    Great review! I’m only getting 2.5 hours video with it set at 720p and light flashing on high. How are you getting 4 hours?

    Has your Fly 6 CE performed reliably? I've had problems with mine shutting down mid ride for no apparent reason. I had another unit which died after 4 years. At the price paid though, I should think that it would have lasted longer. Customer service is a problem, mainly because Cycliq is in Australia. The time differential stretches out communication and shipping to there and back is expensive. I've seen many comments to the effect (and I agree) that this a great concept that suffers from poor execution from both hardware and firmware issues. How do you feel about it?

    • @Veloworthy
      @Veloworthy  2 роки тому

      No problems so far as long as you update the firmware regularly. Battery life and quality of footage hasn't dropped.

      Yes, I've had problems over a couple of generations of FLY6. Great when they work. Both of my modern generation units are non-functional. Bought two $25 sport cameras (with a variety of mounting mechanisms), they don't have the fine resolution but will still observe what happened to me. One of those observed a dog that took out my front wheel, so I knew why I crashed.

    I've got a mixed view on my Gen3. It can be a bit random, sometimes the light just switches off mid ride (still plenty in the battery) and the vibration reduction is inadequate (I'm riding a bike with rear suspension but there is still too much movement of the image).
    On the plus side I have used the footage to get inconsiderate drivers to think about their driving ...

    Can you turn off the circe light? Have not been able to turn it off. It would allow to use it record some things without shining a red light into it.
    Also can one use it as a rear dashcam in a car?

    For the lock. Is it universal like garmin that i can find some spare part from online?

    • @Veloworthy
      @Veloworthy  2 роки тому

      Cycliq only makes their own proprietary lock system, so it wouldn’t work with a garmin.

    This was a good video, but how long have you owned the Fly6? I have had 4 of them, a Gen 1, Gen 2 and two Gen 3's. All of these have failed, not able to turn on or connect to the app within the first year. Cycliq has graciously replaced each (for a small charge) except for the last Gen 3, this last time, they told me that it was not covered under the warrantee because it was a replacement. I like the device however, I am tired of shipping them back and spending more money........... From my perspective, thee Fly 6 is not very reliable. The Fly 12 is awesome...

    • @stevehusson1774
      @stevehusson1774 Місяць тому

      The problem with the Fly12 is that the battery is non-replaceable.

    Good review. Thank you. I was hit from behind while ride in the paved area right of the "fog line." Three month in rehab. Fortunately, she stopped and called for EMR. But, now the motorist is claiming to be not at fault. It was a arural road and there are no other witnesses. We'll litigate it and I feel confident we'll prevail. Nevertheless, I am getting one of these systems.

    Well, I have Fly 12 Ge2 & Fly6 CE Neither of them will interface with CycliqPlus on my windows 10 laptop over the supplied USB cables. They used to but not any more. I have to take the cards out, put them in a holder & then the card slot. His is the only way I can access video from the cards or update the camera time and settings. It means there is a lag time transferring the card to the camera & turning on the camera to update the time. so the time stamp on the camera video is never correct. sometimes it's as close as a minute or so off on a very good day. If I forget to turn the cameras on immediately after putting the card in, the time may be off by a day of two.
    There is an option to pair the fly cameras with the Garmin 520. They will pair and this will turn the cameras on when the Garmin is switched on, but this overrides the camera settings so I may get an extremely bright light that drains be battery very fast, or I may get no light at all. Turning off the Garmin 520 does not turn off the fly cameras. so they continue to consume battery power unless you happen to be aware & switch off manually. Kind off defeats the point really, so I prefer to leave them unpaired so that I can run the minimal light to preserve power for long rides & not be too annoying to other road users as some modes are absolutely ridiculously fast flash & blindingly bright.
    The electronic image stabilization cause the camera axis to drift all over the frame, making the tramlines too inaccurate for evidence.
    I have raised these issues with Cycliq several times to no avail. They do not appear to be at all interested in supporting these models or the product interface to windows PCs, of even the Garmin pairing.
    They did however replace my earlier fly 6 Gen 2 camera when it got shorted out by water ingress rear wheel from spray on a wet road, not actually raining at the time.

    • @Veloworthy
      @Veloworthy  Рік тому

      From what I've heard from others and looking at reviews, the long term isn't great. The camera tends to lose battery power quickly. I will say that its strong suit is capturing license plates and anything interesting.

    I had one for a few years. The battery eventually gets weaker and weaker and record time gets shorter and shorter. PROBLEM. Battery is not replaceable. I tried. There is no socket. Leads and charging ckt is tack welded/soldered to the ends of the battery. Ridiculous. I would buy it again, if the battery was replaceable.

    • @Veloworthy
      @Veloworthy  Рік тому

      They love to make it nearly impossible to modify. Maybe a tactic to just buy more.

      @@Veloworthy This is a real issue. You can change the battery, but only with a soldering iron and electrical engineering degree. I'm skittish about getting another of these after mine died. Better off with an Osmo Action, first gen. Dirt cheap, 4K, amazing stabilisation and image quality.

    • @howardwilliams1492
      @howardwilliams1492 Рік тому +1

      Ditto the Fly 12CE Bob. There is a video out there showing how to replace the batteries in the original Fly 12, but subsequent versions use a flat mobile-phone type Li-ion cell. I searched the number printed on it but to no avail. Oh, and the unit was wrecked in the process of dismantling. Not reliable, not sustainable.

    • @stevehusson1774
      @stevehusson1774 Місяць тому

      I had the same experience. I've managed to change the battery twice on a Fly6 CE. Regarding the Fly12 CE, I'd never buy one again. I got it apart but the battery is unavailable and EXTREMELY difficult to get at, even with detailed instruction from elsewhere. Cycliq support is terrible and the device needs better engineering.
