There was nothing quite like getting to have a bunch of Big Sky schools move up to DI in my dynasty. Even if it would take years for the BCS to compute Sacramento State into the National Championship game.
I remember getting Madden 02 & NCAA 02 used at GameStop cuz I couldn’t afford Madden 03. Had hours of fun with both games. It was definitely a simpler time lol
Those used sports games were lifesavers. I spent most of my N64 and Sega days a few years behind. I still have great memories of going to Funcoland, looking through used games and seeing what old title I could finally afford.
It's very nice to hear a younger person's voice say reasonable things like good features about the gameplay back then and how there's no reason it shouldn't be as good or improved in 2024.
An underrated feature of this game and other older NCAA games? They had all time rosters and classic teams available in play now to play with or just view and look around. Getting to play with prime Charles Woodson, Peter Warrick, Fred Taylor, and other GOATs was so much fun and it's never coming back either. Now it's all pay walled by ultimate team and you have to spend hundreds of dollars to just play with a couple of those players, before you have to do it again the next year. I am a dynasty guy but I truly enjoyed playing my friends with classic rosters for nostalgia
NCAA 10 for ps2 is the most slept on football game in video game history it plays so good does things the Xbox 360 an ps3 versions didn’t whoever developed that game really cared an for it to be one of the last ps2 gems it’ holds its weight go play it when you get a chance it’s a polished version of this…
I say the exact same thing for Madden 2001 on PS1. It doesn't look as nice, but it was really deep and better than the PS2 title. And the first-year EA Sports games for the PS3/Xbox were not good at all.
@@thetouchback yup, in a weird way each time a new console comes out we go back to square one i honestly think if hardware didn’t progress faster then the devs could learn we would have way better next gen games…
So funny people were worried that CFB 25 would be a reskin of Madden 24. When actually Madden 25 is a bad reskin of CFB 25. EA said “Gotcha…Gotcha…” in the “Kanye” voice.
The passing system with bringing up the icons was meant to simulate a QB concentrating on his reads before tucking and running or escaping the pressure. The game was more so about planting and passing than on the run cross body bombs like games now. Not every college qb was Michael Vick or Brett Favre yet.
I remember the hype and lead-up to this game back in the Summer of ‘01. I ended up scoring a copy a few days before it released at a little mom and pop shop in my little town. Good times.
Was my freshman yr in college. Played this game a ton. Had been into the series since 98, and especially interested in 02 because Weinke was on the cover. Go Noles!
Thank you for doing a deep dive on NCAA Football 2002. There are not a whole lot of these out here on this game, for some reason, I guess some of which you got into. First games on a new console, especially perennial sports games, are not typically the best because the goal is to just get a game on the shelf, not necessarily a great game. I, however, personally put more hours into this game than any other besides NCAA Football 2004 and Madden/NCAA Football 2008. I'm not the type of person that gets every generation of console, much less every new edition of a game every year, so when my parents gifted me a PS2 and this game for Christmas in 2001, I thought I had died and gone to heaven, since our previous console was a SEGA Genesis. I didn't know any better at the time that this game would turn out to be mid, if that. Rather, I was soaking up the huge jump in graphical quality, advanced playbooks and schemes, and dynasty mode with off-season recruiting and roster management that, compared to College Football USA 96, the game I played up until NCAA Football 2002, felt like I had found gold.
As long as ncaa is using the frostbite engine it's going to have the same problems every football game that uses it has. Yeah they can add features and pretty things up but the player actions and tackling is going to be what it is
EA should have built 2 entirely different game engines for Madden and NCAA. But this is EA. They would never put in that much work 😂😂😂😂 this is why ncaa is a reskinned Madden.
I did live it. We clearly overrated 2002 in the grand scheme of things. NCAAF 2001 for PS1 was a significantly better and deeper game. It just didn't look as good. And 2004 saw EA put everything together.
The passing was bad in that certain title. That got better around 09...2010. NCAA is not "Slow" or a reskin of Madden. Thats why we're where we are. Problems. People have the attention span of a kid. Even real games...if it isnt fireworks on offense...they say ''Borinnnngg"
Jesus Christ lived a perfect life and died on the cross for you, and after three days in the grave he was raised from the dead! Jesus is the way, truth, and life. (John14:6) He is the only way to Heaven. He loves you and wants you to repent and follow him! (Mark1:15, Romans 10:9)
Those ps2 ncaa football games hold a special place in my heart. They were so smooth and satisfying
No doubt…. AMAZING times
It was the golden age of football video games! I STILL play them now!
One thing I really wish from 2002 carried over... a robust 1-AA (FCS) lineup.
There was nothing quite like getting to have a bunch of Big Sky schools move up to DI in my dynasty. Even if it would take years for the BCS to compute Sacramento State into the National Championship game.
I was there when it came out and I played the ever living sh*t out of it.

Yeah so true I remember ncaa gamebreaker

Man, hangtimes on punts… what a throwback!
That theme is iconic
Loved this game. Held a special place in my heart
College football 2002 is my favorite game all time.. Nebraska had 7# Eric Crouch He was a Beast 🔥🔥

I basically just play on easy play on ncaa football 2002 due to the passing mechanics being absolutely fucked
I love the font so much lmao it's amazing
The snow looked better 25 years ago compared to now.
Hopefully 2k can make a college basketball video game & NFL football game sooner than later
Better pass blocking than CFB25
I remember the hype and lead-up to this game back in the Summer of ‘01. I ended up scoring a copy a few days before it released at a little mom and pop shop in my little town. Good times.
My option game was unstoppable on this game...won so many bets in college

I never got super into the college football games. They look super fun.
Man we had it good.
THANK YOU for mentioning the rancid fonts!
Miss all the classic ea sports games ❤

06 was the best
Never forget how Shane Gillis hurt his friend Dan Soder and his Arizona Wildcats so much in NCAA 2025. #RIPDAN
Yall are so gay for mid its sad
@@Jamel-i2f It's ok Dan.
NCAA 2003 is the king
Slow development is how real college is.
My first game I brought on my PlayStation 2
NCAA 03 is goated
Definitely weren’t reskins and I played both Madden and NCAA my entire childhood
If we ever get FCS (I double a teams) I want their real staduims.
My first ps2 game
I 100% agree with this game basically being a clone if not now but soon
Man I played this game in Dynasty mode for years…you’re being a lil soft and harsh…

God I loved it
Um 2002 was slow!!! The games after 2002 like 04 and 05 06 was way better
Youngn who posted this video is trippn❗️ NCAAF2002 was dope as F 💯. U had to live it to understand how great this game was.

@thetouchback I missed NCAAF on PS1 because NFL 2K had the gaming community on lock❗️Came back to college 2nd year PS2 was out.
Imagine leaving out GameCube.
Had to start somewhere. Then y'all ruined it with your griping

0:20 No they wasn’t 16-bit college games were definitely different and I’ve been playing madden n ncaa since the first game.

The Xbox version was my favorite football video game ever
This game rocked
