Curran Conradi I think you might be going a lil too far talking about he pushed them to go harder But still Cree to Kendrick for those direct indirect bars
william hutchinson I mean I'm not trying to give Kdot ALL the credit but at the time Kendrick was still relatively unknown and he called out all dudes that were at the top (at the time) Kendrick defiantly made an impression on those dudes.
It’s called Control because Kendrick Lamar is from the West coast/Compton. Big Sean is from the Mid West/Detroit. Jay Electronica is from the East Coast/New York. They’re representing their respective parts of the US.
What? Jay Elec is from NO. That’s why he said “the tale of a magnificent king who came from the nooks of the wild magnolia”, referring to the magnolia projects.
Seeing the two of you fully diving into hip hop culture and actually paying attention makes me so happy. Alot of people don't understand how this was a major outlet for African Americans to talk about what they grew up in and it was so negatively taken in the late 80's but has grown into this. Now people just judge the whole culture with radio songs which isn't even the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this culture. Ugh im so happy with you two. Sorry for ranting
That's so true. Growing up black, in a predominantly white environment, I never rlly let people know that I liked hip-hop because of the way I'd be perceived. It's cool people are beginning to look beneath the surface now and that people are starting to appreciate hip hop culture for the depth it has.
I accidentally had Kdot's "FEAR" in one of my playlists, and dad was in the car. Wyoming military dude, immediately went to change it but he stopped me. Let it play through, and I got him to listen to not only DAMN, but TPAB as well. He couldn't stomach maad city lmao, but I was really impressed.
Ab-Soul - The Book Of Soul "Ab-Soul narrates through the complications of his life; the love life he had with Alori Joh, how her death affected him, and how he does things his own way and won’t be stopped. This is not the moment people went holy shit about Kendrick, that had happened already. However this made hip hop pause for a few weeks, which was very amazing because k dot was calling people out for weak rhymes and it got a big reaction. Rare in this bubblegum era.
@@MrfuckinBeilke thats not the point, they dont gotta look at the annotations, but lyric videos usually have grossly incorrect lyrics, at least genius is accurate most of the time
I like to consider Kendrick's verse the equivalent of a speech given by a captain of a sports team. He [Kendrick] clearly felt hip hop, and the artists therein, where not pushing the genre enough and so he gave everyone a jolt of energy and inspiration with this verse. Also, a quick fact, this song was meant to appear on a Big Sean project but when he heard how much fire Kendrick brought, he gave the song to him. You've just got to love him.
This verse literally shook the rap industry. Kendrick’s verse was trending on twitter for 10 days. It also motivated everyone who got name dropped to work harder and made them drop their best projects. Kendrick is the GOAT
Not really people still put out of their work regardless. Not one rapper says that this affected their work. This only had impact because in this era of friendliness, kendrick called out alot of his peers and none of them had the guts to do it at that time.
8:17 for future reference a song like this is called a posse cut, where it's several rappers just trying to have the best verse among all the other rappers in the song
"What is competition, I'm tryna raise the bar high" is probably the best summary to pick one line for what Kendrick was doing. He wasn't at all talking down on the people he mentioned (although he did go on to have beef with Sean), the point was that he was trying to raise the bar. He's trying to raise the bar himself and bringing in the names of all these well known and respected rappers into it, he's forcing them to raise the bar for themselves and so in theory, hip hop as a whole in order to keep up with the competition. It's so dope.
YetiHype also by dropping all those names he set the bar high for HIMSELF. After you spit bars like that you can't put out any trash or throwaways, and Kendrick still has yet to disappoint.

Been waiting on this one for a while, looking forward to the reaction and im so looking forward to you doing some more Joey Badass. I also highly recommend Lupe Fiasco - Mural, its arguably lyrically one of the best rap songs ever. Also Jay Electronica - Exhibit C, one of the best rap verses of all time in my opinion. The reason Kendricks verse on on this was so iconic was because there has always been beef between west coast hiphop and east coast and Kendrick, from LA, said he was king of New york, ("I juggle em both"). Obviously was also huge because he came out and named all the biggest rappers at the time and said I got love for you all but I'm trying to murder you like try to come take this crown I ain't scared of nobody. Jay Electronica is from New Orleans, Louisiana (aka The Magnolia). He has long been acknowledged by many hip hop fans as one of the top lyricists even though he has never released an official album.
Eloy Urbina All rappers give corny bars, but since people specifically point out Big Sean for having corny bars, they’re watching for the corny bars. It’s like when someone points out a “flaw” about someone and now you can’t unsee it. Now every time you see that person, that’s all you see.
BroImLeandre I don’t think that’s the case yes all rappers have corny bars we can literally have a contest and show side by side him to say Kendrick and he will have many more bad lines
+Rock React jay electronica was one of the most anticipated hiphop artists of all time if not the most, his writing abilities had people like jay z ,nas and even T.I co signing him over the years but then he went on hiatus and never released his album, you should maybe listen to his song exhibit c, its legendary. also kendricks voice on this song is so grimy i'm glad simon didn't recognize it at first cause it's so different from his other voices, its the old freestyle section 80 kendrick type of voice :).
Makes me extremely happy you guys decided to react to the control verse. You guys are great. also big sean and kendrick have a little bit of a beef as well. Seeming as its big sean's song - control. Its only known as the control verse due to kendrick's fire verse. Also every radio or tv interview big sean has done they ask him how it felt to get bodied on your own track which ticked him off. So big sean came out with a couple tracks dissin kendrick with no name mention but we knew who it was for. The kendrick also dropped tracks "- King Kunta, -Heart Part 4, -Element." Recommend those
Syed Ayaan true same thing I said with earl's better music. Imagine if they tried Aesop, or even black thought they won't get any of the references by any barely esoteric artists. Guys like Andre, rakim, redman, nas, elzhi, ra rugged man will be more up their ally when it comes to lyricists.
Needless Moose we agree DOOM is incredible but will they enjoy or understand anything without a genius explanation, maybe not. That's not a dig DOOM isn't the type of artist to listenti once and get everything I just don't think they will find any reason to hook into his work, more likely they will default cop out to "I can tell what he does with words is incredible but its not for me." I am sure simon won't like any of the beats either.
Isaiah Mc Intosh I mean yeah it took me like 100 listens to catch every little thing in Accordion it would still be interesting to see what they think of Doom I think.
Maaaaan, I love that you guys are still learning the rap hierarchy, because it’s funny, after this came out almost no one dared say anything to Kendrick, except for drake and Kendrick ended that later. I first saw this verse because they were talking about how insane the verse is, and if he just ended everyone. Amazing. Kendrick is the Greatest of all time
Tomas Manriquez Yes! People are always requesting Kendrick songs (or songs featuring him), but they should switch it up with something more experimental.
Jay electronica is a weird story in hip hop considered one of the greats but never realesed music at one point he dissed Kendrick post this song but that was axed me Kendrick has a lot of hip hop power just being from Compton and the skill so a lot of ppl don’t want smoke
Shaqnokobe jay electronica and flipping RA need to drop more flipping music, they are some of rap's great technicians but they need to drop more projects.
Now that youve done one of your most requested can you please react to kendrick lamar and j cole - black friday. Not an iconic moment by any means but they both released songs called black friday where cole raps over one of kendricks most famous beats and kendrick raps over one of coles most famous beats. Kendrick easily has the better black friday imo but you should listen to them both in the same episode to be able to compare them directly
You guys need to hear DJ Khalid- Holy Key. Big Sean and Kendrick go bar for the bar it's insane they have an ongoing feud that just magnifies every track they're on together.
Your reactions to Kendrick’s verse was all of us when this dropped. One of those moments where you throw your phone down and walk away in disbelief at the genius.
"Draw a line around some Earth and put my name on the plot / 'Cause I endured alot of pain for everything that I got" To this day those bars give me chills.
Jay Electronica - Exhibit C He was one of the most praised newcomers in 07 and 08, the greatest hip hop artists ever called him the future of hip hop and everybody pushed him to release an album already and this song really shows why. Fantastic song
Wow thank you for doing this! Normally im really early but i just got out of surgery. So it was a big surprise to come home to something ive been waiting for for a long time. But its all good tho. I still want black friday asap though ;)
The thing is Kendrick didn't diss the people that he mentioned. He dissed the ones that he didnt.
woytec these are facts! I never thought of it like that lol
woytec for real tho Kendrick only pushed those dudes he mentioned even hard and that's part of why they are where they are at!

Fl4me5_ AZ Jay Electronica is really a LEGEND, still waiting for his album. Rockreacts HAVE TO REACT TO HIM
Makes me extremely happy you guys decided to react to the control verse. The kendrick also dropped tracks "- King Kunta, -Heart Part 4, -Element." Recommend those
KENDRICK LAMAR- ALRIGH/KING KUNTA/HOW MUCH A DOLLAR COST/THESE WALLS
Jeez I've been waiting for this.
React to MF DOOM (Accordion, All caps and Beef rap are some of my recommendations). I will comment this every vid until they do.
You do realize MF Doom is gonna fly over their heads?
Syed Ayaan true same thing I said with earl's better music. Imagine if they tried Aesop, or even black thought they won't get any of the references by any barely esoteric artists. Guys like Andre, rakim, redman, nas, elzhi, ra rugged man will be more up their ally when it comes to lyricists.
Nah man they'd appreciate DOOM's flow. His wordplay is unparalleled.
An underrated thing about this song is that Sean got Kendrick's verse back and still decided to release it even though he knew what people would say.
Please react to some Tyler the Creator, you will love Who Dat Boy
Maaaaan, I love that you guys are still learning the rap hierarchy, because it’s funny, after this came out almost no one dared say anything to Kendrick, except for drake and Kendrick ended that later. I first saw this verse because they were talking about how insane the verse is, and if he just ended everyone. Amazing. Kendrick is the Greatest of all time
You guys are the best!!! DO DEATH GRIPS!!!
Tomas Manriquez
Yes! People are always requesting Kendrick songs (or songs featuring him), but they should switch it up with something more experimental.
It would be ideal for them considering they like more aggressive rap it seems and do come from a metal background!
DEATH GRIPS WHEN
1:58 "flow special like a infants first death", shit just caught me off guard
I always thought Jay Electronica's Verse was underrated it might be my favorite of this song
Probably better than Kendrick’s 💯
Another song from Big Sean, which displays his abilities, is Paradise. Enjoying the content, guys!
Love that you guys mentioned lost in Vegas literally think of them as your American counterpart top 2 reaction channels
I've never clicked on a video faster.. I need to turn on notifications for this channel LOL
Do detroit vs everybody
prestontv THIS THIS THIS
Big Sean slaughters that and you know Em did his thing
Love this channel keep up the awesome work
You guys need to hear DJ Khalid- Holy Key. Big Sean and Kendrick go bar for the bar it's insane they have an ongoing feud that just magnifies every track they're on together.
Your reactions to Kendrick’s verse was all of us when this dropped. One of those moments where you throw your phone down and walk away in disbelief at the genius.
React to Jay Electronica "EXHIBIT C"
This reaction was a delight, knowing you guy's do like Kendrick but I never expected for this song to be chosen.
Jay Electricity, PBS mysteries, in a lofty place tangling with Satan over history 🔥🔥
Salva E J Electronica was best on this track imo
Kendrick Lamar - Rigamortus is one the all-time greatest displays of prowess by a rapper.
Nothings been the same since they dropped control
"Draw a line around some Earth and put my name on the plot / 'Cause I endured alot of pain for everything that I got"
To this day those bars give me chills.
The blacker the berry - Kendrick Lamar
Jay Electronica - Exhibit C
He was one of the most praised newcomers in 07 and 08, the greatest hip hop artists ever called him the future of hip hop and everybody pushed him to release an album already and this song really shows why. Fantastic song
PLEASE REACT to DJ Khaled, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean- "HOLY KEY". Bars all over that especially Kendrick.🤯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
4:54 I love that you guys watch lost in vegas, they are one of my favorite reaction channels
Please check out Holy Key with Kendrick and Big Sean!
Wow thank you for doing this! Normally im really early but i just got out of surgery. So it was a big surprise to come home to something ive been waiting for for a long time. But its all good tho. I still want black friday asap though ;)
