About the bag story: I'm the lucky guy who received his bag back! Short story: for my first time going to see Band-Maid live, I had prepared some presents (custom guitar picks from Riki-Le-Plectrier) placed in a "Band-Maiko" bag (cute bag coming with the limited edition Band-Maiko cd). They were delighted with the presents ("enchento") but considering the bag is a collector item, they thought they had to give it back to me! I mean c'mon: which other band members would pay such delicate attention to their fans? 5 in a million! ☺ About the long intermission: they were touring during a strong heatwave, in venue without air conditioning, so it was extremely hot and they needed those intermissions to rehydrate. Before the Teddy bear, there's a funny mistranlation incident: a german fan shout "Miku Kanzler" ("Miku Chancellor") - but Kanzler is very close to the japanese "Katsura", meaning ... wig. So she thought the audience member was asking if she had a wig 🤣.
@@ShadeReactsLive what a blessing huh 😉 I came from Belgium to attend this concert and It was well worth the two times three-hour drive! The concert itself was fantastic!
The bag was a special BAND-MAIKO “kinchaku”-bag, that came with limited edition of BAND-MAIKO EP, so the members gave it back to original owner, as it was rare item.
BAND-MAID are a band like no other. The camaraderie, their love, friendship & support for each other & the fans goes waaay beyond just their musicianship alone.🤗
A little background on "The Hug". This was Sept.28, 2019 at the Cambridge Room in Dallas. It was Kanami's birthday. And I was there to see it. It was a small crowd of about 250, if that. And it was my first Band-Maid concert. And if you watch part 1 of the Music Gold Rush videos about Band-Maid, you will learn everything about "Po". Great reaction! Here are the links: ua-cam.com/video/R4PofsQYwn4/v-deo.html (Part 1) ua-cam.com/video/YzWETTu-4iE/v-deo.html (Part 2)
As I understand it, the guy with the bag made custom guitar picks for each member and gave it to them in that bag. The maids are genuinely kind and decent human beings....I mean, here they are in the middle of performing a show yet they are concerned with making sure this guy gets his bag back.
Most bands I know of would not hug each other and have restraining orders on each other. These gorgeous charismatic women truly have a sisterhood formed in the rock and roll trenches, so unique and endearing, what's not to love Po 🤗❤️
Notice how small the venue was. These early concerts were very intimate. To witness this band with that talent and charm up close is an event that stays with you for a lifetime.
There are moments like this at pretty much every okyuji (serving). It can get really crazy during Miku's omajinai time, which she will tell you is the most important time of the okyuji. I have seen Miku get stuffed Miffy and sharks, and Akane get Snoopy and gorillas and bananas. Akane found out a banana squeaked and had to squeak it into Miku's microphone and said she was having fun. The fans had several surprises for the band members on their birthdays during the US tour. These girls genuinely love what they do and thank their fans for supporting them which allows them to do what they love.
Their onstage antics are legendary - my favourite is still the time (in Nashville?) that the rest of the band went bowling right in the middle of Miku's Omajanai time
As has already been suggested the Gold Rush interview with titles will lay out quite a bit of lore. A youtuber Ohrenje has made professional grade documentaries about each maid and they are a must watch for all true Maidiacs.
They have a ton of great interviews, magic spell times, bowling, even how to wash your hands. I find new ones randomly. Paul Reid Smith presenting Kanami with her custom guitar, to behind the scenes working with The Warning and Incubus.
"Hard Wash" is the name of the song they composed for the hand washing video. My favorite part is when Miku shakes her hands off, and it lines up with the double kick at the end.
"Po" is the Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound pigeons make (ie "Coo" in English). Because Miku is a "small pigeon" she took on the "Po" in her speech. And if you want a funny stuffed animal video, see if you can find their show from Phoenix in 2022. A fan gave Akane a gift of a stuffed gorilla doll and a squeeky banana dog chew toy. It was hilarious when Akane discovered the banana squeeked.
You should check out the birthday celebrations. Maidiacs here in the States went all out whenever it was one of their birthdays on their US tour. For Miku's birthday, they got her a $3,000 cake in the shape of her guitar. They made custom sunglasses and custom towels for various birthdays. I think I watched it on MNN, the Maid News Network. Great channel, although they haven't been posting as much as before.
I was wondering how much that cake cost. I put in some money for it. I know we raised enough for the cake and a giant floral decoration too. That was my first Band-Maid concert and it was crazy fun.
I think you are ready for the Band-Maid documentary series that can be found on the Ohrenje UA-cam channel. They are well made and Band-Maid fans love watching reactors react to them. There is one for each member. You'll understand everything you need to know about the ladies, including these on stage antics or as the band calls them MC time or Miku's Omajinai time. The correct order to watch them is, Saki, Kanami, Akane, and Miku. They are a blast and very informative.
There's one where Miku is doing her thing and the rest of them make their way over to a bowling ally next to the venue and start bowling. It's called magic bowling time or something like that. It's pretty funny.
Po is definitely a Miku thing. She considers it pigeon speak. She ends EVERY sentence with po. Miku has said that she believes she's the reincarnation of a 810 year old pigeon.
You need to check out the Ohrenje documentaries. There is one for each member except Miku, being the founder has 3, and they run about 30 minutes each. They can be watched in any order but the best is Saiki, Kanami, Akane, Misa, and then the 3 Miku Documentaries. They will answer all the questions you asked, the production is very professional and definitely worth the watch whether you do a reaction to them or just on your own.
I agree with the people saying to watch the Gold Rush interview. Its a nice starter kit for band maid information. Then if you want to delve deeper watch all the documentaries . If you want videos of them interacting on stage just look up funny moments with band maid by Drive Time. Love your reactions. Love your dog. Love those plants. Love that clock.
In Japanese, "hato" (鳩) means pigeon or dove (Japanese don't have different words for these). Miku's last name is Kobato (小鳩) which means little pigeon/dove. Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound a pigeon/dove makes is "kuruppo". Apparently, Miku thinks she's a pigeon, so she ends most of her sentences with "po". Her solo project is called "Cluppo" which is an alternate transliteration.
There are two versions of the Gold Rush interview, one that is the full 28 minutes and one that is split into two parts; note that the 28-minute version says it is subtitled in English, but it is not actually subtitled. The split version is also an older translation that incorrectly translates the assassin as Croatia.
Just a beautiful, clear high note. A what's amazing about Miku is she could have held that note for twice if not three times longer. Doe's she have a good voice? No, she has a great voice!

During the okiyuji, the Maids take a couple breaks to interact with each other and the audience. My own experience ? They may seem very casual and loose, but they are precision guided. When they say a show starts at 8? It starts at 8. Over at 10? When they walk off stage and you look at your watch, it’s precisely 10. This one was really early (note the outfits). They all have learned more English (especially Miku). She now uses her iPad for translations and prepares remarks for each venue. They ask for local food recommendations, favorite beers, and just talk with people. For those few precious moments, the Rock Goddesses come down to earth and make you feel like they made the trip just for you.
