My friend has both and likes them a lot. He says there's occasionally issues with the app (it's complicated, he says), but the camera itself has worked flawlessly. I told him of the tons of negative reviews, and he thinks it's mainly due to the complications, and not following instructions properly. I've borrowed both units, and hope to test them out for a week. By the way, he got a reply from their customer service in 4 days. One thing I am curious about is why they put a light in the unit. Keep it simple. People can add a separate light.
I used to own the original Fly12, which included a WiFi connection to enable video transfer. I understand that in order to save space and weight, Cycliq did not carry WiFi over to the CE editions, and I don’t miss it. I’ve found a hard wired SD reader for my phone functions much more quickly and simply than the WiFi transfer ever did.
While the Fly12 has worked flawlessly for years, the Fly6 Aquiles heel is the top cover. Water intrusion through the top cover has rendered THREE units useless. Cycliq has been very diligent in replacing them but the frustration made me quit asking for replacements. Rubberized covers come loose and the circuit treatment has no value as the unit shorts circuits regardless with the mildest of rain. I sincerely hope that the new generation solves this issue.
I've liked my set but they do have limitations. Not built for rain exposure. Not that great at night as you've said. Battery life isn't great. Video quality is good and overall I'm glad to have what they provide.
The fly6 ce was good will it lasted which was about a year. Cycliqs customer service isn't great... said my warranty was over and that there was no servicing department. For a $200 camera it wasn't worth it.
Stay clear of Cycliq products. So far i have 2 units that failed. 1st unit had faulty battery causing the unit to failed and battery leaked inside. Got a replacement unit and in less than 6 months, the unit suddenly cannot turn off or on. A blue ring led light keeps flashing on my unit and i followed their instruction to do a master reset but nothing was resolved. Tried connecting to my PC but did not detect any device and their App also could not detect the unit. Submitted a ticket to Cycliq customer service and they do not tell you what is wrong with your unit other than asking for proof of purchase. I bought my unit from a reseller brand new but this meant that it is not covered under Cycliq warranty policy.
Good idea but extremely bad quality and support ! Bought the Fly6 in Mar 2019, after just a few months, in Oct 2019, the unit failed to connect to the app and unable to charge. I put up a case to the support team, the response is extremely slow sighting high demand for support, until now (Nov 2019), no action yet. Very disappointed with the product and support level. Do not recommend to purchase this product unless you don't mind the short life span.
Hi interested in your fly 6 ce I have had a replacement for mine which was 11 months old the second one failed because water found its way inside through the rubber flap on top and killed its not water proof and I suspect I am not the only one with this problem.
Thanks for the feedback-- I was "this close" to buying both the headlight and tail light from Cycliq.. until I watched a few videos. Yikes. I think I'll stick to my cheap GoPro clone, and use a small USB battery bank with a cable. With a 256 GB SD card and external battery, I can ride 4+ hours without concern for running out of space or charge. Not as 'elegant' as the Cycliq Fly lights, but it seems like they have some issues.
Be careful. The Fly12 is pretty good however I have now have 2 Fly 6 fail. They are NOT made for UK weather. In terms of support the company is Very poor as highlighted by others. Multiple requests for help ignored. Great idea however the whole thing is let down by very poor customer support and reliability.
Unbelievable that good solid handlebar, seat post and seat stay muunts aren't included for the price. Mounts are inexpensive to manufacture. Battery life and clear enough pictures to capture license plates are critical. Anything less is a waste.
Absolute trash company and product. Do some digging and spend your time/money on something that doesn't require constant software updates and dealing with more bugs than Windows 98 or whatever that crap was. Can you say restart? Lezyne makes a good light. GoPro makes a good camera. Garmin does ok at both.
They are beyond bad, I’ve had three sets over the past 8yrs and they all failed within a year, mostly water ingress but lots and lots of soft wear issues too.
My Cycliq 12CE is a complete piece of JUNK. Over a year now and it worked only Once. If you enjoy Horrible Tech support, numerous Firmware updates, SD card swaps and reformating ,,and countless hours trying to get it to work. Feel free to buy one. I bought this because of its long battery life, sadly ,it Does Not Work. My GoPro might only have about 40 miutes of battery life but it works Every single time I use it. This horrible camera is only good for use as a Very expensive headlight.

Thanks for the review, too bad it's so expensive

Where do you put the Fly 6 CE when you have a seat bag?

@@dambuster6387 Hi Hi, got a replacement unit in Dec 2019, after a long conversation. Using it since then, but the battery power seems to get shorter.

I agree now. Exactly SAME experience!! Any other rear and front camera somebody can recommend???
fly12ce £216 or gopro hero 8 black £280 both on amazon. im edging hero 8 more for ya buck
Expensive for something that rarely works correctly.
Too expensive for a "bike dashcam". If the it is gopro quality the price is right.

I still prefer gopro but the batt life is so short, cycliq is too expensive for the quality. They can be better.

Good concept when it works, which is hit and miss: cycliq has had years to work out the kinks but into gen 3 and they still suck.
Wait, they still haven't fixed it in 2021? Jeez...

The Streetlogic is much better...
Better, but at $250 annual subscription fee...that's ridiculous.
Shit camera ! No help at all from cycliq
