Awesome video, you're doing gods work with helping newcomers get into the game. Definitely going to send this to my friends and make them play with me, LOL.
Honestly, I had my main picked out almost immediately despite not playing any of the betas, regardless, this video is still great, definitely gonna be useful to me because of the fact I haven't played it yet I decided I'm gonna main Fleet, an easy choice for me honestly, I love bows in videogames, idk why just something about them feels so satisfying to use and I often prefer using them over guns, also she kinda reminds me of toon link in a lot of ways and he was one of my like 3 or 4 'mains' in Smash Ultimate so that's cool, and also I just really like her design, she is adorable. I mained Sylvanos in Rivals 1 but he's not gonna be added to 2 for a while I'm guessing but even when he is brought back, unless he's got some awesome changes, he probably won't beat out Fleet. sorry for how long this comment is, couldn't think of a much more concise way to put it lol
My main in Rivals 1 was Etalus (I was late to the party), but now that he’s not here I kinda struggled for about a month. Now I’m glad to be calling Fleet a character I’m having tons of fun with and finding myself playing really well. Orcane is also fun tbh but I’m playing Fleet way more
I clearly don't know my own preferences and strengths well enough. Maypul sounds absolutely awful to me but somehow she benefits of my playstyle incredibly well. I love playing reactive and faking people out with movement, and my advantage is usually really good. She's letting me do everything I want to do and I love it.
Rivals is good about making characters with usually simple gameplay more intricate so it doesn't feel cheap. Maple probably does fit your play style, but you can't just hit directions and buttons and mic up timing and movement like you maybe could with other fighters. I'd say maypul is definitely awkward to figure out at first, but if she fits your play style she's worth the work, very satisfying and feels great to handle
I do not get how people consider Maypul difficult. She’s not the easiest character in the game, but she is by no means difficult to play at all. Being “resource dependent” isn’t an issue for Maypul because marking people is incredibly easy and Maypul’s opponents will spend 90% of the game marked.
this was really clear and nicely put together, thanks! Forrsburn goes in the five star difficulty tier for me, every time i cloned myself I'd get confused and wander off the stage 😭
I did play about 200 hours of rivals 1 and my main was mollo. I have also played smash since 2014. Wrastor is actually one of the more comfortable characters for me in rivals 2. Multiple jumps help with losing the wall jump after recovery and he can tilt immediately out of run state. Once you know a few kill confirms he's a pretty honest character
@BasedChadman Use grab, space better, use spikes since floor hug loses to that, use a ranged special if that's an option, I mean it's really not that crazy of a mechanic. Plenty of ways to beat floor hugging
@@BasedChadman How'd you get that from what I said? Because of grab? A basic mechanic that was ALSO very important in Melee for similar reasons?? Because I'm saying to space? Which is something that, again, matters a lot in melee and even has a character designed for it? Because of using spikes? Could you please just specifically explain how you got that from what I said?
@@jerrysandoval2001 Melee doesn't have floor hugging. Crouch canceling on its own is fine, but being able to disrupt combo strings is bad gameplay. Why is it that top players from other plat fighters agree it's a bad mechanic while normies continue to shill it? The game will die if they don't make it more competitive.
I'm that freak that prefers starting with Wraster actually lol. I got the hang of him in a few hours, but struggle with all the other characters. If you play Smash, and you like playing Yoshi and/or Jigglypuff (I'm a dedicated Yoshi main), Wraster is going to feel VERY natural for you. Yoshi is a very unique character, and I've really struggled finding ANY fighting game with a character like him... until now!
My list of plug n' play to 6Head, based on surface level training mode testing: - Zetter - Clairen - Kragg - Loxodont - Maypul - Wrastor - Ranno - Forsburn - Orcane - Fleet
Man, elephant dude has my least-favorite design by far but my favorite gameplay design by far (i LOVE big heavy bruisers with fat hitboxes).. whereas the designs I like the best like fleet and maypul have my least favorite gameplay design (super fast lil annoying weenies). I'mma learn to love that elephant, even if it takes a skin or two to get there. Also really really hoping they add the snek girl soonish since my smash mains are samus and rob.
I feel this comment alot. I so often want to try out other characters but i find im often just okay at combos and not very good at long technical combos. So much of what i like is to just be rewarded for consitantly winning nuetral or reading my opponent. Its why i was a K rool main due to my live of projectiles too. I really wanna pick up fleet but i know deep down the funny elephant will be the character im best at (the chef loxodont skin is good if you enjoy a dumbskin lol)

I think it becomes worse as players get more used to dealing with it, his side special can be hit with disjoints (like in the clip in the video), and his up special can be ledgehogged or parried if he tries to land on stage. That being said, you probably are right that his recovery overall is better then im giving it credit for since his down special gives him a lot of mixups.
