humans because now he hears the true purpose of the interloper, so he strains the Interloper’s growth by creating new vines. The vine of the bog. He has been fighting the Interloper for a long time, thus the abundance of vines and the floating city.
Maybe there were a bunch of creatures like Bob and the Interloper released into the nuclear land after the bombs AT THE SAME TIME.
Bob is from the first games, and the Third, but 76 is only 25 years after bombs, so it could be possible that multiple creatures were released, but because of Harold’s goul form and the FEV, it took longer for Bob to grow than The Interloper.
The story of Tanagra is a warning about the multiple creatures that were strangers, on a island, this one being a sea of radiation, bonding, but not becoming friends, thus the horrors of the Interloper.
My main reason for this is because there had to be some intelligent creature in control of those vines in order to create such a staircase.
Maybe the man is trying to destroy the metal statue of Tanagra, thus it allows players to find it with a staircase. Maybe the statues give the creature that created the Interloper and Bob power? Or maybe they are anchors into our realm for the creature.
Maybe when the bombs dropped, the creature was able to open portals into our realm and release its “children.” That when its children feed, it can feed. That it tries to reach out into our realm and gain strength from worship and sacrifice.
Maybe the creature will die without its anchors, and that’s why the man wants to destroy them because he was tricked and is now horrified by the creature he sees as the creator.
Maybe the creature will die from a lack of worship and could see into our realm’s future and made itself bigger with cults and stuff to prepare for the oncoming war. That it was gaining more strength to open portals through the statues to release Bob and the Interloper and others.
Maybe the statues, because they are just faces, are the creatures eyes into our realm?
As for the statue in Fallout 4, it could be that there wasn’t a creature released in Boston, or that it was drowned, or that the Institute found it and killed it or captured it, but it died without a human host.
These are just some ideas I have, and I’m not even done with the video yet 🤣
      I’m at 16:18 currently
But tell me what you think of any of my ideas. Are there parts where I’m misinformed? Or do you agree? Maybe you have something to add to it?

    Datamining results below....
Here's what I've found; will self-delete this if asked.
retrace my steps in cell 48,3 if xEditing
The keypad objects have no references to anything that would open them. This all revolves around world persistent 003D71FA 'WrhsDoorSmMetal01OPQ' which has the (cell temporary) keypads and a red button tied to it. I can't remember if I saw them or not... if there are a bunch of computer consoles and hospital equipment nearby, then that explains them, otherwise they're in that room.
There's also a cardboard cutout alien nearby somewhere, same cell (48,3). Says something, that does. So does the static drop of a recipe for Enclave Mk5 underarmor.
The "What have I done" note is ENB_MireLab_WhatHaveIDone, the ENB prefix leading me to believe this is an Enclave related storyline, as most other things ENB are at Whitespring Bunker.

The lab may be on the other side of the security door. I have read accounts from players that have clipped into it that the have found the room mostly empty, but with a lot of lab equipment, chemistry stations and the like. One man starts mumbling in his sleep about what the plants want him to do next.
They request a transfer back to HQ for him; it's the residential wings that are destroyed in the bunker.

While I think your first theory is a lot more solid, about it heavily linking to DLC Content and a fight with the Interloper at some stage in the future, it might be a bit more simple.
It could be that they decided to put the easter egg reference to Star Trek TNG to attempt to inject some humour into the game, as they did with a crashed Starfleet TNG era Shuttlecraft in Fallout 2, and that there really wasn't much more to it that a pop-culture reference.
That being said, it is possible by extending the theme of "Darmok", as a core of the story was not just building a friendship through a mutual struggle, but learning to communicate with someone who at one time you may have been hostile to... as while Picard is on the planet, Riker on the Enterprise is increasingly having to consider attacking the ship to try and rescue the captain. Despite this tension obviously growing, it's Picard having been able to form a base of communication by relating the story of Darmok & Jalad at Tanagra to the Epic of Gilgamesh, who explains what happened to Dathon and disolves the tension.
Expanding on this, it might be a sign that in a future DLC we gain the ability to communicate with and possibly become allies with non-human factions such as the Super Mutants. We've already seen a non-hostile Super Mutant trader in 76, and even after tjhe Black Isle games where most Super Mutants have been "dumb dumbs", we still see some like Strong, Uncle Leo, Fawkes and Erikson.
So it could be that you're right about a battle uniting factions, but it wouldn't make sense of it to be other players like the Scorchbeast Queen fights, as there's nothing stopping us doing that now. Ghouls are all Feral in the game (unless they introduce some who survived the massacre at the Chemical Plant), and the Scorched are possessed, leaving either Super Mutants or the possibility of Deathclaws regaining the ability to talk, as options.
Just a theory though, and somewhat reliant on that Holotape the Overseer left about how mistrust destroyed the BOS, Free States and Responders.

Secondly,Death Claws don't regain lost Intelligence, since Probably already gained from the Mutations.Deathclaws Originate from Some Sort of Chameleon or something Similar. They have Not lost any Intelligence. However,it is Very plausible, even Possible that there would Come a Small Family or Tribe of Talking Deathclaws into the Game through DLC,as Deathclaws have been known to be able to Develop Humanlike Levels of Intelligence.

@@enderkatze6129 I don't want to spoil it for you, but basically it relates to the Quest "Tracking Unknowns" which you can pick up from the gate terminal at Harpers Ferry, basically it ties together some of the notes you find across Appalachia referencing people changing and being welcomed to a new community. It also explains why you find feral ghouls but not non-feral ones during a holotape found at Dyer Chemical.
Fair enough on the Deathclaws, just out of everything in Fallout 76, they were the only other group I could see talking and forming an alliance outside of Super Mutants, or as I said, any off-shoot survivors from the Chemical Plant

Well what about these ideas? What do you think?
Are there parts where I’m misinformed? Or do you agree? Maybe you have something to add to it?

Dear Oxhorn. My best hint is, that the barn only opens with a DLC. A DLC which also gave you acess to vault 94 where the G.E.C.K was activated as an experiment or for mistake. The GECK made the red roots grow under the city and lifted it into the sky as you found it. This theory is referenced by two notes. The obe you found on top by the student who returned and the second one i found was in a ruined house in the swap near the city. This note was written by someone who has to left his house because of the strong growth of the roots.

Actually, there's a small justification for the bird cage (at least, to me) now: Who says that the cave where the metal face is wasn`t being mined for it? Still, if this Interloper being is as big as Harold was (remember Harold, the half tree guy?), I would be really afraid that it reached it's ultimate form. I think that even Liberty Prime would have it hard fighting against it.

    • @roetheboat1
      @roetheboat1 6 років тому +1

Perhaps it is the result of being set so far in the past of the other Fallout games, but I would hazard a guess that perhaps the Interloper doesn't become some sort of Titan-sized monster roving the Wasteland for the sole fact that we don't see it in Fallout 3 or Fallout 4. Much like the Scorched Plague, which would have easily decimated post-Great War society, something must happen in Fallout 76 that contains the Interloper. Or perhaps that's not even the Interloper's goal?
There has to also be something to the fact that the Lovecraftian horror parts with the Pillar in the Dunwich Building, the giant metal heads, and the Interloper never show up on the West Coast of the Wasteland United States. I realize the easy answer is that Bethesda loves Lovecraft (Oblivion has an entire town that's just basically "Shadow Over Innsmouth" and Skyrim has tons of references as well), but perhaps there is a lore-friendly reason.

    • @metalchono
      @metalchono 6 років тому +1

@@roetheboat1 but still, Lovecraft has written about Titan-like monsters, such Ctulthu (Did I spell it right?). And yes, this might not be the case for an epic Giant monster-robot fight, it does leave a slim door open for one in the future, since there had been many world locations related to these metal faces. I agree that they might not even related to each other and that they are particular "beings" common to their zone. But I believe they are evil (as they can brainwash people), they are powerful (those faces came in form for an unknown purpose) and they won't settle down for possesing mere humans, since their evil influence has spread on the surroundings and ergo, it wouldn't be impossible that at least one of these creatures reached a colossus-like form. Then again, I have an itch to see Liberty Prime fighting something of its own size.

Oxhorn, there's a third explanation that fits the context more thoroughly:
Darmok and Gilad are the individual members of the factions that lay dead across Appalachia.
The monster is the Scorchbeast menace.
As we learned from the overseer's holotapes, the various factions had what they needed, not only to defeat the Scorchbeasts, not only to survive, but to thrive. The central theme of Fallout 76 is unity--it's working together to stitch factions into a wider organization for the purpose of facing existential threats. Good socio-political allegory in the current context.
So then, Appalachia is a cautionary tale to the Vault dwellers. It says work together--become friends by facing your shared foes--or die isolated. The... let's call it "parable" of Darmok and Gilad is a metaphor about the wider themes and struggles of the game as a whole. But deeper than that, it is necessary for the vault dwellers to explore each of the faction strongholds in order to put together the wider story of what happened, and how to defeat it. So it's no less true that the Vault Dwellers need the work and resources of the Responders, Raiders, Free States, BoS, and even the Enclave to triumph over the scorched.
What a beautiful easter egg to find in a game, this is the thing I love most about Fallout games, and it's great to see that this truly unique quality hasn't been bleached out of the Fallout games yet.
Thank you for pseudo-softballing the answer, btw. I don't think there's any way you didn't see the bigger picture, but it makes for a better comments section.

( I haven't played 76 in a couple of months but if I recall correctly there was a vault that was locked, and people are still waiting for it to open because there is no way to open it , no key, so maybe it's something like that)

As a Trek fan, I can point out that it likely means Darmok and Jalad on the ocean, which is one of the Tamarian Captain's rarer statements. Not them at Tanagra. Meaning New friendship and understanding gained through a shared challenge.
Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra means cooperation.

The keypad is a bug now fixed with the latest update and if you watch the new trailer there appears to be several sub levels underneath T/Town so this strongly hints at a big dlc later

    Oxhorn
My guess is the easter egg at 10:15 is a nod to Brook from One Piece. The pumpkin is a center piece object used else where. Here the flowers represent his afro. The cream is a reference to how he is shown in the show using milk to repair his broken bones and become stronger. The fertilizer is a reference to how when meeting Brook, Luffy asks if he poops, to which he confirms this.

Thank you so much! I finally understand the Star Trek episode. It was so confusing to me until now.

Totally forgot this was a Fallout 76 video, I thought it was a Star Trek video about Darmok and Jalad. My favorite episode, by the way

The pumpkin face with flowers for hair must represent the interloper, and the 2 pots of cream would represent players.
Maybe you can sleep in the bunk beds with a player to show your "trust" and then open the door???
I haven't played fallout 76 I just like watching Oxhorn, but this intriguing!

My theory... Your second idea is right, kind of. Two random players meet here, they gang up on the "beast", this allows the key pad to be accessible. Maybe then, in this certain circumstance, you, or the other player, also find a code for the door. You then access it together. Or, as I recall the TNG episode, one of you falls to the beast, but the other kills it and finds a reward behind the door.
