Same, I love Michelle Gomez as Missy, especially as, while there are conflicting bits of information here or there, her dialogue throughout Capeldi's time as The Doctor suggests Missy is a future version of The Master from after Jodie's Doctor learns the truth about The Timeless Child, as many of Missy's throwaway lines line up with a lot of things that happened to Jodie's Doctor in seasons 11-12. The most obvious but easy to miss is her throwaway line about when The Doctor "was a little girl" when she's testing Clara to see if she can figure out if Missy is lying by telling her 3 different things, with one of them being a lie. But, knowing about Jodie's Doctor and the truth of The Timeless Child AND knowing Missy, how do we know the lie was actually that any of the 3 things she said were a lie a all? Seriously, seasons 11 and 12 actually made me love Missy as a character even more than I did during her time on the show itself
I think Simms and Gomez are both definitely better than Sacha. Out of the mess that has been the Chibs era everyone always points to Sacha as a highlight in that era. Am I the only one that thinks Sacha is just way too over the top with trying to be a Joker rip off. Also his version of the Master has none of the character development from the past 10 seasons. Now thats not Sacha's fault it's Chibs but it still makes him version of the Master worse. Maybe Sacha could be a good Master if he wasn't under Chibs poor writing but he just comes off as someone who is trying to be over the top insane and trying to be another Simm but executing it poorly.

He only lied to the Doctor for mind games. Which also explains why the Master was able to burn Gallifrey to the ground and produce the Cybermasters. Notice how they're not called CyberLords or CyberTimeLord but named after himself?

How difficult would it have been to enter Derek Jacobi's name onto a search engine, find one of the many interviews, or talks, with the actor and get his name pronounced correctly? - AND Anthony Ainley's!!
I think it's a damn shame he got soiled with the Cursed Child nonsense, because Sacha Dhawan's Master is an absolutely masterful version of the character. He's honestly my favourite, he's beautiful. If he'd had a better plot I think he'd be beloved
Personally, I'd have to say my top 5 are 1) Sacha Dhawan 2) Michelle Gomez 3) John Simm 4) Derek Jacobi 5) Eric Roberts For some reason, I have a special place in my heart for Sacha, such a great Master.
Roger Delgado, the ORIGINAL, you might say, is still my favorite, with John Simm my favorite from the new era. I think Delgado really, er... mastered the charm and the menace. And he worked so very well with Jon Pertwee and the regular cast. You could really take from his interpretation that he and the Doctor really were friends once on Gallifrey. Delgado's untimely passing was one of the reasons why Pertwee chose to leave the role - the two were very close friends in real life. It took me a very long time to accept Anthony Ainley in the role: he was a little crazy at times, but he usually managed to maintain control. Admittedly, the series began a tendency of plugging his Master into stories that really didn't need him. The King's Demons, for one - the villain could have been anybody, really. Looking back, it might have made an interesting opportunity to reintroduce the Monk from the First Doctor's era - it would have worked perfectly since interfering in historical events was more his thing than it ever was the Master's. Eventually, Ainley did grow on me, but for a long time it was a case of "well, we can't have the original, so he's the next best thing." Unfortunately, that's clearly how he was told to play the role, and I don't think he ever got the opportunity to stamp his own mark on the character. The master of disguise aspect was interesting, but so overused -- even when there really was no reason FOR the disguise. As for the infamous Movie, I kinda liked Eric Roberts as the Master, but he went a little crazy near the end -- and very silly. Not a favorite, but he was interesting. I haven't heard the Big Finish audios with him, but he's a good actor and might bring something new to the table. I have always liked Derek Jacobi as an actor ever since I Claudius -- I watched Vicious! primarily because of him -- and it would be interesting if they found an excuse to bring him as the Master back one last time. Again, I haven't heard the Big Finish audios, but he's good. And then John Simm. I first saw him on Life on Mars, and his take on the Master was a revelation. He was fantastic in the role, although, yet again, he went more into crazy mode than I was comfortable with, but he was capable of the quiet moments too. He hasn't topped Delgado for me, but he's close. Unfortunately, the one Master I really couldn't take was Michelle Gomez' Missy. I felt there was absolutely nothing of the Master in her. IMO, Missy has little charm, she's not very menacing, and, frankly, there was nothing about her I recognized. She could have been the Rani, and it wouldn't have made a difference to the character. I just felt Missy never worked either as a frenemy or as a villain. As for Sascha Dhawan, I like his take on the role - the return of Ainley's master of disguise approach works for him - but I kinda fell out of watching the series since I never liked Capaldi and didn't really warm to Whittaker. I am curious where Dhawan will take the character, but right now, he's third on my list after Delgado and Simm. I look forward to seeing more of him.

I love Dhawan, Simm and Gomez the most personally, I really hope we get to see Dhawan play the master with a better writer in the future as well because in my opinion the Chibnall era is pretty weak compared to other eras of nuwho such as Davies and Moffat
My personal no 1 is Mechele Gomez but I get why she's not everyone's favioute. I tend to love fun psychopaths (normally women) and she is the most fun out of all the versions of the Master. She's not angry, she's playful. She laughs like she can't help herself, and it's a genuine laugh, not an attempt at intimidation. Also her redemption ark in season 10 was amazing. I get why people dont like these things, but I Love them
I respect the opinion but the doctor and master from Chibs era really get overshadowed with bad writing and bad story decisions. I think more praise would be thrown their way if Moffat was still the showrunner. I think RTD could of definitely made these versions of those characters really well as well. I feel bad for the actors cause they did not asked to be in the timeless crapper story and they are probably going to be remembered for when they split the fanbase in half. I hope in the future they decide to do Big Finish and get some sort of redemption like Colin Baker did.
@@CometStar100 has everyone just forgotten how hated Moffat was when he was showrunner? I can guarantee that if he was still showrunner there would still be plenty of hate, and I can guarantee once Chibnall leaves and someone else takes over the new person will get a lot of hate and some people will be like "I miss Chibnall" that's just how it goes it seems. Personally I liked Moffat (though he had his flaws) and I like Chibnall, I think the Timeless Child is the most interesting development Doctor Who has had in YEARS.

9. Peter Pratt (the main problem is this bad mask. He had to scream into the mask and still sound muffled, the eyes and mouth did not move)
My top 3 are
1.sascha Dhawan
2.missy
3.john simms
Honorable mention: Derek Jacobi
I love Dhawan, Simm and Gomez the most personally, I really hope we get to see Dhawan play the master with a better writer in the future as well because in my opinion the Chibnall era is pretty weak compared to other eras of nuwho such as Davies and Moffat
Evil Mary poppins vibe I couldn’t have put it better myself
Michelle Gomez’s mistress is and always will be my master she is the best
Michelle should be #1
No she should not.
Jacobi is definitely my faverourite.
I get why people dont like these things, but I Love them
This list is 100% accurate
Eric Roberts technically never play the Master. He is Geoffrey Beevers Master in a stolen body
Simm was my childhood master, Simms, Tennant, Smith and Eccleston made my childhood
I wish you would pronounce the actors names correctly Jacobi as in Jacabi and Ainley in Aneley
Eric Roberts and John Simm are my favourite doctors
1. Gomez
2. Delgado
3. Simm
4. Ainley
5. Jacobi
6. Dhawan
7. Roberts
8. Pratt and Beevers are equal since I count them as the same incarnation
If time had been available, Derek and John (Hurt) squaring off on screen.
That would have been amazing. I wish John Hurt was still alive.
John simm is the best master for me but it s just an opinion no a fact
Swap Peter Pratt and Geoffrey Beevers spots on this list and I'd say that I would agree with this list 100%
Ditto. Pratt can never beat anyone with an English accent. Even i could do it better than him.
My favorite masters are John sims & Michelle Gomez.
Well Sir Derek Jacobi did appear in the 40th anniversary “Scream of the Shalka” as the Master
But that isn't canon though...
Missy is the best
Probably controversial, but sasha is my favourite master
I get that. He is a good actor. So is Jodi Whiteker. They were unlucky to be in Doctor Who during a time of bad writing.
@@kendrathompson5207 Although I really dislike season 11, I think Season 12 was actually pretty good. (But lets not mention Orphan 55)
@@CometStar100 yeah moffat is my fav showrunner, i wouldve loved to see what he couldve done with jodie
Sorry Sacha didn’t elevate anything. Poor Jacobi. Class in his small role. Jacobis reveal as the master was brilliantly unexpected. Sacha sorry his reveal totally unconvincing.
John simm is my favourite Master, plus who hell is “Derek Jack-O-bay??” It’s “Jack-o-bee. Plus he said Anthony’s name wrong as well! Can’t he pronounce names properly??
Sacha Dhawan may not have brought much new to the Master but he is the first none white actor to play the Master just like Michelle Gomez was the first woman.
He was way better than Missy that's for sure, at least Sasha acted like the Master instead of a evil version of river song like like Missy did
@@phantomsidious2934 I did love his big reveal too.
Missy > John Simm (only by a fraction)
Roger Delgado. Watching the Clangers.
If you counted Big Finish, Jacobi would be 100% number 1
That was derek and simm that i describe and gomez and dhawan intj is also the beevers one but this one is like doom with a cross of palpatine the fact how this one sounds
No missy was more in crontrast with Gotham Gaslight Selina than only popins.
Did you just call doctor who master though
John Simm is my favorite as to me he’s the most evil.
Will they always be a second rate adversary?
I would rate gomez higher than sim. And even dahwan higher than sim, actually.
Anthony Ainley's Master is also Geoffrey Beevers Master in a stolen body
Well done making Delgado number 1
I certainly wouldn’t put Simm 2nd
Personally my top 3 are
3 Sacha
2 Anthony
1 Roger
no
@@sophlou2367 No what?
@@timelordgeek16 sacha is nowhere near top 3, and michelle was rlly good
@@sophlou2367 Matter of opinion
the decaying body was so they could change the master but took them 5 yrs to do it and also Roger Delgado was probably was the best written for he is the sanest of most of the future incarnations and in the JNT era the common thing was ainley took of his mask as says "oh doctor you have been very naive" and then a cliffhanger. Whereas in Jon Pertwee era Jon and Roger never met on screen before jon worked out it was the master.
