First of all, thanks for the great info on disabling the AVAS. I hate hate hate it! (More on that later.)
After watching your video, I immediately ordered the 8-ohm resistor and got all my soldering gear ready. Then I went out and pulled the plug on the acoustic alert speaker. Before adding the resistor, I went for a quick drive to see the warning that everyone was talking about. Funny thing, tho - it didn't appear. Over the weekend, we drove about 75 miles and never saw it.
[EDIT] Apparently my car gave me a 100-mile grace period, because after a few days, the alarm started appearing.
I didn't really want to cut into the wires, so I soldered some 20-gauge solid strand wire to the resister terminals. I was able to push these into the plug and they fit pretty tight. I then put a baggie over the whole thing and tie-wrapped it shut to seal it off from the elements.
    [SOAPBOX]
I understand the reasoning behind the law to insist on the AVAS in electric cars, but I don't understand why they have to be so freakin' loud! Was this volume part of the legislation, or is this a case of Honda saying, "Hey, look how much we care about safety! We're louder than everyone!!" And if they're going to put something in place, why not make it sound like an engine so that people who can't see you understand what they're hearing and don't think that The Rapture is beginning.
I spend my summers in a campground. Often on Sunday mornings, my wife and I used to like to get up at the crack of dawn and head in to this bakery, grab some coffee and a few muffins and eat them by the waterfront. But since purchasing this car (and until now) we have had to give that up, because we're pissing off so many people driving by with our screaming car while they're trying to sleep. As a matter of fact, a few people have told me that they were thinking about buying a hybrid, but after hearing mine, they're sticking with gas powered engines.
    [/SOAPBOX]

It’s like I suggested this 9 months ago lol. I would suggest not cutting off the plug and just use two wire taps instead. Just cut back the plastic shielding to expose the wires so the taps fit. This way you still keep the plug and can reinstall the speaker for any inspections easily.

Hi, thank you for all your videos on CR-V Hybrid. Been following you for some time now. I bought the same car and I've been consistently grappling with a concern where all the engine lights on the dashboard stay illuminated. Despite making numerous visits to the authorized dealer, a solution remains elusive. I'm curious if you've experienced a similar issue with your 2023 CR-V Hybrid. Dealership can't really pin point where the problem is.

After driving for a minute everything goes away so I never made a big deal about it. It's some kind of glitch where system does not have enough time to analyze and test segments prior of starting the vehicle.

I own a 2024 Honda CR-V sport hybrid and one of the main reasons I bought it was its IIHS top safety plus rating. Why is that important to me other than the safety factor? It keeps the ongoing cost of insuring the vehicle down well below average. It got a "superior" rating in the pedestrian safety test. I suspect part of that rating is because of the pedestrian alert sound it makes. Is it a new sound I've never heard on a car before? Yes, but not particularly annoying.
