One of the reasons why I want to be a dental hygienist is because of their lifestyle, it looks like a very calm and enjoyable job 😌...hopefully I can make it!
Yesss me too!! And and i'm someone who needs that routine lifestyle which some people dread but for me that creates a sense of comfort knowing what i need to do. which is what i am looking for in a career

It looks like an awesome profession! I just have to take my science courses: A&P 1 and 2, Microbiology, Chemistry, and I should be able to apply to the program. I got all my other classes out of the way and avoided those classes during the pandemic, but I know anything in life is possible.

I am currently studying to be a dental hygienist. To be very honest, you have been such an inspiration. The fact that you seem so joyful to do what you makes us feel safe about the decision of persuading this profession. Please keep sharing content with us, we appreciate the time and you educating us.
Also, one question: I am currently working on my dental assistant certification, simply to get into the dental field and experience it before I can actually graduate from dental hygiene school. Will it help?
Depends on the program but yeah it does help you out in general cause you are familiar to the field and have higher chances of getting in but it’s sometimes not needed
Yess!! Youll get a feel for offices to see if you like the general environment plus when you go into hygiene school youll know a lot more ! :)

I'm in prerequisites and I dont feel confident.
Chemistry is getting the better of me and im so close to dropping it and just going back to studying humanities. I feel like even if I pass chemistry that my GPA is not going to be high enough to get me into the program. I'm just overwhelmed and feel like an idiot.
I just started my fifth week of DH school and academically, chemistry was harder than all of the classes I am taking now. Don’t lose hope if you really want to be a DH. Hard work does pay off.
@@yoonak333 it is very discouraging. Im putting in about 4 hours a day and so far the only material im grasping is nomenclature. I know professors make a world of difference, however, almost all of my school's chemistry professors have bad reviews.
I just graduated from the program and not once did chemistry come up… don’t give up! Think of it as a way to help you develop good studying habits
@@meg6605 Thanks for the positivity, I have to pass with a C or higher and even then I know I'll more than likely not get into the program because others will have a higher grade. It feels very desolate.

Are dental hygienists exposed to a lot of radiation as the internet says? Have safety precautions strengthened in the past few years? I haven’t been able to find answers on this anywhere so I figured I would ask you, thanks in advance!
hi friend! we are protected and never concerned about being over-exposed. some dental professionals will wear a radiation badge to monitor their levels if they are concerned. hope this helps!

Do your hands ever get dry or crack from having to constantly wash your hands? If so, how do you manage to keep your hands from getting damaged?
Hygienist here! There are healthcare handcreams I love to use a couple times a day to help prevent cracking. Thankfully our office provides them to us so we don’t have to purchase out of pocket

I would like you to advise me I am months away from finishing my hygienist course and it turns out that during the entire course I have not done an internship and I do not know if it is correct to go to a clinic with my degree without knowing a lot or start the two-year course again 😭

yep! there are pediatric-specific dental offices that hygienists can work at :)

it depends on the day! usually between 8-10!
could be 12! could be 6! longer appointment times for new patients and shorter appointment times for kids :)

no, but my office has a sterilization assistant on some days -- so they will usually take the trays :)
