I was a freshman in college when this game dropped. It was my first online dynasty experience. There was a group of 8 that would consistently stay in the league and continue to build our programs. I remember times the league would be maxed out with 12 teams. Our commissioner had the difficulty and sliders set perfectly so playing against the CPU felt like a real challenge. You had to be on your A game because any opponent could give you an L. And the User vs User games were always so intense and competitive. Every win you got was earned and was so satisfying. I miss when sports game would have intros. NBA 2k hasn't has one since 2k17 and madden I honestly can't remember the last time they did. Honestly I feel the biggest downfall of NBA 2k and Madden has been the internet, focusing on making it so that you have to play online to get the full experience which sucks because not everybody still doesn't have internet at times. Not it's a requirement to have it when with the PS2. GameCube. You just plop the Disc in and was ready to GO!
I remember getting this for Christmas and loading it up for the first time on my 360. Makes me remember being an innocent kid again nostalgia may be clouding my judgment but this game holds a special place in my mind.
11 was my favorite that I played. I remember buying 12 the next year and went back to playing 11, and I didn't even buy 13. One thing I remember is how smooth the load times and the menus were in 11. 12 was very clunky, and even 14 wasn't as smooth. 11 overall, feels good, and that means a lot.
I still own this game. I remember when I bought it I knew this would be a classic. And IT IS BETTER than NCAA 14. Ncaa 14 is just hyped up because it was the last one. But if you were playing ncaa games back then, most everyone said that NCAA 14 was a lackluster effort compared to the other NCAA games before it.
Thank you for giving NCAA Football credit for its amazing presentation. I mean, I hate EA as much as the next person, but I simply cannot deny how much they nailed ESPN integration in the 11-14 era.
The only exception - and this may be a nitpick - is the replay wipe animations are reversed in the game verses how ESPN actually used them in their broadcasts. Which I found weird.

Only thing is having to spend literal days editing rosters by myself since the servers are down but this game is just amazing. Winner of national title our commish who was amKng artist would draw them a framed picture that was amazing. Gosh so many hours talking recruits amazing time of my life in general. 30 years old. Prime of my life and prime of gaming.
This intro was outstanding for this game. Also served to highlight why college football is actually a bit better than pro ball, but that's another story for another time. NCAA 11 was a pretty big step after 10 in a direction, but there was still a lot of work that needed to be done and a lot missing from the previous generation's set of games that never found its way to the PS3. As you noted in the video, gameplay took a big boost and this is one of the best looking games you'll see on the PS3. Hits looked vicious, this played as close to the real thing as it got with each team looking the part of its real life counterpart. Clemson ran that high tempo spread no huddle, Nevada ran the Pistol, GT ran the Option. Bama was just starting to become a massive problem, especially on defense so doing much of anything against them was TOUGH. Dynasty was good, but there were many things missing. One of which being Medical Redshirt which doesn't sound like much, but when you consider how frequent injuries are in this game, you could lose someone for a season and that's it. You just had to take it. Recruiting was alright, I personally liked how 10 was set up with the ability to see how your pitches were working real time during a conversation. 11 condensed it and it's what stuck until 13 when they added on the ability to see what players were rated. Gone were the days of seeing what a player was doing in HS with real time stats and whether or not you were bringing a Mister Insert State Here onto your roster or an HS All American. Reality here is, EA left a lot out of what was easily its best mode and sorta kinda got away with it cause the quality of the game didn't slip so bad to where it was noticeable. You still couldn't run Summer Training to get your players ready for the season, no Spring Game to see what your team looked like after graduation and players declared for the Draft. You could still export players to Madden, but this game still felt different than Madden in a ton of ways. Played like it too. Another thing that didn't carry over from the PS2 console, was players getting rattled in hostile venues and you having to have to take the crowd out of the game before you could really audible at the line on offense. One major gameplay thing that really made NCAA stand out, was you had to account for homefield advantage as a visitor. You had to know what you were going to run and realize if you got a defensive look you weren't comfortable with, you either burned a timeout or risked audibling out and praying it worked. Cause if players weren't composed and you called a pass play, they often times ran the wrong route cause they didn't hear the call. This was something that to me, brought a level of realism to the NCAA game that made it stand out and after the switch was made from 2 to 3, we never got it back. 11-13 were to me, the high point of this series on the PS3. 12 brought us the ability to realign conferences as you so desired within Dynasty, no more waiting for a lower tier school from the outside to get invited in. The other significant addition to Dynasty was the ability to be either an Offensive or Defensive Coordinator meaning you only worked one side of the ball and you still got to handle recruiting. (Which you really needed to take seriously, cause again, you have to account for the other side of the ball which is handled by the computer.) 12 introduced the Coaching Carousel where you got to see coaches change jobs and you got job offers based on how you did during the season and what benchmarks you hit. I still don't get how we never got any of the stuff from the older generation back, but EHHHH. 12 was the last game you could export drafts to Madden until 14 cause 13 was uh...yeah. NCAA 13 was good, its pro counterpart was anything but. 14, to me the most overhyped and overrated of the series, added the Coaching Tree to the mix which gave you certain boosts for your coach or coordinator. I think gameplay really dipped in a major way but since it's the last of the series, you really couldn't tell anyone anything about it. This got put on a pedestal, the price for it got hilariously overinflated for a game that's about 10 years old as of this year. Recruiting got worse, as that point thing was utterly abysmal. Gameplay wasn't anything close to what we had from 11-13. Wasn't nearly as challenging and while it looked better, that's really it.
I’m playing in 2023 I literally just won the National Championship against Alabama 17-10 as Penn State in year 3 of dynasty, after getting my tail kicked the previous two years by them.
I personally prefer 14's gameplay overall, but the presentation in RTG as well as the team intros in 11 were revolutionary. When the next college football game drops I hope they literally just port 14's gameplay to the current consoles.
what i truly appreciate ncaa 11 for truly breaking from the madden skin mold narrative bc of the new feature of playing no huddle and being able to access the whole playbook menu while the offense lines up for a new play in the background something madden hasn't fully incorporated in any multiplayer mode
Man i loved this game i had it on ps2 and ps3. I put so many hours into this game very underrated GOAT status. I hope the next college football game can rekindle that spark.
I miss my PS3 version and love my PS2 version !!! I remember putting in hours with Auburn and Cam Newton and Russell Wilson and NC State during the latter part of 2010. Thank u for this. This still gets some love in my house. Oh and the replays are still the best I’ve seen in any football game
both the xbox 360 and ps2 versions were perfect
My favorite sports video game ever
I was a sophomore in high school when this dropped, this was legendary very nostalgic
Road to Glory careers as a edge and MLB in this game were so, so so fun
I’m playing in 2023 I literally just won the National Championship against Alabama 17-10 as Penn State in year 3 of dynasty, after getting my tail kicked the previous two years by them.
I personally prefer 14's gameplay overall, but the presentation in RTG as well as the team intros in 11 were revolutionary. When the next college football game drops I hope they literally just port 14's gameplay to the current consoles.
I agree NCAA 06 is god tier and full of nostalgia for me. This vid makes me want to go back and revisit 11
Get chills every time with that open!
No cap that intro got me hyped, too bad I’m at work
I remember exporting my ncaa class into madden and drafting my college players. Amazing
That intro was fire.
The game was really fun too.
I wish they’d just bring back everything that’s good and improve on it.
Bought this at a flea market awhile back, best $5 I ever spent
Oh! I was addicted to this game!
what i truly appreciate ncaa 11 for truly breaking from the madden skin mold narrative bc of the new feature of playing no huddle and being able to access the whole playbook menu while the offense lines up for a new play in the background something madden hasn't fully incorporated in any multiplayer mode
I still have this for ps3. Play it pretty regularly it really is an all-time great game from the experience and look of it to the actual play..
Man i loved this game i had it on ps2 and ps3. I put so many hours into this game very underrated GOAT status. I hope the next college football game can rekindle that spark.
Still play it to this day. Probably my second favorite behind 14
I miss my PS3 version and love my PS2 version !!! I remember putting in hours with Auburn and Cam Newton and Russell Wilson and NC State during the latter part of 2010. It was my go-to PS3 game until I got NBA 2K11!! More importantly, the Presentation was on point and the game felt fun and responsive!! I’d say it’s the best PS3/360 version that I’ve played this far
this was such a great game, i remember playing this CONSTANTLY from like 2012-2014 back when i still had a ps3 lol. dynasty is broken on the 360, which i have now for older titles, players don’t progress year by year. i’ve been stuck playing 14 for the last 5-6 years, but i can’t complain though lol
Dynasty is not broken on the 360 they progress just fine for me lol
I still play it till this day
Funny because I just ordered this for my PS3 last week and it just came in today I missed this game so much
I still play NCAA 11 to this day. Mostly I’m on NCAA 13 because the rosters are a lot easier to find
I still play this game. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas I play it.
