Props to you for not being afraid of choosing what fit for you instead of just going along with what you had previously planned or thinking of sunk costs.
Teeth Talk Girl No problem, glad it meant something to you! I’ve done a lot of the opposite, so I respect when people really follow what’s best for them and their life goals. Thanks, friend 🙏
You are adorable and amazing! Your dentist must love having you as a very special and extremely important part of the office. I notice in many of the comments in your other videos ppl think you are a dentist, when i was an RDH patients thought i was a dentist also. I think that is because of the obvious care and dedication Given to the patient and retaining and explaining all that we learned in our many years of study. Your enthusiasm is fabulous! I worked as a Dental Hygienist for 25 years. Now Retired for 10 years, most of my friends are hygienists. We are fun people, right! Love, Peace and Teeth to you! PS: I could never handle more than 8 patients a day.(don't get burnt out) Before hiring me, i told the dentist i would not work on a 45 min. Schedule so he changed it to 1 hr., children were still 30 min. (Which sometimes isn't enough) needless to say the hygienists were thrilled. I also made sure we were paid well as many dentists conveniently forget to give raises. I had many other jobs before becoming a Dental Hygienist And i was 40 when i graduated from college so i had lots of experience in different professions and not afraid to fight for our rights!
Really cool story! I know I’ll be happy wherever I am in the dental field. Definitely keeping dental school in mind. I’m glad you really found where you belong!
Thank you so much for sharing this. You have such a calm, enthusiastic, and optimistic demeanor, which is contagious. I am about to start a year long post bacc pre-medical program and after that am thinking of applying to either med school or dental hygiene school. I know... very different paths, but both interest me. Switching fields from being a hs math teacher.
Omg, you literally described my life. Its scary accurate, I wanted to be a dentist bc my dentist was soo cool. She was amazing and young and everything you said. I wanted to be a dentist but I accidentally came across a dental hygiene program and looking into it made me interested, but I was still set on dentistry. I then got into the drama club and I thought THE EXACT THING YOU THOUGHT. if I do hygiene I'll have time for acting. Its like were twins or smthh.

So cool listening to your story! I'm in musical theatre/performing in the UK currently but I'm in the process of applying for hygiene courses! Your videos are really helping me! x

My Journey is sort of the same! I’m into acting and the entertainment industry but recently I met a dental assistant when I went to get my tooth pulled who changed my life. She was just so awesome and sweet she educated me on the difference between being a DA and a DH immediately I applied for dental hygienist school. I start this year! I am extremely excited , your video just made me even more excited 😆
As dentists in India.....we have to perform scaling within our busy schedule....waiting to see well equipped dental hygienists come up... inspired from your channel. This could save a lot of time for dentists and help us focus more on the need for the hour (gum disease, decay and counselling). 👌 Wonderful work! 💪Keep Going! Peace, Love, Teeth! 😁
Great story here.I love to know the whys. I'm a former music teacher and I've been heavily considering getting into the dental hygienist field. Your videos are helping me tremendously.
Thanks for sharing your journey! You are so passionate and I love how you are finding a nice balance between work and your passion. This is exactly what I am trying to strive for. This really helps :)
But not only her journey and what she’s so passionate about. Obviously she’s out on her time in such a soothing location just really reflecting and so dang happy about what she’s done and where she is. She’s really enjoying what she has worked so hard for in her life. I love it!
Thank you making this video because I’m a Highschooler figuring out what I want to do for college and I love acting and being part of entertainment but I do need a degree in something to keep me humble and have a Plan B on the side if that doesn’t work. your story inspired me and I am thinking about looking into dental hygienist thx💕
I know how you feel! I became a dental therapist instead of dentist and I don't regret it because I enjoy doing the simpler side to dentistry...and it's more chill...not to say it's not worth it to do the full thing but I'm happy with what I got right now .
I remember my first found of clinicals where I was suppose to be shadowing the RDA but ALL I could do was follow the RDH around she was amazing... Just graduated DA school and now work in an orthodontal office so I can have that one on one with patients and it's just made me fall more in love with that same concept of an RDH so I'm working towards that now
That’s great to know because. I’m going back to school to pursue dental hygiene. I’m also currently a student in martial arts and I want to pursue that as well and do both.
My early experiences with dentists: they were very strict people who complaint a lot about my teeth condition and breath. They were also trainers from hell for my pain tolerance, especially for the drilling part. Tears always naturally flow, only can clench my fists tightly during the process. Can't do anything else, just endure through. They were total nightmare.
Thank you for sharing! I love that everything worked out for you to do both. I'm currently trying to decide what I'd like to do with dentistry. Seen many of your videos but would love to ask you some questions if possible. Thank you for your channel!
