My favorite thing about this bag is that it's a hiking bag that doesn't look like one, especially with the hip belt and trekking pole bungies removed. It can blend in the city as a traveling day pack, or I can add the hip belt back on if I want to check out a trail during my trip. I do wish they'd added some kind of admin panel though.

Having just purchased the Beast 18, the hydration bladder compartment expands to fit either a MacBook Pro 13" or a MacBook Air 13" quite nicely. It does not look like anything larger than these will fit though.

would it fit a mbp with a sleeve?

@@CarlosGonzalezNazar Only if the sleeve is thin. I have neoprene sleeve for my MBP 13", it fits but it's a bit of a squeeze

Beast18 is my dedicated snowboarding and cross country skiing backpack. It's worked great I bought it about a year and a half ago. It's held up fantastic, in the year and a half that I have had it. It will get a lot more use in the future and I do mean a lot. 2 thumbs up, from me.

Im looking for a day bag that I can use when backpacking.
But, I need to be able to load my camera gear inside and put my nalgene water bottle on the size, and a tripod on the outside... Its not the lightest, but not heavy. Wondering how it'll hold.

Will a 32 oz Nalgene bottle fit in the side pockets?

Those loops are not meant to hold trekking poles... They are for ice tools

It's for any tool, including trekking poles.
