Joel is such an articulate person, we need more people to manifest his ideas

Fascinating guy, but this video does not showcase all his ideas. Check out his interview on Joe Rogan Experience podcast where he talks about what the world was like before the "industrial farming" revolution of the 40's, global warming etc. Interesting guy.

Amen, Hallelujah & thank you Joel. You put my thoughts into words time & time again. The witness, among other things, Christians have lost - even downright thrown away - by being so oblivious to good stewardship. This wasnt always the case, either, as I see in older books i read. More a recent century thing. Also, american Christians talk about freedom on one hand, & consistently give it away & talk like socialists on the other, to mix my metaphors... ;) . As a midwestern, dairy farm raised, homeschooled, had a mom who shopped at our tiny health foods coop when it was new, in the early 80s, as a fan of Weston A. Price foundation etc. Etc. & you , I'm thanful for the Christian friends I have who are similar ( my miraculous, answer-to-prayer best friend, for one) but man, the midwestern farming community Christians are SLOW to realize how bad "we" are doing, stewardship wise... . Wish you would do a church tour thru the midwest ! I'd love to help !

52:30 reminds me of verses like " Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies" & of course .. " pride goes before a fall" .

This was such a powerful message. This may have been his best. Really really great job.

I love that phrase "constipation of imagination".

god is in all things and so our reverence for life and creation is also for god I think he makes very compelling points and is a strong voice for common ground at a time when we need to learn to cooperate with each other He also does it with a good dose of humor thank god

You will not find any of these things in my house, none of them. I have been on the worst possible income for as long as i can remember but i made the shift to 'organic' and local. Where there is a will, there is a way, but you need to want it badly enough. It requires an almost complete purification of daily life. Make no mistake about it. You either want this or you want that, not both.
I rented a small piece of land that is costing me between 1/20 to 1/15th of my entire yearly income (not even mentioning the upkeep of tools, purchase of seeds and maintanance of vehicles and buildings, that comes on top of that) but i grow pesticide and herbicide free, food there for myself in harmony with the local ecology and with respect for the soil. The money i save that i would have spent on supermarket food normally, goes into buying things that i don't grow, at the local little organic foodmarket, a town over. I'll even have a fancy bottle of organic elderberry wine, some organic oranges or an artisan sausage if i want. I buy wisely and i buy just what i need. It is too dear to let it go to waste. This is the real cost of food.
I am drowning in glorious food almost constantly unless it's the dead of winter or early spring. Then i buy a bit more. Yeah, no pizza, no cellphone or other things i couldn't care less about. I don't even have a car, i live too locally to justify having one. I ride a bicycle and a simple electric city scooter. Costs me 25 cts per day to charge for a 10 mile radius. It is about the choices you make. There is no reason to blame it on the situation you're in. I did that for way too long and it just looks like a waste of time to me now. The inner nagging of fading foodsecurity i had for 15 years, living from paycheck to paycheck, has completely evaporated. If i want food, i go to the garden and grab me some. Then i go have a chat with the shopkeeper and see what local delicacies they have today and share garden stories. It's a wonderful life. I wish that for everyone who pursues it.

Interesting comment on creation worship vs. creator worship. That's exactly what your torah says: never worship anything that is manifest on earth, i.e. the creation. That would include that dude jesus. Think again.

Jeff : I get what youre saying, & yes, it takes some solid scholarship to sort through it all, but mainly, prayer. If you really want to know, double check that & pray sincerely & often, (about if youre wrong about anything signifigant ). What about all the prophesies in Isaiah which Jesus fullfilled ? All the scriptures pointing to our saviour being both God himself yet a decendant of David ? Read the books of John & Romans too ! Than pray. Plz just check it out ! I've prayed, extrenely sincerely, myself since I was young about these very things, ( & have seen God's leading all along the way). I'll keep praying & pray for u !

I love Joel's ideas and innovation and nurturing approach to farming and communities. But I disagree with everything he says about God and religion. It breaks my heart that he is both my hero for his brave and genius approach to biodiversity and life-affirming ecology, and my enemy when it comes to the dignity of human life if those lives are homosexual, or women with an unwanted pregnancy.

We have very, very good reasons to believe in, trust & obey God ( scientific, scholarly & common sense ) .. just like if you listen to things put out in eco & esp. vegan circles, you'd be persuaded that Joel , Allan Savory & others methods don't work, & so on .. there's also the "other side of the story" , the rebuttles to the rebuttles, when it comes to God & the Bible. At least learn & respect that we aren't idiots. Neither do we (as least those of us who know our Bibles & have grown in grace) not love & & empathize with those who feel that they are homosexuals or have a need to abort their baby. Like any time we have reasons though, to disagree with other's conclusions on what to do about those feelings, that may be actually love. Actually dignity - affirming. We think they deserve to know the truth, the alternaive views, the potetential consequences, etc. . We, of course, also, when it comes down to it, have to defend our own dignity to not deny our own convictions of truth just because someone else disagrees, if their feelings get hurt by it, if they feel offended ( not necessarily defending all legislation of these positions, attempts, tho. There are some fine lines, & I respect those who i disgree with on this, but I think a lot ofbis unbiblical..). Just because there may be those who abuse these people, supposedly out of the same convictions we carry, doesnt mean we can turn our backs on God or what we have been convinced of is undeniably His word to us. Everyone should be able to understand this, cuz they thenselves decry, say, child abusers, yet dont burn down their houses, or other acts of violence & terrorism etc. . Well, neither do I & no Christain I personally know well, would ever beat up someone for being homosexual or participating in abortion. We would never spray paint slurs, etc etc. . We also give, very sacrificially to help pregant women in need, in many ways. To help those traumatized by abortions ( not even by a pro life billboard, but by the abortion they went thru, itself. Talk to these women ! And dr. & nurses & fathers... ). To house & adopt children in need. On & on. We do put our lives & wallets where our mouths are, btw. .

God loves all people. Christians also love the people you mention when they follow and imitate God. You don't have to make him your enemy.

@@johnfitbyfaithnet I am the enemy of his ideas in these areas I mentioned. I also mentioned how much I admire and appreciate the man himself. It would seem you and I are on a similar page concerning these issues, so I don't understand your comment.
