I just wanted to say that you're easily my favorite keyboard channel. Your switch comparisons, tutorials, reviews, and S C I E N C E are insanely helpful for a newbie like me. Also, your intros are really funny, please never stop doing them.
That is a great sounding spacebar for sure. I just keep coming back to my Topre boards after spending a little bit of time with whatever MX board I just built. Idk what it is, but something about Topre just keeps me coming back.
Was wondering if we were going to get a new Scott video this week and was quite excited when I saw the title! Just got my barebones this week, typing on it now!!! As I had some GMK WoB and WS Heavy tactiles that I love I just got the barebones. You get everything, case, stabs etc... with it you just don't get the caps or switches. They even sent the plate foam separate just in case you didn't want to use it. I love my Neo65, been my main since Oct. While I have a Neo80 on order, for over a month now, I got my Luminkey65 in like 3 days from China to AR US. The sound with all the foam and the components above is very poppy and thocky at the same time, definitely one of the best sounding boards I have and the look is very classic. I also like the placement of the FN key, it's silly but I've always used the right CTRL. PC plate as you note doesn't support screw in and I didn't know it came with them to I already had some Durock V2 lubed and ready when it got here so I'm just saving the ones they sent (which were already put together). However the PCB has a lot of options for those who need them. Fantastic video as always, I'm with you on the recommendations. While it doesn't have the flex of many of the Q series, the look and sound is definitely superior and not everyone wants a lot of bounce anyway! I have a feeling this is my new #1 for a while...
I got mine in red recently and am very happy. very compact with thin bezels. I do have the neo65 on the way as a preorder too. In fact I have all 3 luminkey. happy with all of the, except I didnt like the baby racoons on the 75 so I changed them out with Gateron BOX INK Black v2 and it is now devine.
@@TeejayJumilla I actually cancelled the neo65 preorder as i didnt want to wait. i am quite happy with the LMK65. I use it now with just case foam and the PC plate. and it has nice gasket feeling and decent clack. Without case foam it sounds ok but a bit thinner. There is nothing wrong with using foam especially when there sis nice thick non flex cut PCB and plate
Things I care about in a keyboard: Physical layout, hotswap, repairability, standard open-source firmware, per-key RGB to use as indicators, decent stabs, a hard reset / bootloader button, ideally also a knob or touchpad or joystick or other extra inputs. Bonus if it comes with DSA/XDA/AFSA/MT3 caps and top-bump style tactile switches like Durock T1, Boba U4, Akko Purple, or even Pandas. Things I don't care about: Sound, flex PCBs, gaskets, accessories, blue/brown/linear style switches. Things I try to avoid: Metal cases, weights, branding, screens, pouch batteries, manufacturers who don't cooperate with upstream firmware folks, OEM/Cherry caps, anything bigger than 75% or smaller than 65%.
Edit: It does support VIA! Doesn't look like it has QMK/VIA. I like my keyboards thocky but QMK/VIA is far too useful, especially on a 65-key. I'd get the Q2 over this for a prebuilt, and if I'd ever consider a barebones for this, I'd still get a barebones Q2 instead.
@@albertxion513 He does! I actually followed the link to look at the page and didn't see it but it's also there. I'll put the barebones on my list to try.
I have both, just finished my Luminkey65 (did barebones). The Neo offers more option in regards to looks, colors weights etc... however if you like options and weights the Luminkey is an easier build and sounds a little better to me. I've been switching back and forth since I got it and it's very close. I have WS Heavy Tactiles in both and GMK caps and the Luminkey is a little poppier... which is a little odd to me because it's got the PC plate and I have the FR4 in my Neo. Both sound great and are fantastic keyboard, can't go wrong with either so just go with looks and plate options / sound IMHO.
With all foams both will sound nearly identical. Take 'em out on both and the Luminkey65 will sound a lot better especially if you get rid of the stock PBT keycaps and go for ABS stuff.
i would love for friends to ask me to build keyboards fir them. i enjoy the process, but i dont want to spend money to build a new keyboard every month, only for it to rot im my cupboard. but unfortunately for me, my friends are not willing to pay $300+ on a keyboard..
Give me a solder or hotswap pcb with some more layout options for r5 and I'd cop, even if it was an additional purchase. I do think they should have some sort of customization option for the colour on the piece of metal that surrounds the light. I feel like it works with the silver but not the other colours.
65 key keyboards isn't my cup of tea, i prefer full size, and i need it to have nordic layout, so no luminkey for me - i've got a Keychron Q6, so don't really need another keyboard
That spacebar sound is super generic. I don't know if you're forcing yourself to say something positive about it, but this just isn't it lol. In its stock configuration with all foams it just sounds like any other foam-loaded keyboards. If you remove all of them though... That's when this keyboard actually shines and it's a real shame that you didn't even showcase a more customised build.
I actually just got my first and last keychron 3 days ago. The keyboard is wonderful, however it came in DOA due to the usbc not being plugged in. I’m new to the keyboard community and frankly didn’t consider that because I assumed the usbc would be soldered in (gaskets make that impossible, duh). I went through their entire help page steps and nothing worked. I spent 2 hours on the process. Anyway once I figured out the reason I was happy. Then I thought they should update their help page so future costumers who have an unplugged cable can save time. I went out of my way to be nice and let them know of my experience and how they can prevent their future costumers from having a similar experience. No apology or thank you given. No common courtesy is just 🤮. Never buying any keychron product again and I’m a massive nerd who also has other nerdy friends so they missed out on at least a grand of potential revenue.
I'm still recommending keychrons because everyone I know will struggle with ANSI builds in general, and Keychron is basically the only player in the industry who makes decent keyboard for european users.
Nice board but I think most people would rather avoid a 65%. In my experience, most people I know want a 75% at minimum and if you want something cheap but good quality, the rainy75 is huge bang for your buck, being $100 fully built and having way more colour options, depending on where you get it. By summer they're supposed to be in stock in vendors like Amazon too. This board seems more enthusiast leaning than casual.
That is a nice looking 65% keyboard but it’s definitely not worth $100 more than the all aluminum Yunzii AL 71 which can be picked up now on Amazon for only $72. btw, Im not affiliated with yunzii in any way other than i purchased an AL 71 and enjoy the board.
preassembled version dont have iso option but you can just buy the barebone version and change the plate. you do need to purchase the iso plate seperately though.
Was actually surprised by how nice the Luminkey 65 is, hope more people look into it!
Right? They Def made improvements even from The 75!
@@KeyboredSo that's 65 percent sorted. What would be your recommendation be for a 74 percent that works out of the box without modding? Thanks.

Are u going to review Boog75 or zoom75 he (when it's out)?

Haha glad you liked it!
This is the future.
Does the prebuilt version come with ISO keycaps? Do I need to buy extra keycaps/stabs/whatever if I want to use it in ISO layout?
I'm hearing a bit of a metallic ping there. Sounds like something needs a little adjustment.
