I am 74 years old and suffering from cardio vascular coronary heart disease,I am a lonely man and I have nothing to do, but by watching you young lads makes me feel happy and makes me young.
Der_Benson honestly confused to why they picked doom, he's not American and tried to destroy New York multiple times. If anything doom would have used it to make Latveria look better. Magneto should have been chosen
Ike of Pyke I’m still baffled at that. Out of ALL the villains in Marvel, they chose Dr. fucking a Doom to cry over 9/11. That ruined the issue for me, tbh. It was such a silly ass moment in such a serious story.
@@welshinc5782 but after genoshia, i doubt eric would be shedding any tears over new York being bombed. But still a better choice than Doom. Should've been kingpin.
I really liked adult Peter that wasn't a photographer, but a teacher, lived on his own and acted more like an adult even with his own struggles in terms of his life. I read this when I was 11 and I felt more of a connection with this Spiderman over Ultimate Spidey that was geared towards me as it was released, as much as JMS wrote arguably some of the worst arcs of Spiderman, I love Peter Parker in this run more than any other. He doesn't seem like he is struggling to make ends meet, he is on his way to becoming a functioning adult and not a 20 something that looks like he barely has shit together.
I kind of see a way to interpret Doom's weeping: He may be a ruthless monarch, but even HE has reasons or things to gain from what he does. Maybe this made him feel sadness- to cause such destruction for nothing but to instill fear. Doom weeps
Another HILARIOUS episode. Ben and Ethan ask ALL the right questions, like always. An sal sensei dropping knowledge again. After my crap day of work ComicPOP brought me to life again. Again nj represents big time and thank you all for content that I can get lost in and disconnect from these trying times. Thank you.
the Little House was there for me when I quit that shit many a year ago. Helped get me through that depression of hell that occurs when you kick, all thanks amigos
So what you're saying is that all this time Aunt May was in the dark about Peter being Spiderman. But now he has ended that. So Spiderman ..... *Turned Off the Dark!*
I just wanna let you guys know, you are literally my escape from college. After a long day of work and school, I put on Back Issues and power down. I appreciate you guys more than you know!
This was one of the first Spider-man books I ever got. I gave it to a friend years later along with other tradebacks because he was wanting to get into comics. I don't regret giving it to him but I need to get another copy. Thanks for the great content comicpop team!
Quarantined & laid off from Chrysler for weeks now in Michigan waiting on my unemployment. Really needed this as a welcome entertaining distraction. Thanks you guys. 💯👊🏾❤
The part about being creative being linked to insecurity just made a large portion of my life make more sense than it did before watching this episode.
59:54 "Because actors don't know what movie they're gonna' be in until they get there." "That's not how that works!" I don't know; for how much stuff Marvel Studios keeps a secret from their own actors to avoid the spread of spoilers, I'd say this comic is right on the nose of how Hollywood works. XD
To be fair, as I remember it, One More Day was forced on JMS by Quesada. I believe he quit shortly after because of it, after building their relationship over his run.
He was willing to write it, but he had this big timeline of how Peter and his world would develop since him and MJ didn't get married. But Quesada was like: "The fuck? No, no, no, no, no. It all HAPPENED (Except for the parts I wanted to retcon). But they were just super serious Boyfriend and Girlfriend the whole time." That's when JMS was like: "Yeah no, I don't wanna be associated with this."
The best 'nuff said issue was in New X-Men when Grant Morrison made Jean Grey and White Queen dive into Professor X's psyche, and they're just sniping at each other in silence the entire time. It's great.
Yes! A million times yes! Heart literally skipped as I saw the notification came up on my phone as I did math homework. So happy, probably the most hype I’ve had during quarantine so far. Thank you ComicPOP for making quarantine enjoyable.
Probably the best story of Joe Stazynski's stories I've read so far, can't wait to pick it back up. I really enjoy the moments where Pete's doing his job as a teacher & helping his students, really brings out the everyman hero quality I love in Spidey. Why can't we have that again?
How do you know this is gonna be great? 44 minutes in and loving it. This has to be the most Ethan lpm (laughs per minute) in any episode. Ben in top form as always and Sal is reading Straczynski spider-man which is always the bee's knees in my book! Hope everyone is staying safe out there. edit: Hey Sal you're doing a Great Job!!!!!!!!
sins past and one more day was editorial screwing things up not JMS. I remember JMS talked about how he wanted the kids to be Peter's and not norman's but editorial (quesada I think) changed it to norman
I would LOVE for Ed Helms to play Doctor Octopus whenever they bring him into the MCU. I feel that his role in the very under rated Ted Kennedy flick proved that he could play emotionally vulnerable characters and he seems like an all around nice dude which would make the origin more tragic. I feel that he'd also be age appropriate for being a mentor to Peter and a potential love interest for hot aunt may.
Everyone focuses on the Doom part of the 9/11 issue, but Magneto created a planet wide EMP in Fatal Attractions. If he's personally responsible for crashing EVERY plane in the sky, why would four bother him that much?
I remember my school had only one comic book in the library, and it was a big jms spiderman story where the last page is aunt may finding peter after the stupid vampire fight Haha. I spent years wondering what happened next when I was a kid
57:25 Ben: you’re thinking of “baby I’m yours...until the stars fall from the sky/until two and two is three/yours until eternity” You’re welcome homie!
I am 74 years old and suffering from cardio vascular coronary heart disease,I am a lonely man and I have nothing to do, but by watching you young lads makes me feel happy and makes me young.
Keep up the good fight
Fantastic👍🔥🔥🔥
Hope you are doin good.
Take care of yourself buddy
Im praying for you sir, stay strong
"There are no words." That 9/11 issue from ASM is one of the saddest comics I've ever read because it portrayed it in such a real light.
Doom crying tho
Der_Benson honestly confused to why they picked doom, he's not American and tried to destroy New York multiple times. If anything doom would have used it to make Latveria look better. Magneto should have been chosen
Ike of Pyke I’m still baffled at that. Out of ALL the villains in Marvel, they chose Dr. fucking a Doom to cry over 9/11. That ruined the issue for me, tbh. It was such a silly ass moment in such a serious story.

@@TheSuperNaruto96 damn, kingpin would've made a hell of a lot more sense
I like the fact that the green lantern in the background is green screened into a white lantern throughout the video.
Foreshadowing?
The image of Jameson crying after May stops her subscription made me nearly choke from laughter.
May is REALLY popular with all the guys with tentacles. Makes you wonder...
*Peter:* _sound of dying inside_
It's amazing Tiffany didn't materialize after the 2nd mention of Doctor Strange
Yeah I’m surprised she didn’t just faze into existence upon hearing Doctor Strange’s name
You have to say it three times
Radical Raddish oh so she works up beetle juice rules got it!
Plot twist: She did, but she was just staying as still as Drax.
Peter's face is the one a toddler makes when you find them with a hand in the cookie jar
Aunt May went to the trouble of telling Jameson directly that she was unsubscribing? My Gods she's like a UA-cam commenter!
Wasn't she like his mom in law? I think it's more a "I'm so disappointed in you Jamie, I'm unsubscribing"
1:02:25 you’re doing a great job Sal.
We have waited years and the moment is finally here... here we go.
My favorite part of the JMS run was when Uncle Ben turned out to be a massive badass by fighting Peter's bullies.
28:00
I was expecting Tiffany to bust through the wall
Tiffany pulling a Kool Aid Man would be the BEST!

Doom weeping makes no sense, Kingpin doing it would have been spot on with some interpretations of the character.
I kind of see a way to interpret Doom's weeping: He may be a ruthless monarch, but even HE has reasons or things to gain from what he does. Maybe this made him feel sadness- to cause such destruction for nothing but to instill fear. Doom weeps
My preferred choice to replace Doctor Doom in that story would have been Frank Castle.
He’s weeping because Richards was supposed to give a speech there that day

“Aunt May Retcons that...”
Love you guys 😂
Somehow I just noticed the Green Lantern in the background has now changed into an early 2000's CGI White Lantern.
I think they're doing brightest day
1:02:20 You are awesome sal, your sarcasm and humor is just a delight.
This volume of JMS run has agreeably the best stories of his entire run.
A whole country Got 9/11’d. Sal 2020
They killed Ben? Doesn't Sal have a Black Lantern ring? Dead doesn't mean dead at ComicPOP.
Sadly, Ben Todd was beaten to death with a crowbar by The Jawiin
But sometimes..dead is better
the Little House was there for me when I quit that shit many a year ago. Helped get me through that depression of hell that occurs when you kick, all thanks amigos
I vote Ben lives. But only because I don't want him coming back in a red suppository and an edgy motorcycle jacket.
So what you're saying is that all this time Aunt May was in the dark about Peter being Spiderman. But now he has ended that. So Spiderman ..... *Turned Off the Dark!*

Aunt may dated doc ock because she's a fan of Japanese animation... she's like what them tentacles do?
Can someone get some hot water for my brain, please? And some steel wool for my eyes? Please and thank you.
That’s in my head and is never leaving. Ever
Maybe shes dating doc ock and each arm
Oh god
I wasn't expecting this but I can't wait to hear Sal get into this story.
Didn't call the number, but I Googled it.
The irony of "Big Nerds PC Repair Shop" having a website that's down is great!
Got way more into comics because of this channel! Keep working 🙏🏼
Quarantined & laid off from Chrysler for weeks now in Michigan waiting on my unemployment. Really needed this as a welcome entertaining distraction. Thanks you guys. 💯👊🏾❤
55:40 When the comic book is so green, it's getting green screened.
I will always love you guys, it'a hard to find someone who talks comics with passion and fun
Im going to start telling people that Spider-Man is my gynaecologist and no one will have a clue what I'm talking about.
i've been asking for this episode for two years now, thank you guys, you always deliver
Binging Back Issues, Notification of new back issues episode. Love when that happens.
Totemic lobster God is probably one of the sentences of all time.

Dude they've been talking about this one for so long! For all of Sals love for JMS's run he doesnt cover alot of it
52:00 you just created the origin for a new lobster based villain.
It's sad how most of this run doesn't exist anymore
No it exists but instead of them being married they were just dating seriously. So some of the emotional impact and maturity is taken away
@@brandon1942 No what I meant was the foundation of the run doesn't exist anymore
These back issues are always amazing, especially during these trying times. You guys always make my day. Keep up the good work!
Thanks ComicPop I literally saved you to watch in my free time
Love the show
What a hilarious episode. I so needed this today. Thank you. Love you, ComicPOP!

You're doing a good job Sal, (Seriously love the show, This episode was great)
sal you're doing a great, no wait, you're doing an AWESOME job. actually everyone is doing a great job. keep it coming you guys.
39:44 a shyster you say..??? AND HERE I AM [said in that pathetic way mysterio would]
I love the idea of May being really into wrestling
This was the first trade I ever bought, and the 9/11 issue was my first comic ever as a result! I’m so glad you did this!
Thank god for comic pop during all of this quarantine.
You're doing a great job, Sal. It's kind of a joke because of what you said at the end, but I do think this is one of the best channels on youtube.

Oh yeah this is going to be a good one of my favourite spiderman moments
1:05:12 hahaha Futurama love it!
“You like wrestling Peter?” *slowly takes off jacket to reveal an Austin **3:16** shirt* “Give me an oh hell yeah!” *they hug and cry*
The issue debuting "The Shade" was the FIRST comic I ever read. Sweet to see it after all these years!
How do you know this is gonna be great?
44 minutes in and loving it. This has to be the most Ethan lpm (laughs per minute) in any episode. Ben in top form as always and Sal is reading Straczynski spider-man which is always the bee's knees in my book!

Don't worry Sal. You're doing a good job! Go get em' tiger!
I just called the number and freaked out that they committed to this bit LOL
Waking up to back issues is always great
You are doing a good job Sal.
The time has finally come, and so have I.

You're doing the best Job Sal.
Favorite Spider-Man issue👍
You're doing a good job Sal.
1:00:29 they clearly taking on the audacious undertaking that is the lobster cinematic universe
This and Paul Jenkins’s were the runs i grew up with, love the video, hope we get to see more of this era

Time stamp?
One of the most memorable parts of rereading JMS spider-man is getting jumpscared by the sudden 9/11 issue
Why did this take so long to make?!? This is by far the best Spiderman run ever!
There is also a story in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, called The Talk, where Peter and Aunt May talk about Peter being Spider-Man.
There sure is.
1:00:00 Sal. You’re doing a good job.
That bit at the end killed me.
you have made my week thank you
A fractal of spider legs... wouldnt that mean a fractal of spider feet... feet...
*Quentin Tarantino has entered the chat.*
You’re great guys! Love you!
Yes! A new Spider-Man back issues episode! (And right after I was binge watching episodes🙂)
OOOoooooo... Fresh off the press and ready to go for this great video.
