I know how it feels. I just recently got the bad news that I have scoliosis. I have uneven hips and pelvis, and I am in constant pain. It doesn’t help matters that I am overweight, I can’t exercise without pain , I can’t exercise period . Gotta try physical therapy first .
@@makeupboss3568 It's even sadder that people like you have cases worse than me. I could not even compare my pain to yours because my pain wouldn't even be as bad as you're experiencing.I'm so sorry for what you have to go through right now but just know I'm also here to go through it with you. I love you so much. We can do this! ❤️
I was diagnosed with scoliosis at 15 years old and I’m now 68. I used to have a lot of pain with my scoliosis until 15 years ago, when I started doing stretches. When I get in bed at night, I spent five minutes on my back and no pillows under me pulling my knees to my chest, one at a time and then both together. You won’t be able to do it at first very close to your chest but after a while you’ll get all the way to your chest. Then in the morning before I get out of bed I spend another five minutes doing the same thing. I also, and I think this is the best tip, I keep a chin up bar in my doorway of my bedroom (make sure it’s the kind that screws in, because we can’t afford any accidents with our backs) every morning before I leave my room I hang on that bar with all my weight and I do partial pull-ups to strengthen my muscles in my back and arms and then again when I go in my room at night to go to bed, I do the same thing. During the day I will just hang on the bar when I go by it, and it feels so good and relaxing. Also, I sleep with a full size pillow under my big side and a thinner pillow under my head. I believe this really helps the curve and I know it feels great and lessons pain. Before I started paying attention and doing stretches, my back had a 69 degree curve and lots of pain, now I rarely have pain. My latest X-ray showed that my back had improved to 64 degrees. I have never had surgery but can bend and garden for hours. Always keep moving because if you don’t, you will lose the ability to. For some reason, finding out I had scoliosis never bothered me. You can either feel sorry for yourself and go down that hole, or you can accept it and move on. Either way, you are still going to have scoliosis! Pay attention to your posture and it will become habit to stand straight as you can and to hold you large side in better position. At 68, I can actually do more than most of my friends. I have strengthened my arm muscles so much, that I can actually cross monkey bars. This is something my grandkids brag to their friends about ;) There are many yoga poses that could be bad for your back but many stretches that will work for you. Work to stay flexible! Be very careful about getting adjustments, I’ve had 2 ribs cracked by chiropractors that were not very familiar with severe scoliosis. I have also found acupuncture to be very helpful if you get someone that really knows what they are doing. Massages are wonderful too!
@@azismiely8588, Try to always remember that your glass is always three quarters full! A positive attitude, makes everyone look better and also makes you healthier!
@@lowlow5358, I’m so happy to hear these comments! Remember to do all you can to improve your situation, whether it’s related to physical or mental health. Wear clothing that hangs loosely off your back but looks good. Stand as straight as you can and eat as healthy as you can. You are young and can make improvements now that will really benefit you as you get older. Just educate yourself about the best ways to take care of yourself. One thing we should all do is take care of our bones. Take D3 every day (also get in the sunshine) and take K2 every day. The K2 will help the calcium get into your bones and make you stronger. Also do fun, safe exercise, like gardening or whatever makes you happy. I roller skated til I was 60 and loved it, but decided it was not a smart thing to do with a back as crooked as mine ;) Always try to take the natural route when living. So many medicines will hurt your bone growth, and so many natural foods will help bone growth. I do have a sweet tooth but balance it out by eating very healthy. Don’t worry about being crooked, because that just takes away from your happiness and you can’t change it…but you can improve it! Research everything and don’t believe a lot of doctors when they tell you that a medicine will not effect your bones. Many of them do not know.

Scoliosis can be controlled by yoga poses such as tadasan, ardhachakrasan and morning walk should be made a habit. Take constant breaks while doing your sedentary job. Like in this video you can keep a pillow or foam on your side for at least 15 min every day in the side in which scoliosis has occurred. In India sesame oil is very easily available... please apply that oil daily underneath your back... warming it a little with gentle massage and then taking a hot bag upon that area....the effects will be amazing... morning sunlight is very good for bones. And Yoga of course....May god eases everyone in pain. And take a soft pillow for sure as shown in this video.

Idk why, but ever since I went through my scoliosis surgery I’ve found it the most comfortable to lie on my back. Before, I always lay on my stomach or side. It doesn’t feel very good anyone to lie on my stomach since I’m now very stiff and feel like I’m stuck in that position if I even try. It’s still comfortable lying on the side, but knowing I’ll get a lot of pain in my neck and upper back the next day makes it less worth it. I’m now finally comfortable with lying on my back. (I have 35° Rn btw, around 65-70° before surgery)

I did gymnastics for 14 years since I was 3. I always used to do handstands and make a little bridge with my back. Last year I heard I had scoliosis and I was devastated by the news of not being able to do gymnastics for the rest of my life. They were worried about if I would grow straight if I did gyms, so I immediately had to stop. Sometimes I still feel different and not like I am worth what others are. I k is that’s not true, but the feeling of not being able to do things is unpleasant. And no one at school wants to help me with things. They just like to make fun of me for it. Sorry. Just wanted to have that off my chest. Thanks for these tips! Bye! 😽

Would that have a negative effect on the sleeping positions you advised???? I usually try to sleep on my back. I used ur advice. But, will it hurt my back more???*
The brace keeps your spine in place you so won't have to worry about this so much! It's already not comfortable sleeping in a brace so make sure to do what feels best for you!
Thank you for sharing this it could help me to strengthen my way of how to sleep in the right position. I also suffer with the right curative thoracic spine scoliosis...looking forward to more contents
my left side waist is curvier, its worst now...i guess its because i lie on my left sides nowadays alot...and i cant lie on my back its uncomfortable how to fix this?
I would imagine that it doesn't matter so much when you where a brace because the brace prevents you from sinking into the mattress. It's just a matter of how you feel comfortable.... and I know a brace is already not comfortable so you want to make sure at least your sleeping position is comfortable!
I sleep on my back! It’s been some months now that I’ve been doing it and also I started doing it so that I don’t get wrinkles when I grow up and once you start doing it you’ll never want to sleep any other way again
very informative and helpful , thank you, will try side ones, but not sure how I stick to them, I always begin by lying on back and end up on the belly since this is the most comfortable position for me to fall asleep, may be it takes some practice and persistence like in other aspects of our lives :))

I'm just 21 but have been diagnosed earlier with mild levoscoliosis. The pain I've been experiencing is no joke.
Yes you're too young to have to experience pain! Hope you can find some relief in movement :-)
I thought scoliosis is only for me..but now i get more confidence.. I have people with me to support me 💪🏻 thank you everybody.. I need more knowledge about scoliosis and its care
You got this!
@@MoveWithScoliosis thank you 😘😘 it works... I had pain in my back several days... It continued so i thought something is going to happen to me...but you taught me the best way to sleep ❤️ it worked now there is no pain... I approached many doctors in kerala but they never tell anything like this before... They all prefer surgery.. I was so depressed no im happy 😘😘😘 thank you love you so much
I’d sleep on my back but apparently I’m a horrible snorer 😂 Amazing demonstrating with the t-shirt. My curve is just like that!
ha! Good point 🤣
Thank you for the ideas for a good night's sleep. It seems a little pain never goes away.
*me with scoliosis currently laying on my stomach*
nothing wrong with that if you get plenty of movement otherwise and keep your body strong!
Wow! This explains why I wake up in tears at night! 😩 no more tummy sleeping for me! I thought it was my mattress.
Good job thanks !!!
God bless you!!!
Thank you!
Very clear, concise help. I feel better already. Thanks so much for your visual demonstration with the lined tank top.
Bye! 😽
Are you better sweetheart?❤️
I have scoliosis was diagnosed 2015 but been feeling pain from 2010 and didn't know. Luckily I was only mild, I was on physiotherapy for almost a year it did really helped. Even the heat strikes. These days the pain coming back even more often before I stop exercising yrs now. Daily I have pain.
It's very helpful.Thank you so much😍
You're very welcome :-)
You said the most important thing is being comfortable and getting a good nights sleep. I am most comfortable lying on my front. I don't get a good night sleep when I lay on my back, plus I have a pinch nerve and it makes me feel worse.
Who else wants a scoliosis T-shirt to help figure out what I'm doing wrong?
it is very useful to visualize your curve!
I want
I want cause i have a bad scoliosis(severe)
@@zaichristel6492 hi. may i know how old are you and what country are you from,
I also have levoscoliosis on lumbar spine and i also suspect i have thoracic spine curve but i still dont know where is the curve left or right
@@Kierieven Hi, I'm from Philippines. 26yrs of age. you'll notice if the curvature is at the right side (dextroscoliosis) if it is in the left side (levoscoliosis) .
I had an 84 degree curved back and I just got done with back surgery I’m 10 too 🥰🥰
Thank you so much 😊!
best decisions I made is subscribing on your channel. I find your lessons very helpful.
1:35 I was in this position watching this video
As long as it was only one video and you did some yoga afterwards you're ok 😉
I’ve been sleeping on my front from that first example and I have scoliosis from cheerleading, thank you for showing better options.
You are so welcome!
Thanks for your video.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching
I have scoliosis too. Sleepless night. I dont know what is the best position while in bed 🤧
thank you for this video. God bless you. From Philippines ❤️
I used to sleep on my stomach when I was young before I knew I might have scoliosis
Me too! In fact sometimes I wake still up in that position.
Same💀💀
Thanks for taking time about this
My pleasure!
my belly is my favourite place to sleep D:
I sit on my stomach on the floor sometimes to relieve my scoliosis pain like I was doing while watching this but my doctor told me to sleep on my back and my pain will go away so she speaks truth
Unfortunately, lying on my belly would ease the pain if it's too unbearable for me brb crying
I literally thought I was the only one who cried about my back and I feel like I’m a pain to others cause it’s constantly bothering me
@@desireemarie2918 you’re not alone buddy ;”)
Cry if you need to, if you don't it will cause more pain because you are drowning it in your heart and sooner or later the body will not be able to contain it and will cause more damage, feel the pain just do not let it consume you and cry, scream if you need to, you will feel better after expressing your struggle
Thank you very much for this explanation
ok but sleep paralysis
Church reopens soon
That’s exactly why I’m scared to sleep on my back
this is exactly what i’m scared of i was about to comment this hahah
i always get sleep paralysis when i sleep on my back- 💀💀💀
Why what happens when one sleeps on back !
This video very very useful to me tqqq i am big fan of you's madum
If i sleep every way every sing night ebery night each postition I do nothong happens to me i n each morning i wake up and nothing happens tk me im normal
this all explains why i aaalways wake a with a horrendous back pain
Yoga exercise pls. I think we have the same scoliosis
I have got nearly 200 videos on my channel! Most of them are yoga practices... take your pick :-)
jackie varquez Google Somatic exercises, gave me huge relief!
I thought I was crazy for using so many pillows. Thanks Yogaberry for showing me otherwise!
You’re welcome 😊
"The worst sleeping position for scoliosis." Literally instinctively thats always how i want to lay omg haha ugh noooo lol at least i know now
I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was about 8
My right side goes numb when I sleep on my back because my shoulder blade protrudes
Maybe better for you to sleep on the concave side of your thoracic curve in that case!
I have a nerve issue between my shoulder blades. If I try to sleep on my back I get numbing and tingling down my right side
Romina Barbieri Me too!
I just watched this and the yoga poses to avoid video. Super important info 🙆😮💖💕 Thank you 🤗 💖
Fantastic! Glad you found them useful!
I choke with saliva when I sleep on my back
Those pillows look soooo comfy..
the most important thing for good sleep is that you're comfortable :-)
I have cervical scoliosis pain in whole neck and upper spinal cord and strentum can't lift weight also and do work
sorry to hear that. Yoga can be very helpful for scoliosis - especially if you suffer from pain. Maybe check out some of my other videos. All the best
Today I find ur channel thankyu bcz I have thats problem
Welcome!
*I've been diagnosed with scoliosis and, I sleep with a back brace. The right side touches my armpit and the left side goes down to my thigh.
@@MoveWithScoliosis Thank you! This really helps!😊❤
same lol being comfortable is pretty much impossible
Thank you for sharing this it could help me to strengthen my way of how to sleep in the right position. I also suffer with the right curative thoracic spine scoliosis...looking forward to more contents
my left side waist is curvier, its worst now...i guess its because i lie on my left sides nowadays alot...and i cant lie on my back its uncomfortable how to fix this?
In my case it's my right side. It's soo awkward for me. Like the right part of my waist is much more snatched, the right boob is much bigger etc..😢
multifandom girl omg same with meeee
Sameee..what did you guys do??
Is it better to sleep on your back or your side if you're using a brace?
I would imagine that it doesn't matter so much when you where a brace because the brace prevents you from sinking into the mattress. It's just a matter of how you feel comfortable.... and I know a brace is already not comfortable so you want to make sure at least your sleeping position is comfortable!
@@MoveWithScoliosis thank you!
Thanks I’m going to try your tips an hope it helps
she said everthing i do on sleeping on my stomach kkkkk
I mostly sleep on the back I really think that it helps alot :)
We recently found out that my cousin had scoliosis and now my mom wants me checked. Is there any sleeping positions to just prevent it all together?
There is a genetic component to scoliosis so checking is probably a good idea. You don't have to worry about this unless you have pain!
Thank you for your video! I hope switching sleep position helps me to avoid pain as ppl said in the comment box
I sleep on my sides, back and RARELY my stomach. I have scoliosis too lol
good to mix it up :-)
I sleep on my back! It’s been some months now that I’ve been doing it and also I started doing it so that I don’t get wrinkles when I grow up and once you start doing it you’ll never want to sleep any other way again
I hadn't even thought about wrinkles!
Is it only me but my scoliosis affectes my ribs so one sunk in and the other is coming out
yes that's very common!
yep..same here..making bust looking awfully uneven😂
Oh my god really tank u so much i will do it today
you're welcome!
But when ppl sleep they move different position so they wake up on whole different position like me
sleep in a coffin
yes of course!
very informative and helpful , thank you, will try side ones, but not sure how I stick to them, I always begin by lying on back and end up on the belly since this is the most comfortable position for me to fall asleep, may be it takes some practice and persistence like in other aspects of our lives :))
Bob and brad talk about this
Love them 😃

I used to use a towel under my waist when I slept on my side
Now I use towels in other places that I sleep on my back
thank you for this i'll try it out
i had a sleep paralysis laying on my back lol
Jun I have a nerve issue between my shoulder blades. If I try to sleep on my back I get numbing and tingling down my right side
Yes that happens to me if I sleep on my back.
Thank you so much for your demo. Very coprehensive.
Glad you enjoyed it!
this has been very informative, i recently found out that i have a dextroscoliosis, and now i know how to better manage my condition.
p.s. the top with the curved spine really paints the picture!
thank you!
Please Since you’ve been sleeping like she said How’re you feeling now? Has the curve improved?
