Something to note about Loxodont's ftilt 1: On grounded opponents it's slightly negative on hit unless you cancel into ftilt 2. That said, that doesn't mean it's bad. Once you hit with ftilt it's mixup time. Your fastest options (other than ftilt 2) are jab, grab, and block and those are all great for building a gameplan around because they all serve a different purpose, and while none of them are true they're all fast enough to be unreactable. Imo the default option is ftilt > jab. You can get this without canceling into ftilt 2 by hitting jab just after Loxo's ears swing back forward in his ftilt 1 animation. Jab can lead into a grab or any tilt, including linking back to ftilt and looping the situation until they do something about it. Figure out their response to the situation and adjust your post-ftilt punish accordingly. Do they mash a fast button? Block and shield grab. Do they block? Grab. Do they spot dodge? Meaty the i frames. The hardest response to deal with is roll, as you'll need to read the direction or have some great reflexes. Roll in is the easiest, as you can just pivot > pick a move. I think roll away can lead to side b, but I didn't get a chance to lab that. Ideally, you want to do this close enough to the ledge that their roll away will stay in ftilt range or on a platform (though the latter is a lot harder to set up).
This is super informative! I like all of the mix-ups in advantage that f-tilt can provide and I think you do a great job of laying out the general flowchart. I love it when new characters get added to games because we get a chance to theorycraft stuff like this.
Really helpful guide! If I may give a suggestion, maybe lower the in game audio a bit in the future, it was really loud! I can hear you but the music makes it a bit harder than it should be to focus. Hope this helps and to see more RoA content!
I've mained Ike since Brawl and never felt like I had a great option in Rivals. Found Loxodont pretty quick and I'm looking forward to using him. Thanks for the guide!
i played the beta for 15 hrs and i must say. lox is the only character i'm decent at. i love his mixup options. my favorite strategy is forcing people into tech situations or just knowledge checks. i.e. dthrow without the magma confused so many people which let me react to their options such as a ftilt 1 or a dsmash. sometimes it led to an upstrong or side special. my personal favorite set up is ftilt 1 to utilt, which can lead to juggles.
I used the magma very sneakily over this weekend, last stock last hit situations - use the fireball in the combo for free magma, do the read - win 😅 Not a lot of people realize they are being conditioned to fight against the non magma version of strong attacks lol
He feels like the character that I wouldn’t main but I’d still somehow consistently beat all my friends with him instead of whoever I do main. I dunno any better way to describe it. I can’t wait for people to give dumb names to all his kill confirm, he’s gotta have one called the Wowie Zowie because elephants.
I don’t know whether I am alone with this, but your BGM seems to be WAY LOUDER than your commentary, which made it a bit harder to listen to your voice to me!
That was just the in-game volume. I had it turned down to 20% and it was still really loud. I'll keep that in mind when the next beta comes around though!

Appreciate it. It is something I've noticed and fixed in the future

Yes
solid overview - you're great at expressing your thoughts, which is rare for a lot of platform fighter creators.
keep it up!

That thumbnail goes hard.
This is the kind of tutorial I've been looking for, good job, bru
The way you broke him down was amazing. Love the channel, subbed for moro LOXO STOMPING!!

Loxodont joins Wario, Incineroar, Ike, and Ridley in the kingdom of “heavy with a carried nair”
love the way you explain man
Thank you that means a lot!

love the kaladesh renegade flag in the background
Thanks! My LGS was going to throw it out and I took it instead lol. I've had it for years now even back when I was a Magic content creator.
Mammoth go brrrrrrr
He looks so damn cool man
He is so damn cool man
Instead of magma armor, since itsnot defensive wha if we call it magma jacket
Elephant gang
Really hoping we get Orcane soon :3
There's a pretty good chance that they are the next character! Although I'm rooting for Etalus personally.
RAHHHHHHH LOXODONT GUIDE
so good!
Is there a discord for lox discussions?
Idk I'd recommend asking the Rivals of Aether subreddit
I just realized there aren't any water characters yet. Wild.
Ranno counts but yeah there will only be two water characters when the game releases and four fire characters.
@@TuesdayTastic OH RIGHT I... Legitimately didn't see him when I was looking at the roster. Oops!
There’s ranno, but i’m surprised at the lack of orcane
@@not_really_greg This month for the July beta ;)
IT'S NOT MY TIIIIIME
Muxh love

Yeah it has been a common thing people have said. I didn't find the setting to lower the game volume until after this I think.
honestly I know the music is cool but please tone it down next time (it's slightly hard to hear you)
otherwise thanks for teaching me somethings

So loxodont doesn't wear underwear so his is techinally naked
Fun facts brought to you by @Daniel12pixelRbMc
@@TuesdayTastic make art of him naked
He's not naked he's wearing trumps!
@@mightybear5441 TECHINALLY!
There are only three characters in this game that have pants.
EVERYONE ADD COMMENT FOR RETENTION (also dont make it the same as mine and dont spite me either)
I love you spud
Oo la la
Ough, algorithm.. .
Algo
music is wayyyyyy too loud. great video though
That was an issue with this beta specifically. I've made it less of a problem moving forward.
You seem like a nice guy, I will comment because it is strong! (against the algorithm)
I love when viewers help me out against my hardest matchup (the algorithm).
Now go play King Dedede for 2 weeks 💅🏽💅🏽
Anything to get my Loxodont fix
