i guess it is the power of EMP damage. really the advantage is that on ships that aren't protected it makes for very good oneshots. piercing particle cannons tend to "look" like they aren't doing damage (even if they are doing a crapton) while missiles and crams ooze giant explosions. however i am a bic PAC user due to their customisation option, relative low cost and no ammo usage, very usefull for the campaign

I've been waiting years for Lathrix to start playing around with particle cannons.
The real question is did he change the nose piece or add an inertial fuse on the railgun shells? My brain is guessing no, but my heart really likes to see giant shells ricochet into orbit with the possibility of ruining someone's day in the far future.

A fun thing that I am doing is re watching old play throughs
I love imagining how those particle cannons look from the enemy's perspective. You see a ship over the horizon, thousands of meters away, so far that it just looks like a small bump on the surface of the ocean. Then there's a flash of red and your boat is disabled.
Lathland, about the railgun HE shells, the best thing is to put HESH head and set ALL the special factors to 0.00, this mean that you wont need to tweak your gun any more (if you add inertial fuse your reload time will change, resulting in some minor tweaks), this way you will have somewhat less HE power but one REALLY nasty HESH spalling damage and you will only bounce on shields, which isnt a big problem since shields are now much weaker and you will only occasionally bounce on them and also APS HE shells have smaller explosion radius anyway so exploding on shields isnt super useful anyway

@@nikolozgilles No, and heres why: HESH isnt what it used to be. Before APS update HESH could destroy pretty much anything in a matter of seconds, it was a block melter. These days HESH functions more as an internal blocks sniper, it is much less damaging but it has a more concentrated stream, it generally works a lot more like HEAT, with the main difference being (of course) in how it treats air gaps. This means that a small amount of HESH will do the job of destroying some internal components just fine but wont touch armor blocks, but it also means that the large amount of HESH will destroy internal components and just barely damage armor blocks, meaning that it isnt much better than the small amount of HESH. This is why its better to use HE with 0.00 since it means that you will have amazing explosion power and a good internal sniping capabilities whild 1.00 means that you wont have pretty much an explosion power and just slightly better internal sniping. Hope this makes sense!

Ok no I was wrong: KMS wasn't used for the Prussian fleet, it was used for Ships from the Kriegsmarine, but only from the Americans.

In my experience, Particle Cannons are about as OP as you can get, so naturally I either restrict myself to putting them on every single ship, or, more likely, I restrict them for base-defense only, the fact that it gives me a giant tower to build my fortresses around that inevitably end up evolving into Sea-based Barad-dur also helps.
Because who doesn't want a giant Eye of Sauron as your primary defense mechanism?

I refitted my flagship "The Imperator" with 2 large turrets with 14 scatter lenses all set to piercing.
They can shoot straight through a bulwark.
Lathrix, your first statement about particle cannon secondary lens damage was the correct one. It's the same overall damage, just split into two half-strength beams, which can give you a better chance of dealing some damage rather than missing completely. Also if you want to use a particle cannon to surgically disable specific components like weapons, you can put them in Piercing mode instead of EMP. It won't be as effective at long range as EMP is though, unless you can dramatically increase the accuracy (likely at the cost of damage, or a much longer tube).
Is it possible to have a second craft? like a smal drone on a landingpad that is highspeed and collects the destroyed enemies remains? Someting like the Kornflake.
Didnt he do that in the original adventure series?
I was wondering this myself, thinking it might be a good idea to have some kind of small aircraft he could launch to go hunt down subs and drop depth charges or whatever.

And set as a sub-vehicle to the main ship, so that you're technically still using only one vessel.

@@omermete4181 all of those things can be countered fairly easily, all you need is a really strong anti-munitions system, the nukes can be countered with flak even rail guns (which are terrifying!) can be stopped by a high grade shield. particle cannons can't be countered directly, the only thing you can do is layer armor, protect again emp and seperate your ai into several separate AIs to keep the pierce function from ruining your day, and that is not even close to 100 percent effective, more like 50 percent.

Is it possible that you can make a secondary craft that hole existence is just to quickly run out and grab the resources then come back to the main ship and wait for the main ship to kill another one so it can run out and grab it maybe a bomber type plane but has no bombs to drop but loads of cargo space and it really fast or is that not possible?
I’m fairly sure you can with the map I know you can in campaign but not sure in adventure

I do enjoy how the craft has made the change from spinning-blades-of-doom to sniping-enemies-on-the-horizon in an abrupt yet still somehow organic way. Keep it up!
I just finished writing an essay online for school and I spent all day planning and writing so of course once I finished I went onto youtube. Thank you SO much for having this video up because I am 100 times happier already.
I really enjoy the idea of you making a lot of different weapon types on this ship. It kinda fits the theme, fighting every faction at once, so you're prepared for anything. So maybe a traditional pure/mostly kinetic railgun would be fun, or a non-standard cram cannon. So like a smaller, AP one, or a bigger emp one. Basically not HE spam. But honestly do whatever you fancy, I'm sure it'll be super whacky and interesting like everything else so far. Thanks for making these Lathrix!
I’ve figured out how the series ends, Lath fires the particle cannons forward thus hitting the turret cap of the one in front of it sending a surge into the rtgs and then the ship dies

I just had the perfect idea for a capturing system. Use the missile or simple weapon winches to drag a craft up close, use rams or rubber to avoid damage to your craft, and a melee PAC set to EMP looped around your nose. Couple control blocks later and you can latch on, the quite literally taser your enemies to ai death. Or you could set the PAC to pierce and well... if you don’t believe my word about the insanity of pierce melee PACs, a little channel called “BaconsTV” made a melee PAC sub with it set to pierce and looping above the craft. He gutted a bulwark in a matter of seconds. And personally, I’m curious as to what would happen if you spin the melee PAC... never got to try, I’m horrible at building PACs and lasers in FtD.

Humble Suggestion: Build a speedy scout plane/transport to pick up resources and observe worthy foes from a distance! (Maybe equip it with depth charges for those nasty subs?)
I built a massive particle cannon and found Explosive Shock to be the most satisfying.
Emp is good at taking out AI, but at the same time you are still going to get blocked by EMP protection.
The piercing was underwhelming. I think it would be great in the AI hands if you have it target AI. It might even be more effective at AI sniping that EMP on heavier targets.
I would fire a shot into a ship with explosive and the inside would just evaporate.
I would spawn things in in sandbox and just fire at them once, then explore how many different heavy armour compartments i breached.
A very fun weapon.
Up there with my 40 length large missiles.
The missiles are really funny if you dont put a fuse on them. They just sort of bounce off or sit on the target for a while.
Then they get where they want to go (which is a few millimetres forward) and then the ship is just a shell.
Your craft reminds me of Shin Godzilla, constantly evolving and (possibly) in constant pain

I friggen LOVE particle cannons! Built myself a 39 meter diameter flying eyeball, specifically to fill it with particle cannon.

If you didn't do this soon, I was going to suggest EMP particle cannons myself. Also, fun idea, what if you set each of the turrets to do a different type of damage? Like one on EMP, one on Pierce, and one on Impact, or something like that. So no matter what, firing a salvo will be at least somewhat effective. Probably stupid, but potentially very fun.

Well, those look fun, though I'm beginning to think adventure mode's spawning algorithm might need a rework, or some sort of visible indicator to help you manage enemy spawns.
Also, Lathrix definitely needs to make some sort of fast transport/scouting ship that he can send ahead before breaking a ships brain, that way he can warp to it and then quickly jump onto the enemy ship for a capture. Maybe a small flyer with lots of boosters and some defenses, but little offensive capability.
He can't teleport to craft in adventure mode like you can in campaign mode if that is what you mean by warp, though building a warp drive for this ship might be interesting to see.

I have an idea for a future regular campaign! The basic philosophy is this: you are only allowed to create one combat vehicle, one that you are free to upgrade to your hearts desire; the rest of your fleet you have to capture and retrofit. Would be incredibly interesting to see how you would morph the in-game vessel to fit your style.

Spawning of enemies is determined by a timer (5mins I think?) and distance traveled, vertical movement contributes. The timer ticks faster if you sit still, wait it out and then circle.
Particle cannons can be very efficient if you build them big (or build many) then "underclock" them. The damage scales linearly the power used scales exponentialy.

I'd love to see someone make a huge craft that is essentially built around one absolutely GIGANTIC particle cannon with a veritable maze of piping, so that the entire ship is the weapon and just see it absolutely delete enemy godlies.

You should add a second ship that colects the resources of dead enemies and can capture ships
You should make a little helicopter that docks on the back which you can use to either go capture ships, or collect resources from the corpses.
Imagine a rail gun that shoots larger projectiles at a slightly slower speed but they instead exploded into a lot of smalller bombs that pepper the entire craft. You could call it Friendly blankets of death

XD Lo and behold, you've discovered this episode why partical cannons are OP and why I love them so. ONE partical cannon like that -can- get you through the entire Glao campaign. Because EMP on Glao is super OP- everythng seems to be made of metal. One shot a mothership, easy. :J Guess my favorite secret weapon is out of the bag, now. XD

If I read it correctly, the more energy is in one particle cannon stream, the more accurate it is. So for long range particle cannons it would be best to have only one really powerful stream

You should build what is effectively a small, quick scouting vessel that grabs minerals from killed ships, and brings them back to the main ship.

half of the fun is min-maxing the stats in the cannon's advanced settings.
and yeah, you can make an absolutely monstrous particle cannon by simply adding more tubes.
some builds simply use a cannon lens that's built into the hull, while a massive amount of volume is used for the tubing.
