2018 Australian Patrol Ration 1 Man 24 Hour MRE Review PR1M Meal Ready to Eat Taste Test
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 тра 2018
- This Australian Patrol Ration 1 Man is a 24 Hour MRE used by ADF Special Forces and recon teams on LRRP missions. The mains are freeze dried and other components switched out for lighter ones reducing the weight to 2 1/2 lbs. And with minimal reduction in caloric content. Amazingly fresh food, yet seriously lacking closure devices to those main's pouches. No gusset, no problem.

@@TheIndogamer But what rations?
This is such a perfect example of Aussie cuisine 😂 I was amazed by how many of these things are currently in my house and eaten every week
Same!
It’s crazy because in comparison some of the US meals were prepared like someone not from the US was doing their best to figure out what foods Americans usually eat together.
I don’t understand why they’d pair up some of the items that they do. Nobody eats like that….
But here, Australia’s meals have things that seem to go together AND there are Aussies co-signing these meals.
Idk how much louder the US government needs to shout that they don’t give a flip about its citizens, even the ones dying for it.
Damn yeah. So Australian
@HoneyBunnyBOM To be fair.... American "cuisine" is both crazy regional AND each distinct type bleeds and fuzes into each other depending on where your parents moved from and what cookbooks were popular in your area.
I think the idea was everyone could either trade for favorites, or at least pick out something they liked from the least favorite options.
@@kin2narutothe products and brands in the MRE are very Australian. I don’t think she meant culturally Australian.
I am an Australian and the way looks after the meal and has respect for the Vegemite is incredible he has the stamp of approval
What does vegemite taste like?
@@KassAss420 A little bit like beef stock cubes. But different hard to explain.
@@randall.3189 Like beef stock cubes? I’ve seen beef bouillon cubes. Like concentrated beef powder from ramen? I’ve seen that Australians put it on toast? Why would you want to eat beef paste on toast?
It's way more salty and way less beefy than beef cubes. Very much an umami flavour. As to why? Dunno, it's an Australian thing. Every Aussie kid is raised on Vegemite on toast for breakfast and always a Vegemite sandwich in your lunch box at school. It's definitely an acquired taste but on toast with a good spread of butter, there's nothing like it for an amazingly savoury and sweet (from the butter) boost to the day, packed with vitamins and minerals. My favourite breakfast is Vegemite on toast with a glass of fresh orange juice. Fantastic.
Saturday morning, Vegemite on toast with butter, with a cup of milo on the side (cold in summer). That is a true breakfast.
I said, "do you speak-a my language?" Steve just smiled and made us a vegemite sandwich.

I know this might sound weird, but what dose Vegemite taste like?
@@Blue-wj4ce I'm a kiwi who is a big fan of Vegemite. It tastes very salty and "yeasty". It's not creamy like peanut butter and holds no sweetness to it (unlike Marmite) it's a savoury topping for sure. A little goes a long way so a new comer to Vegemite shouldn't load it on, just a little thin smear with some butter to counter the saltiness makes it much more palatable.

Wow, a very informative and interesting film clip. The MRE's are completely different to what we had in the 1980's and 90's. For a start we called them ration packs not MRE's and we didn't have all those nice things in them like in today's packs. I remember being in the echolne area one time and have a little spare time on my hands and whipped up a pretty rudimentary cheese cake with my short bread buiscuts, tin of cheese and tube jam and condensed milk. When I said I was having cheese cake for dessert to my fellow soldiers they all I was kidding. Little did they know, with a little imagination and a few spare minutes. Wulla. Bush style cheese cake, boy was I the envy of everyone else. 🤔😝😝😝😝😝
Good thinking. You did have all the basic ingredients for cheesecake and food is subjective anyway so why not? Cheers.
There's so many random ingredients and options in modern combat rations, you can make all sorts of crazy recipes. Jerky bar in between bread makes a steak sandwich. You can use the cheese to make fondue, cheesecake, nachos, etc (my personal favourite was melting it into the soup). If you can scrounge some margarine or butter and don't mind scorching the bottom of your cups/canteen, you can fry fritters out of the mashed potatoes and fruit.
I had my 21st while deployed to the Solomon Islands; the PNGDF troops I was with took the sugar, smarties, and chocolate out of their ration packs, and got some local village ladies to bake me a pretty sweet birthday cake
Film clip. Cute way of saying video.
Yep, those breakfast biscuits (or whatever they called them) were like a brick, someone eventually told me to soak them overnight, they weren’t too bad, but who had all night to soak bickies? These were in rat packs in the mid seventies.
Also forgot about the patrol rations, they had two plastic bags of dirt like food that you added hot water to, they actually rehydrated pretty good but used too much water.
I watch this before I go to bed. Your voice is like a lullaby, soothing, a d then I dream about mre's.
