I was told about this video and had to come watch. WOW. I am absolutely blown away that you took the time to learn the history behind the making of "my dream job" and truly truly appreciate the depth of which you talked about every aspect of Spider-Man Quality of Life. Thank you so very much. You were So kind and SO respectful to my plight and I am so grateful. This was such an enjoyable hour to spend reminiscing with you. What a crazy experience. ♥
I wish Scott Christian Sava would get the opportunity to do another Spider-Man comic now. Cuz he's evolved so much with his art style and is an amazing artist.
I agree, this comic looks SO early 2000’s cgi. I saw so many comics with that style of art through the 2000’s and it was never the fault of the artist, it was the fault of the technology available at the time and the company for being so desperate to be cutting edge.
As an aspiring artist, I understand why Sava would be proud of drawing Spider-man and getting paid for it. I'd bragging about it for the rest of my life
@@the_rose_garden01 I'm inclined to agree with you. As one of my first comic series as a child, it was incredibly off-putting seeing Food Fight level visuals in a comicbook.
The power guessing part was so fucking funny, and then Sal explains the character and I lost it Holy crap this episode is already an all timer. !!UPDATE!! The ending of this book is probably the most amazing thing I've ever seen and I will now go looking for this in singles or trade. One of the best episodes ever, applause all around folks!

Seeing the art in this makes me wonder... If you redid this whole book, panel to panel, in Gmod; would it look better or worse? And if you need a model for the snake lady, use the one from XCOM.
Honestly, I’ve been thinking about using Unreal Engine 5 to try and make a good looking CG art comic book. I mean, with Ray tracing and meta humans I’m think it would be pretty easy to make something that looks good (at least something better than 2002).
Honestly, the Monano scheme ain't too far out of the realm of plausibility given the "licensing" of products today. You have to use ink from the printer manufacturer, you have to use creamer from the coffee machine manufacturer. I can imagine a company saying "you have to use our fertilizer for our seeds or else"
@@HOTD108_ That’s just bizarre and immature honestly. There have been plenty of bad DC and Marvel content put out and if you still consume any of it, you would be a hypocrite.
Honestly I appreciate this show so much. It’s been such a consistent part of my weekly agenda since 2015 and it’s like coming to hang with friends just watching this. Through the best and worst times of my life this has been such a conforming constant that I have nothing but love and reverence for.
I'm a fan of when you guys try something outside the box. I understand it may not be super profitable but sometimes the barely heard of stories make for the most entertaining episodes
So on an earlier episode of Back Issues Sal talks about a comic that has the worst art ever and how the artist recently said how proud he is of it and it was the only book he ever worked on. Curious if this is the book lol.
Quesada leaving is truly great news. Used to like his artwork but not as much as dozens of better artists. Thanx for covering "obscure" stories that I'll never read Sal, you guyz never fail to entertain tremendously.
I remember getting the random extra large issue at 9 or 10 years old and I was obsessed with the art. 3 to 5 years later I found the book in my closet and tried to reread it as I was getting back into comics and immediately threw it away. Ahhhh the memories. Thanks back issues
I love Greg Rucka, I wouldn't be the comic fan I am today without him and Brubaker. And I definitely get the classic noir vibe he was going for here, but God damn man, some writers just don't fit some heroes.
I'm pretty sure the ending is supposed to be that Yith's heart grew 3 times larger after seeing Connors's anger over his wife's death. Not that she's in love with Spider-Man or the lizard. The ending is still fucking stupid as hell tho.
I kept seeing a bunch of these singles in a back issue box and all I could think was “I wonder if Sal and co would ever cover this….nah, probably not”. And here we are about a month-ish later. I’m so glad I was wrong 😂
Back Issues is simply the best place to get quality and entertaining coverage of the shittiest comic books. Every UA-camr already has every major arc covered, but none can match my favorite hosts digging through the worst publications. 😂 I love y'all so much and you make life way easier!
Oh ikr? I love every time its an obscure classic or just the never talked about worst of the worst. Still love the major event coverage tho cuz they get so crazy now the reactions are HILARIOUS
The strange part is that this back issues unlocked a forgotten memory, I remember owning the spiderman encyclopedia, and i vividly remember flipping to Y and seeing the snake lady, I remember thinking that the art was a print mistake or that it had to be from a terrible cartoon, I didn’t know the weird back story behind it, now i know and its still weird.

For some reason I react emotionally when sal says a certain comic book issue didn’t do well, because the formula works for a good book or a bad book, and any in between. I started watching back issues with the kingdom come episode, one of the best comics of all time beyond the shadow of a doubt. The next book i saw them cover? VENOM RETURNS. Snake women and lizards, it's all reptiles all the time. Also Yith won't have to be on the run since Monnano got absorbed by Bator so who remembers the old CEO got shot by a snake woman, she can come back and be in a love triangle with Spiderman
