I love the fact that even though Tom's voice is incredible and he's keeping up strongly with Little Richard, not once does he try to show off or steal the show. They're both thoroughly enjoying themselves and both sound incredible, absoloute legends, hats off to them :)

Tom's duets on his show really highlight his versatility. He could sing almost any genre and keep up with the greatest in those genres.
I have such a new-found respect for Tom. That guy can SING and now is one of my all-time favourites.

I'm 62 and been listening to Tom Jones since I was a kid. He more than holds his own with all of the legends he paired with on his TV show. I consider him the greatest male popular singer. Deep down soulful but when he belts out a ballad, his power is operatic. Just amazing.

This is a different level. Actually think it's the best thing I have ever seen.
I used to watch the Tom Jones show every week, he always had the best acts and would always showcase their talents before his, even though he could easily hold his own with any talent out there.
Yes, my mother and I always watched the Tom Jones show too. He had the best of the best on there, & his duets were so entertaining. Mama loved Little Richard too. Every time he was on television her eyes were glued to the set.

Did you watch Tom's show with Jerry Lee? It's fully as good as the Little Richard one - in fact I actually prefer it. It's on YT as well.
His high quality series of shows were the 2nd most expensive in the history of tv at 600 million dollars in today's money. Dean Martin's were THE most expensive at 850 million dollars in today's money.
It's easy to forget just how good Tom Jones' voice was. Impressive.

Tom Jones got a bad rap early on. Many of us who like rock didn't like his image at 1st. He did grow on us as time went on and he got his accolades. At 1st, for me, he came on as to clean cut looking for the music he was singing when he sang rock songs. His look fit the ballads he sang perfectly I thought. And Elvis was the man and I thought overshadowed Tom Jones's talent.

@@bertpainter8385 Elvis was the original which is always going to overshadow look alike talents even if that talent is fantastic in their own right. Jones was also a singer only and not a song writer which severely hampered any artist from that era during transitional periods because they couldn’t adapt to societal shifts in musical tastes (unless they got lucky with song writers)

Music has always been a major love in my life. My very first musical memory was seeing Little Richard on TV, and thinking, " I dont know what this is, BUT I LIKE IT! I raised all my children on good music and I played all different kinds of music for my middle son when he was a baby, and his favorite CD was Little Richard. Go figure.

He is so awesome! I saw Little Richard for the first time in the late 60's and I wondered to myself, "where the Hell has this guy been all of my life".
This is 10 years after his prime and he was better than ever.
He will live forever in our hearts and music!
Little Richards voice sounds just like it does on the record
The recording equipment stretched to its limits here, adding even more overdrive tones to this turbo powerhouse performance. I sometimes wonder if they tailor their singing style to the nuances of the equipment, to accentuate the power in the way an electric guitarist might. To sustain singing this way for a whole set takes serious vocal strength!
This was the height of Tom's American fame when he hosted his own show. This era of Tom was at possibly his most powerful raw projected singing (while soulful) and he regularly blew his guests away with his ability, volume and somewhat intimidating presence! Not so here however, and the respect is clear and evident in his attitude and in the influence on Tom's singing. Huge TJ fan and what a voice Little Richard
As a side note the band Tom used for this show is magnificent and I particularly like the lead guitarists distinguished licks!

Elvis's career started in 1954. It's doubtful that he would have known anything about Little Richard before he hit the big time with Tutti Frutti a year later. However, that's a minor point. You're right that LR did have a huge influence overall, whether or not Elvis was influenced by him.
