I have been using this bag since it’s release and has been great! Super lightweight (much lighter than competitors on the same capacity) and you already have your packing cubes there, so no extra to account. I always use it with the shoes only on the bucket part and then move the clothes from the segments to the bucket side as my laundry bag in the way. As the space is interchangeable between those, works great. Just miss the possibly of adding a over the shoulder strap in case I want to use a smaller second backpack with me
Woof, all of those zippers look so difficult and cumbersome to get into. I like the execution on Topo bags of those built-in mesh compartments better, giving you some visible organization but still letting you pack at your own pace. Especially for some breathability, all of those individual bladders should've been the same mesh from Matador's packable day packs and probably sewn as one larger segment with separators. It's a pretty small niche of potentially using a couple of the segments while collapsing the others, but you'd still be relegated to only the top few while zipping the rest at the bottom. Interesting concept, I just don't see many people using this as conceived, particularly with those very difficult zipper openings. People already have a hard time compressing down jackets into the provided stuff pocket, replicating that process for all of your belongings? Good luck.
I needed a TRUE waterproof bag and ended up buying an ORVIS sling - Would love to see a RUSHFASTER best of video with your top choices for people that want TRUE waterproof bags (bags that you could put under a shower head with no problem - most urban design and lifestyle based bags fail because they’re “weather proof” RATHER THAN ACTUALLY water proof -i learned this the hard way when i took a PEAK DESIGN sling out hiking in heavy rain and my stuff got really wet -GLAD I DIDNT HAVE MY PHONE UNPROTECTED :/-ive had to get into exploring duck hunting and fishing gear to get good bags that are truly waterproof -
I am in the PNW (Pacific Northwest) of the US where we have tons of rain. I'm actually very happy with my Patagonia black hole, Peak design, Etc. Making the bags absolutely bombastic waterproof adds so much weight I'm happy with bags like these and then purchasing separate duckback rain covers which I purchase at REI in the states. Good luck with that staying dry thing.
We understand your disappointment. The Matador SEG 42 Travel Bag was indeed a popular choice. However, Matador is constantly innovating and updating their product line, so we recommend keeping an eye on their latest releases. Who knows, you might find something even better suited to your needs! If you have any questions or need assistance finding an alternative, feel free to let us know:)

Love this idea. If they made it more durable and have more of a frame I could get into it.

Would you mind reviewing the Carl Friedrik carry on pro?
Amazing Review!
Could go like underseat bag? Or is too big for that.....from Buenos Aires
It will be too tall for that. Fits on the overhead space, no problem
is this considered a carry on seems to big
According to the Matador website, the SEG42 is carry on size compliant. See the FAQ ection here: matadorup.com/products/seg42-travel-pack. Cheers!
Too bad they discontinued it
