Ah Christchurch my favorite city in NZ. Grew up there in the 60's, Dad was a helicopter pilot for a local company at that stage. In those days I used to be able to go out to the airport & over to the Deep freeze base & the US crews would take you all over the Hercs. & Globe Masters(C-124) alas no longer possible, the good old days. The Catalina flight was the double sunrise with mail & 4 passengers !!!!!.(churbro)

Also great footage I recently had a NZ trip flying over to Christchurch on Emirates (EK412) it was a great flight and complimented by the great EK lounge in Sydney. I cane to Sydney on Qantas from Wellington I also got the front seat and had the same issue With not being able to use the screen until after takeoff. Enjoy NZ and keep producing great videos in 2019

I must admit that a JetConnect flight was one of my worst experiences. We had to be in Auckland at a certain time of day, and after I'd finished work for the week. I left it up to my wife to book the flights from Brisbane to Queenstown. Well, a "business class" booking with QF was in reality a Jetconnect flight from BNE-AKL, then Jetstar to ZQN and back to AKL. We still had the higher baggage allowance though. Thank the stars for code sharing! AKL to BNE was upper deck on an Emirates A380-finally a decent business class! The Jetconnect flight was on a plane that had a broken/stuck seat and the IFE was as sticky as a barrel of strawberry jam. The Jetstar flight was, well, a Jetstar flight. Say no more. Surely the worst QF business class experience (and the last time I spend money with QF). Sure it wasn't the end of the world, I just adapted and scrub Qantas from my choices. Life goes on.
Yeah you can get caught with those Jetstar code shares! I do like Qantas although the 737 business offering is only average hence why I don't think it's worth the extra cost over economy. That is, of course, unless you fly in an A330 which has a much better business seat.

I was in NZ last weekend. I am a huge fan of thr B737 but I can't do 'the ditch' in them. I tried it once and never again so I flew Air NZ which is another story in itself!

Hi Paul, great review again. We are looking forward to our visit to NZ in 2020 and was looking at options via SYD for a quick night stop on route. Looks like you were on the late arrival into Christchurch which I wasn’t keen on but looked at the EK option which seems to be more of a gentleman’s timing. Not sure whether to travel biz or economy any views on that? Most like to come into SYD on BA in biz ....
Chur bro! The EK flight is probably a better time if you're happy for an early start. I only selected the QF 737 because I wanted to spend time in the First Lounge :) Economy is fine for such a short flight.

Interesting. I did note that the aircraft was registered in Australia while my previous trans-Tasman flights have been in QF branded 737s registered in NZ. The crew were definitely Kiwis.
A little late to the party on this one - I didn't know Aussies say "sweeet uz" or "JitConnict" - us Kiwi's usually say "sweeet az" or "JetConnect" - LOL - interesting vid though - usually fly this route WLG to SYD return on onward/return journeys - same service/aircraft - always been much fun bar one experience when they "forgot" to load my gluten-free feeding on the plane (pre-booked of course) - the cabin crew were amazing though - they "scrounged" up a good plateful of items that "would" work for me with fantastic smiles and never looked put out by it at all (Was a case of them delivering the "wrong" meal, me pointing out that I had requested gluten-free, them saying "oh shit", and being handed a tray just a short while later with various items and being asked, "will this work?" with a great smile too boot - must say the attention thereafter that I experienced was way better too (than I would normally expect on a "mass" very full flight - these WLG/SYD and SYD/WLG are usually pretty much full flights) like I was now a special "we need to take extra care of this guy" - in general my experience with cabin crew on "JitConnict" and QANTAS have always been favourable with only a few "grumpy" ones encountered in all my many years of transit stops (SYD) to other destinations from there

A little late to the party on this one - I didn't know Aussies say "sweeet uz" or "JitConnict" - us Kiwi's usually say "sweeet az" or "JetConnect" - LOL - interesting vid though - usually fly this route WLG to SYD return on onward/return journeys - same service/aircraft - always been much fun bar one experience when they "forgot" to load my gluten-free feeding on the plane (pre-booked of course) - the cabin crew were amazing though - they "scrounged" up a good plateful of items that "would" work for me with fantastic smiles and never looked put out by it at all (Was a case of them delivering the "wrong" meal, me pointing out that I had requested gluten-free, them saying "oh shit", and being handed a tray just a short while later with various items and being asked, "will this work?" with a great smile too boot - must say the attention thereafter that I experienced was way better too (than I would normally expect on a "mass" very full flight - these WLG/SYD and SYD/WLG are usually pretty much full flights) like I was now a special "we need to take extra care of this guy" - in general my experience with cabin crew on "JitConnict" and QANTAS have always been favourable with only a few "grumpy" ones encountered in all my many years of transit stops (SYD) to other destinations from there
