Bunjie (The O.B.) is a 2010 Excalibur Axiom Crossbow. After more than a decade of killing deer, hogs, squirrels, woodchucks, and even a bear, Bunjie is now semi-retired. Enter Bunjie III (or Bunjie '21, Bunjie 3.0, The Slick Black Cadillac of Crossbows) a 2021 Scorpyd Deathstalker 420, the result of trying various models and looking at dozens of them online for characteristics I liked. It is, in fact, a gift from a Friend of Bunjie, which goes to show how important Friends of Bunjie are to this channel and what an impact they can have. Bunjie III is a testament to modern crossbows, producing over .7 slugs of momentum and almost 140 ft-lbs of kinetic energy with stock arrows--at nearly 400 fps!
Bunjie, Jr., is my daughter Genevieve's crossbow, an Excalibur Micro Suppressor 355. This crossbow was also a much appreciated gift from a Friend of Bunjie, and it changed Death by Bunjie forever by inspiring Genevieve to become a part of our story as a second-generation crossbow hunter, and it also convinced me there is a benefit to a newer, faster crossbow (see our 2020 Maryland Doe Hunt).
Again, I am not sponsored by these companies. I am sponsored by Friends of Bunjie! (I'm not asking for gifts whatsoever--please don't feel like you should send me stuff! But I do appreciate the support I've received over the years! I'm just trying to express my appreciation for that.)
This channel is the result of combining my interest in filming and hunting...and music, too! My related channel, Yankee Militia, showcases my music. Some of the music is hunting-related, so check that out, too! The soundtrack for this channel is provided by my band, so the two are intertwined. The albums "Live Free or Kill" and "Zombies Gotta Eat, Too!" are available on Amazon.com and elsewhere. A third album is in the works.
    All Hail Bunjie!

You really put some thought into this episode. Every point you made are 100% valid. Especially the temperature and humidity. I can think of so many things that are affected by environmental conditions.
Another thing I have an issue with is shooting at targets versus live game. I sort of flinch when shooting targets. Though, I don’t at game. So, I pretend I’m actually shooting at game now and I don’t do that flinch when I pull the trigger.

Bought your book on Amazon, it's due for delivery tomorrow. I'm looking forward to reading it & adding to my 50+ years of deer hunting experience. I'm now 74 & am physically limited to crossbow hunting my own 8.25 acres of property which is actually pretty good. I'm always trying to improve the wildlife habitat by planting suitable trees (fruit & nut ) plus forage. It should be even better for the next generation as the Newer planted trees & plants mature. Hope you & Genevieve have a great upcoming deer season.

My biggest accuracy issue was grip pressure. I could make it shoot up to 4” different at 50 yards depending on how hard I gripped the crossbow and how hard I pulled the crossbow into my shoulder when I would shoot. After watching you and your shooting rest, I figured out that my left hand was causing my accuracy problem last year. Thank you for the help.

  • @wisconsinhunterwhitetail5040

Hey Rich thanks for sharing another great video! One thing I love to do for sighting in my crossbow, I pin a 5 spot target face on my back stop using a level across the Xs to make sure my targets are perfectly level, then when I shoot it is very easy for me to eliminate and chance of canting my bow as your eye can easily detect the slightest cant. Works well for me whe I really want to do some precise shooting for sighting in my bow. Thanks again for the video, very fun to watch as we close in on the season. Ron

One big problem in canting a crossbow is how high the scope is from the center of the arrow. The farther off center the scope is from the arrow, the more canting will effect point of impact.

@@savvysavage1857 if I can't use Parker nocks, I'm not interested LOL... but either way they've worked just fine for me. But if you don't feel comfortable with them, absolutely don't use them. To adjust the timing, I just put more string twist in the cables and strings until I got exactly the right measurements, not just axle to axle but also putting the timing holes back to where they were from the factory, and making sure the timing holes on each cam were the same. Hope that helps!
