  • Growing up, Judy found it hard to find clothes that fit, and was always being told by family members to 'stand straight'. She was confused and hurt, and when she was 24, she found out she had scoliosis.
In 2019, Judy's back pain had developed to the point she could hardly walk a block, and her surgeon advised that she would likely need a spinal fusion.
Listen to Judy's story to hear her journey with scoliosis-specific Physiotherapy, and how even as an adult, she was able to make meaningful change in her life.

June is Scoliosis Awareness Month, and we want to share a couple stories that represent the diverse range of scoliosis experiences. Many adults have scoliosis, and have lived with the condition for decades, which affects them physically, mentally and emotionally.
It's important for healthcare professionals to acknowledge the biopsychosocial effects of a chronic condition like scoliosis, to support these clients in a holistic way as they age.
If you're an adult with scoliosis, what did you takeaway from Judy's story? Do you have questions or thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.
