The very first thing I noticed is your voice speed. So easy to understand! I struggle with tutorials where a person talks and clicks like they're in a hurry. It's hard to follow what they're doing. I thank you so much for that and the awesome tutorial in itself.
Thanks so much for demonstrating how to make larger than mat stencils! I’ve been working on a wood round and have had to redo the stencil several times. Finally got it right after watching this video a couple of times. I was slicing and keeping the original words instead of the square. No wonder I had so much difficulty getting the squares to match. This makes so much sense. Grateful there are people like you willing to share.
This was amazing! Just what I needed to learn how to do an oversized sign. You have the perfect rhythm and timing as far as explaining things but not being patronizing or talking like I'm a kindergartener. I appreciate your time and expertise in this field and will def be looking for other videos by you to learn more. Thank you!!!!
Is there anyone that has tutorials as clear and helpful as this site to teach how all this is done in silhouette? You do such an AWSOME job. Might just have to try and find a circuit if not. Love your tutorials.
what a great and beginner friendly tutorial! I had been watching youtube but there is something that is not clear to me. I watched this and got it right away. Thank you so much!!
YOU ARE A ROCK STAR- I am a newbie, I found you and now I feel like a pro!! Thank you for taking your time and really explaining and showing exactly what you are doing.
Oh my goodness. I've been working on a window with a stencil. Your explanation of how to cut out the vinyl is the BEST! Thank you so much, I'm so glad I found this.
Thank you. I am a newb and I added 2 more squares to the project. But with your instructions, I was able to do it with no problem. Just wanted to say thank you and I subscribed. You are awesome. I will definitely be watching more and learning. :)
Thank u so much for this tutorial. I'm fairly new at cricut and I spent 2 hours last night trying to learn how to slice a project and you explained it so well. You have beautiful talent and the way you explained it slowly was a huge help. Gbu I will signing up to ur website. Have a bless day.
BEST Cricut large sign/slice tutorial I've ever watched! You explained everything so well - great camera shots so we could see what you were doing - and your tips on how to line it up all were fantastic! Thank you! And you got a new subscriber because of it!!! :-)
Hi Chris , I have been so blessed in finding your videos your videos have answered the many questions I have had for months . My grandchildren have patiently waited for to learn how to make extra big svg and because of you I now can . I'm hoping you can help me with a little issue I have and that's making a htv big enough for a queen size quilt for grandkiddies . Could you please please do a video showing how to do this please
⁵ This is so timely for me. I was just grumbling to myse.f about the fact that cricut does not navea snap to grid function and here is your video with a solution. Thank you so much for taking time to show tnis 💚
Great tutorial, thanks!!! I've been totally intimidated about doing a larger than mat stencil, but you've given me some, (probably false confidence), that I'm gonna give it a shot!
Thank you for such a great video. It was very clear and you didn't talk really fast for us newbies to follow along, like a lot of other videos. I made my first larger than mat stencil because of this video and now I am hooked! Thank you so much.
Wowza - this video totally saved my sanity;-) Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for your big heart in teaching newbies like me how to do this!! It's my very first sign and I went BIG - 30in. round for my sister's ranch!!!! wish me luck;-)
Hi I really enjoyed your video. I am wanting to make stencil however I am wanting to use this on a caravan. So I am needing to make a more conventional stencil. Do you have any thoughts on how i could achieve this and join pieces together? I would appreciate your help.
Could you have grouped all of the three sets of words across the bottom into one 11.5 x 11.5 block to conserve even more on the transfer tape and stencil?
Hi. I followed step by step your video but when I go to make it, it shows one mat as a 12x24 and two as 12x12. How can I separate the two that are on the 12x24 mat? Thanks for your help and the great video.
Thank you for the excellent tutorial. Two questions. Wouldn't it be possible to rotate your design 90 degrees, and use a 12 x 24 mat to make longer individual stencils? Also, couldn't that piece of your design that made up part #7 been parked on one of the stencil squares with lots of open area at the bottom? In essense, you would get that piece cut from one of your original squares. Again, thank you very much for the tutorial!
I love this video. It's my go-to whenever I want to make a larger-than-mat project. But I have to say, every time Chris feeds in the position of X and Y, it is an automatic flashback to math class in junior high when we all complained that we would NEVER need to plot x and y coordinates after we graduate 😆
Great instructions. Thank you. I do have one question. I have four separAte squares. When I click on make it, it’s coming up as 2 12x24 mats which I don’t have. The only other option given is12x19. How do I change this to 12x12?
Thanks for showing the tiling technique. one note: if you overlapped your squares even a tiny bit when slicing you wouldn't have a line between them that paint can leak through. also you could have cut the bottom squares as 11.5 x 4 instead of wasting all the bottom template paper
Your video is really great, but my cricut air 2 will not cooperate. It will not take the size, tells me the image is too big, the tool bar bottom right will not light up to weld. I'm going to watch the video again in case i missed something. Its making me crazy LOL.
So great with your step by step explanation. I am trying it for the first time but with 12 X 24 mat and so I set it for 11.5 X 23.5 but when I hit slice it doesn't slice everything. Have you ever had this happen?
So frustrated to print the larger size the measurements of my laptop is by CM so everyone I try to print it's too small so only to find out 11.5inch have to convert into CM ..also the SLICE is not comin out everything I try to print and slice them..help! Thank you for your help
Wow, these are great instructions! I never would've figured this out by myself, so thank you! One little thing I noticed, though, is that when you weeded the design, you didn't leave the center of the "f" where it loops over itself. I've done that before, too, and had to go searching in my trash for the tiny piece! LOL
Hi, I just have to say I have my maker nearly a year and was about to give up as feel very overwhelmed with other tutorials, and then i came across YOU, thank you , you are excellent at explaining and easy to listen too. Just one question, i have been challanged to make a over door out side stencil for a friend but i am struggling with what size my fonts should be, the board size she wants is 60'wide by 16' high, and needs to be seen by her customers . Could you please advise , thank you so much
For SLICE they would need to be ungrouped first to do individual letters (And SLice you can only do 2 layers at a time, so if it's a full word or saying you'd need to weld it first).
Wow, so happy I found your channel....New SUB! I am a fairly new Cricut user, and only use design space on an iPad Pro SOOOO, I hope I can do this project! Also joined your tribe ;-)
Seems a bit wasteful to have that extra tail given its own cut out sheet when you could have rearranged your mats to cut the mat that had the least amount of vinyl being cut from it and put the tail piece on that mat by having that one be cut last and leaving the vinyl on the mat and rerunning that mat back through the machine AND/OR had the tail attached to one of the most empty squares in your design and piecing it together later on by had cutting it yourself to place it where it needed to go since you were doing that anyways in the end.

Or worse when they just click along forgetting they are trying to teach you what to do without explaining it!

'Ive been using a similar technique with my 12 x 24 mats and Cricut. I have fewer pieces that way. And thank you for clarifying the slice technique.
You are so welcome!

Best stencil tutorial 👍🏼
Great video. You explained this better than anyone else I have seen.
Thank you so much you explained it so well I can’t wait to use this technique on my upcoming projects

One of the best tutorials I've come across for this. Thank you so much for thoroughly explaining this. Have you ever tried this with posterboard?
Great video. Didn’t know if you knew that if you put the dial on the Cricut Air to custom, there is a stencil vinyl setting there.
Thanks for sharing the tip!
Excellent tutorial
I always learn great tips from you. Thank you!
What an awesome post n tutorial...thx, now I have something to make this afternoon...lol
Thank you...I finally understand!!! I'm subscribed!

Awesome! Does this work on a wood round?
Genius!! How smart and clever! Thank you!
This is an excellent tutorial! Great explanation!
Thank you so much really loved your video 😊😊😊
Can this work with making htv into a silkscreen stencil? A half and half of a design on two stencils lined together on the surface ?
Great instructions. Thank you. I do have one question. I have four separAte squares. When I click on make it, it’s coming up as 2 12x24 mats which I don’t have. The only other option given is12x19. How do I change this to 12x12?
I figured it out. I had to change all squares to 11.49
Thanks for showing the tiling technique. one note: if you overlapped your squares even a tiny bit when slicing you wouldn't have a line between them that paint can leak through. also you could have cut the bottom squares as 11.5 x 4 instead of wasting all the bottom template paper
probably a good idea to not line up text with 0:0. so you aren't so close to the edge
Great tip!

If I have a larger mat is there a way to have it print on one sheet instead of slicing?
I wonder if you would sell something similarly sized ( Extra Large ).. how would you price it?
THANK YOU so much! This is exactly what I needed!!!
You are so welcome!
SHOULD i buy a Cricut air? Mostly doing stencils. I have Chromebook, smartphone,
And fire tablet
Awesome instructions! Thank you I am new to this and picked a big project for my first one this is just what I was looking for!
Omg THANK YOU!!!!

What kind of font is this? I am looking for something I can use for some names I will make in glass.
If it's going outside what do you seal it with?
Well done! TFS! 😘🇨🇦

Yes I realized that after it was too late, I decided to just roll with it lol
Is there a reason you didn’t use the 12x48 sized mat? Just curious if it’s easier to do it with the 12x12 or what? Thanks!!
12x24**

Hi! Can I use the circuit to cutout a 16x 20 4 inch thick mat?
The widest a cricut will cut is 11.5 inches
@@DailyDoseofDIY thank you.
Love this where do you purchase Sea paint
Thanks! You can find them at seapaints.com/
I can't weld or slice function with some fonts. Do you know how I fix that?
For SLICE they would need to be ungrouped first to do individual letters (And SLice you can only do 2 layers at a time, so if it's a full word or saying you'd need to weld it first).
Can u let me know what kind of vynil u use. I ordered through Amazon but was not impressed with the one I bought. Thanks
You can order it from US Cutter. It’s called 813 stencil vinyl.
Wow, so happy I found your channel....New SUB! I am a fairly new Cricut user, and only use design space on an iPad Pro SOOOO, I hope I can do this project! Also joined your tribe ;-)
Awesome! Thank you!
very nice
what type of paint do you recommend using?
I love using SeaPaints. It dries super fast, blends really well, can be used as a stain, I love it!
I would love to join
This is great. I'm a newbie so have a question. I have the long mats 12x24. Can I use those instead?
Yes you can. Just make your section 11.5" by 23.5"
@@DailyDoseofDIY thanks so much!
The very first thing I noticed was proverbs 16 24
What vinyl would you use instead of the stencil material?
Removable vinyl. Just don't use permanent, it's so sticky it will rip off your base paint. (tho that does leave a pretty cool distressed look!)
If there was a Proverbs 32 I guarantee it would be about you! Thank you for this tutorial, this is going to help me so much.
