I was thinking exactly the same thing. How can he be overrated and make it to the top spot after beating the other 13 doctors. I can’t think of a single episode where Tennant applies to being overrated
Gamer Knuckle Yes, did you know the general doctor ranking correlates completely with the top 5 story average of a Doctor except for John Hurt and Paul McGann as they don’t have 5 stories. And this is called peak era.
I was determined to hate Matt Smith's Doctor after David Tennant's sad farewell, as it turned out though, after his first episode I was won over. But as I grew up with Tom Baker in my formative years (14 - 21) 1974 -81 I'll always hold him near and dear. Shame Christopher Eccleston didn't get more of a run, he had the makings of a great Doctor too.
I agree with Baker and Tennant, but disagree with Smith. With the exception of Doctor's Wife, Girl Who Waited, and The God Complex, I find it pretty hard to go back to anything outside of Series 5, which sucks as he was one of my first doctors.
Eccelston put his health and sanity ahead of the series, which he should have credit for, must have been hard to stop and focus on getting better, just as one has gotten a really well liked role were fans loved every second. He did an amazing introduction to the doctor to the younger generation. Without him I wouldn't have known the awesome world of the doctor, his enemies and lovey adventures. Eccelston and Tennent all the way along with the lovely Rose Tyler ❤️
Agreed. He was suffering from anorexia and the BBC don't give a shit and told him to stay thin because it looks 'good'. Which is weird since I didn't know he was thin until he was shirtless in one episode which shows how thin he his, thinner than Tennant. The leather jacket makes him look jacked.
I don't know why, but I've always felt the role belongs to Matt Smith. The way he performs his role in every episode to such a T. the consistency, the 2 sides/2 personalities - if you will (happy/cheerful & dark/sad), the dialogue, the humor; but most importantly his energy is just incredible. Body language (hands) and all. I truly feel that the role of The Doctor can't go to anyone more than Matt Smith. I truly do. But that's just my opinion.
He’s my second favourite doctor, on which David tennant is third and capaldi is my favourite. He was the one that started my doctor who trip leading into capaldi and he was really funny!
The New World yeah when David was the doctor I couldn’t imagine another doctor taking his place but then Matt Smith came. His personality was played so well with a balance of silliness and ultra badass. Though I loved both doctors Matt Smith has not been able to be outshined yet
lol why would you be, strange considering you don't feel safewith his version of the character and is almost completely domesticated. Ironically the least Doctory of all the doctors
@@James_Ravenscroft i have a lot of nostalgia for him, a lot of his stories are fantastic. But as a character and a version of the Doctor, from an evaluative and analytica point of view he's very flawed.
in all fairness the writing often can make up for budget i mean did you ever notice how in one or two episodes they would literally film around one set
Peter Capaldi was a FANTASTIC doctor!! He's a wonderful actor and his relationship with Clara was very wholesome, I love their dynamic, as well as his relationship with Missy! He had some of the best, creative storylines that worked well with his doctor and acting chops
Good to see the 12th doctor being ranked so high. I always feel I'm watching a masterclass in acting when Peter Capaldi is on screen. His doctor took a while to take off and his second series was superb, imho of course. ;)
I think Ecelston is actually fantastic. He wasn’t there long and had some bad effects but his performance is fantastic. I keep trying to think of other words but there aren’t.
Totally agree ! Christopher Eccleston was my first Doctor ! I really enjoyed his performance & was really sad he quit after just 1 season. Of Course I love David Tennant ... and I think that Matt Smith & Peter Capaldi were good too. I do not know much of the "old" doctors (1 to 8) .. I must watch their adventures ;)
TheRapper10000 She didn’t have anything to do with the writing of the show. That fell into the hands of Chris Chibnal. The new show runner. HE is the one who hired 4 writers best known for political plays. Jodie is just the actress.
To be fair, I have the same problem with the 11th Doctor as I do with 13th: the writing. I know, for most people it seems like series 5 & 6 are their favorites, but I thought the writing on those were awful. I felt like Moffat was still auditioning for the job, just throwing s$%^ at the wall and trying to see what stuck. If I'm going to knock the 13th Doctor for the writing, then I have to do the same to the 11th. (Vincent and the Doctor is an exception to this. That episode was brilliant.)
@@Windupchronic The 11th Doctor had good writing to his character. Whether or not you were a fan of the character himself is an entirely opinionated concept. However, the writers for the 13th Doctor did not know what kind of Doctor they wanted Jodie to be (except for "hip" and "modern," but they drastically failed at making her either one of those). Plus for the majority of the season the writers wrote lines that made the Doctor question herself in ways that should only have been apparent in the first episode. We still got lines like "I'm never saying that phrase again" in episode 7, compared to Matt Smith who only said that once during his first episode (as that was when he was supposed to be trying to find himself, not an episode further down the line). I understand you may not like Matt Smith's portrayal of the Doctor or his lines, but they at least were good and stayed true to his character. Awkward and comical.
@@alexzander4426 I'm only applying their own argument. They weren't knocking how Jodie personally was written, but the overall writing for the show. I'm just applying that back to the 11th. For me, the same flaw exists there. For the record, I actually really like Smith's performance as the Doctor. 11 and Amy are #6 on my favorite Doctor/companions list. I just think the writing was atrocious.
Patrick Simpson matt smith is a more querky and alienated version of tennant, which is why he didn’t disappoint when following tennants performance. Capaldi is a new who version of Hartnell, both old looking and wise, not the best at communications with other people and only to themselves.
Matt Smith is my favourite... the first doctor I watched and I fell in love with him so many times through the series. The three seasons he was the Doctor were brilliant. I love David Tennant too (How could I not?) but you never forget your first.
Such a pity none of you were watching from the start, so you all miss out on each and every actor that has played the role and, as such, are unable to make your choices relevant to the actors ability alone and select through loyalty, rather than observation of who brought what to the role.
If I was ranking 21st century doctors it would be 5. Peter Capaldi 4. Christopher Eccleston 3. Jodie Whittaker 2. David Tennant 1. Matt Smith (I would say BAE but im gunna say FFC u can figure out what that means :D)
Tom Baker IS the Doctor. That season in 1975 still takes the cake for me. He had wit and charm to go with his amazing clothes. His quirky and weirdness made me continue to watch. It was like I was always trying to figure him out. He also stood up to Davros like a badass. "No I will not!" -Tom Baker
Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor is and will always be the best Doctor. He is The Doctor. Tom Baker didn't have to act. He was just being himself as if he was living the script.
UNFORTUNATELY, his acting and general bahaviour went to the bad after 1978 and he should have left earlier than he did. His acting got a bit one-note and a run of poor scripts ruined his legacy. Past Doctors had subpar scripts but Tom was getting entire seasons of them!
@@normanby100 to be honest i noticed the change in the show as soon as jnt took over, and i understand that he and tom didnt get along, tom wasnt allowed the freedom he had before that, and the stories were not great in my opinion.
@@wackywaa1458 lol, not old enough to remember!, Jon Pertwee was my first Doctor. I was shocked at his death. It was really emotional..... and heres this buffoon in a scarf... but of course he was the greatest
Capaldi all the way. He is the perfect embodiment of the doctor. Grumpy at first, later becoming comedic and warm hearted yet dark when he needs to be.
@@chriszone50 he's in my top 4 Chris was my first doctor I grew up watching David always made me feel like the doctor was becoming more human he was clever but he didn't do second chances and all the anger made me feel like he was a real person Matt brought all this crazy awkwardness but it made him funny and he was unpredictable then you've got the speech he gave in his first episode that was hype And Peter is my #4 simply because i enjoyed his charter I loved how he had that much more mature feeling to him and how he let his reactions reflect his age better he was far more of an model version of the doctor and played him perfectly for his time in the chair and I can't say anything about anyone before the war doctor
Of the ones I've seen: 7. 8th Doctor - Paul McGann (He's not bad by any means but I've only seen him in Night of the Doctor) 6. 1st Doctor - William Hartnell (Really like him but there was still a lot to figure out with the character) 5. War Doctor - John Hurt (Fantastic performance but wasn't around for long) 4. 9th Doctor - Christopher Eccleston (I love Eccleston and wish he had stayed around for longer but he had the odd cheesy moment) 3. 11th Doctor - Matt Smith (I love how childish he is and Matt Smith gives a terrific performance every time and, more often than not, he is the best part of every episode he's in) 2. 12th Doctor - Peter Capaldi (IMO the best actor of all of the people to ever play the Doctor, and it shows in episodes like "The Zygon Inversion" and "Heaven Sent", and he's so grumpy and sarcastic and oblivious to human emotion and I've loved him since "Deep Breath." 1. David Tennant (I don't even need to say anything)
I totyalt agree matt Smith is my favorite then it is Peter calpadi and then it is David tennent because I havent seen him muth bc I started watching at series 5 but I have seen him in some episodes and he is very funny you may disagree but we all have different opinions
Strange question how have u never seen the 4th Doctor when you have seen the first? unless u are basing it on the David Bradley performance which was OK but nothing like Hartnell
Peter Capaldi was my favorite and I have to admit at the start I didn't like his stories the first few didn't make me like him. He was too gruff, too unsure of himself, and didn't jive with Clara like the Matt had. However when it started taking off and he learned himself and truly felt himself man oh man those were some of the greatest episodes to me. Even times where he looked like he was going to do something unrighteous he would learn correct himself and become an even better man for it. He was my Doctor.
Matt Smith and David Tennant have always been neck and neck for my favorite but I think I have to give it to Eleven. He was the first Doctor I watched, I think his episodes are some of the best and his relationships with Amy, Rory, and River makes them so unique. Also I love how when he gets serious or mad, its such a big contrast from his typical character.
Erm his episodes were not better then David’s also the 10th doctor had more stronger relationships with people so idk what you’re talking about maybe re watch what he did
@@SerpongeDashHaving watched since classic who then onto new who obviously watching Tennant befor Smith, I still prefer Matt Smith to David Tennant I know you said it depends who you watched 1st for *a lot of people* indicating *not all* but even though classic is my preference I do prefer Matt Smith to David Tennant.
I have to disagree, the 10th doctor and his episodes are by far the best, smiths doctor who run was childish, and amy, rory and river was too big a crew to drive a plit forward, episodes were littered with too much drama, it felt like soap opera. Its why i loved smiths run with clara better
I feel like #10 will always be my favorite. he had so much depth, thanks in part to the writers. I also LOVED how well he built suspense, and did an equally good job on the emotional bits! ❤
My favorite Doctor is Jon Pertwee, not saying the other actors didn't do a good job. He very kind man, I wrote to him and he replied with a letter and autographed picture, made this crazy American extremely happy.
Patrick Troughton is so underrated. So much of what makes up the Doctor today originated with Troughton. He's narcissistic, energetic, goofy, mischievous, and a bit of an idiot. He runs as a first solution, he is the first use a sonic screwdriver, he's just an absolute IMP and I LOVE IT!
Having watched Dr Who from the age of 4 starting with the end of the John Pertwee era I would say, on the whole, the percentage of good stories goes to the David Tennant era. Almost every story is a hit, epic story arcs and some wonderful nostalgia. However there are some absolute gems from the other eras. "My" Dr will always be Tom Baker.
I'd argue Hartnell, Pertwee and Eccleston can rival that. They all had consistently fantastic stories with only the odd let down. But Tennant had that too. As for bad stories I'd say percentage wise Colin ties with Whitaker.
@@cameroncaws5959 Tom is my doctor and forever shall be! I started watching in 1973, the three doctors to be exact, and have watched every story on first broadcast since. (and caught up with the rest as soon as I could) David had consistent great story writing but he will never touch Tom at the height of his run.3rd had consisitently good stories too, 24 of them, and I've heard complaints of only a few. 2nd had 21 stories and I've only heard complaints about 2 of them, and yeah, I agree about 6th and 13th
Id actually say Tom Bakers first few series had the best stories - Genesis of the Daleks, Pyramids of Mars, Ark in Space, Talons of Weng Chiang etc. OR the original Williams Hartnell - first appearance of the Daleks, plus original explenation of the Doctor, the Dalek Invasion of Earth (still good), first appearance of the Cyber men etc. - But Eccelston and Tennant had really great ones too. Too bad quality in writing declined so much so quick - I honestly think it started in the Tennant era with the River Song bs - that was when they started to get high on their own fluff. Tho their are still a few good ones after like Matt Smiths Van Gough episode for example
I think people dislike him because he’s very different to his predecessors of David Tennant and Matt Smith but that’s what makes him great. I like how he’s just a grumpy old Scottish man half the time and then the other half he’s a literal child.
@@rachelcookie321 I believe he is more beloved now. I really don't see too many fans crap on him anymore. I think there was backlash at the time of his casting cause he was old but by series 10 I a lot of fans really liked him. Now especially everyone wants him and Moffatt back funny enough cause of how bad the show has gotten under Chibnall. Yeah there's definitely a lot more love for him now but he is not as popular as Tennett or Smith.
@@rachelcookie321 His character was really refreshing to me. I mean, I love Tennant and Matt's Doctors, but I think Capaldi's more serious and grumpy Doctor actually bring up some things from Classic Who (or even Eccleston's incarnation) that were since gone missing. His timing on the show couldn't be more perfect; I don't think I would have liked if, for example, Jodie was the Twelfth Doctor.
Yeah Colin has some good audio dramas. Honestly Paul Mcgann might be my favorite doctor and is super underrated. Just based off of the audio dramas alone Paul is my favorite doctor and behind him is Tom Baker then David Tennett is my third. I do hope they bring him back again one day while he still looks young. Paul is 61 now believe it or not and he still looks young. The guy has good genes lol.
Paul got the whole romance thing into Dr. Who, but he was still likable. Colin was hard to like, and the way he suddenly changed - as well as lasting a short time - adds to that.
Actually, I think Peter Capaldi is overrated. He won me over eventually but David Tennant, Matt Smith and John Hurt nailed the Doctor right from the start while Capaldi took nearly 2 seasons. I haven't seen much of Colin Baker but I've seen enough to know that the guy's a great actor. As for Christopher Ecclestone, he kind of feels like a footnote to me because he was so overshadowed by Tennant, Smith and Hurt.
The Legend She will get better in her next series, she may surpass Paul McGann, William Hartnell and Sylvester McCoy, maybe higher depending on the quality of the series.
My top 10: 1. Tom Baker 2. David Tennant 3. Peter Capaldi 4. Matt Smith 5. Jon Pertwee 6. Patrick Troughton 7. Sylvester McCoy* 8. Colin Baker* 9. William Hartnell 10. Peter Davidson 11. Christopher Eccleston 12. Paul McCann* 13. William Hurt 14. Jodie Whittaker * Big Finish stories help flesh out their portrayals especially Colin Baker.
Troughton saved the show from being cancelled In 1966. If he hadn’t been so great at evoking hartnell while taking the show in a new direction it would have died.
I mean, he's definitely not top 3. You ever notice how classic Who never brings anyone to the series now? Do all of you honestly believe that's because it's superior acting and writing must just scare everyone off? Classic Who is fine as a random tv show, but modern Who makes it look like dog shit.
Stephen Murphy Yes he was the best casted Doctor, he looked the most doctory in series 10. And even though the writing didn’t fulfil his potential, he is still one of the best doctors. And it looks like the trolls and haters who attacked his doctor are now tired and leaving his doctor in peace now that his era is over as they left the other doctors they attacked.
Stephen Murphy He is the best actor. But they only showed clips from series 8 and 9. Where the F is series 10, the Doctor Falls speech or Heaven Sent, Flatline, Listen, Mummy on the Orient Express.
I think people are forgetting just how good some of the early Doctors were. The first Doctor was a shock for me when I first saw him, given that I was introduced to the character with Tom Baker, but Hartnell was very good. I loved the development of his character over his run. He had surprising depth and was great fun to watch. He also had some especially touching moments. I also loved McCoy because he brought back a sense of mystery to the character, as well as a dangerous "don't f**k with me" side, which (along with his wonderful relationship with Ace) seemed to become the pattern that modern Doctors have been built around. But he did it long before them, and seeing him go from a goofy character to a dangerous manipulator was exciting and a little scary.
@@MichaelJohnson-kq7qg How’s he not a good doctor. The character of the Doctor, the fact that despite everything, he is not always a good person is apart of the character. Family of blood shows this best. The Doctor tried running to be kind but they forced his hand and he gave them what they wanted but not in the way they expected. But time and time again, he’s shown to be kind above all. He is both the most human and the most alien version of the Doctor
@@charlieharcombe7585 not at all. He's shown to be the most short-tempered, mean, cruel and just plain vindictive. Can he be charming? Sure. Is he just great in the role? Absolutely. Is Tennant's Doctor 'a good man'? Not remotely. He is selfish, malicious, and just generally a horrible person. People mistake how charming the character is, and how much fun he is to watch, for whether he is a good version person.
@@MichaelJohnson-kq7qg Colin Baker, Capaldi or Eccleston were the most short tempered. All versions of the Doctor have done terrible things. It’s apart of the character. 10 is no less kind though. You’re making him out to be a monster while he’s still going around doing good with dark bits sprinkled in. The only time he became as monstrous as you’re making him out to be is waters of Mars, which he obviously regretted and made for a great story and made his character all the more compelling. Hell, he gave his own regeneration/ life just to save an old man despite him being able to complete so much more
@@charlieharcombe7585 interesting you mention wilf. Go watch that whole scene again. 10 was absolutely unforgivable. 6 wasn't especially short tempered except when he has just regenerated, although he was kind of egotistical. 9 wasnt especially cold except at the start of his run when he was quite vicious towards Daleks. But 10 - 10 cruelly tortured people. 10 considered his own life worth more than wilf. 10 thought he should decide who could live or die. You should go back and watch 10s run again, but objectively Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of 10s run - but he is vile
Some random factoids about Jon Pertwee: All of his "dapper" clothes were custom made, and they made a new one for every episode, and since they were custom they couldn't be reused for anyone else so when he left the show they gave them all to him. For the rest of his life every time he did a convention he auctioned one for charity, and he was single handedly supporting an orphanage with it. Also, when he was a child he was friends with Christopher Robin Milne. Yes, that Christopher Robin. So Dr Who probably met Pooh Bear.
A good friend of mine used to own his ribbed plum jacket from Planet of the Daleks, bought from a Bonhams auction. He later sold it a couple of years ago to Mark Gatiss (who actually put it into shot, hanging up on a rack in Capaldi's final story). I've worn that plum jacket and it truly is a thing of beauty, the quality of 'tailorship' that went into making it was incredible.
David Tennant is my favorite, along with Peter close behind him. David Tennant just put so much of himself into the role and did a really awesome job. Series 2 was my favorite just cause how enjoyable it was and it made me cry so much at the end.
This video ranks most of the doctors close to where I would rank them. My personal top 5 Doctor's list: 1) The 4th Doctor - Do I really need to say why? 2) The 10th and 11th Doctors - Tie, because I can't choose. 4) The 3rd Doctor - Who can ever dislike Jon Pertwee? 5) The 12th Doctor - Simply brilliant!
As great as he was he 3rd place is the right place for him. Unless you've watched all of tom bakers and David Tennant's eras at the time you won't understand just how much his role was influenced by them, the two that made the doctor a serious character in the respective times.
The 6th Doctor highly underrated and my 3rd fave Doc of all time "In all my travelling throughout the universe, I have battled against evil, against power-mad conspirators. I should have stayed here. The oldest civilisation: decadent, degenerate, and rotten to the core. Power-mad conspirators, Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen - they're still in the nursery compared to us. Ten million years of absolute power. That's what it takes to be really corrupt." - Trial of a Timelord (6th Dr)
The Almighty Geoff Patrick Troughton is done dirty a lot. He is generally ranked above Jon Pertwee. But because he was long ago and has many missing episodes he is underrated.
I know, I’ll admit until recently they were both mid to lower on my Doctor ranking because so much was gone, but after watching all Classic Who in order including the missing serials they’ve gone up drastically. When people give them a chance they can find that era really entertaining
The Almighty Geoff I agree with 2. I disagree with 1, he was ranked higher than usual, he should be below Peter Davison. William Hartnell has one of the weakest slow paced writing. He is generally ranked just above Jodie Whitaker and Collin Baker and sometimes Paul McGann.
The Almighty Geoff I agree Patrick Troughton should have been 5th. But William Hartnell should have been below Peter Davison. Hartnell didn’t have the best writing and is generally ranked in the bottom 4.
Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor But I would also love to add my love for Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor and John Hurt as the War Doctor. I would have loved to see more of their stories on screen
@@julieeverett7442 Are you sure? Matt, about to die of old age, was rejuvenated, when the Rift opened, temporarily. Seems there's a power that gives not a jot for rules. One of them has to go back, reverse the War Doctor's decision to go to war. Why not himself? Or the first lady Doctor, who mysteriously popped up out of nowhere? What about the universe Rose occupies? What's her Doctor and War Doctor up to? Argue your limitations and they're your's. 😉
Predictable, going for Colin's post-regeneration crisis to use as an overall example of his judge of character. That moment was about 2% of his entire performance.
Adam Darren Yes, I hate the clips they used. They don’t use clips from Revelation of the Daleks, Vengeance on varos, The two doctors, mindwarp or the mysterious planet. Or mention big finish Davros, Jubilee, The Holy Terror. No they decide to sum up his doctor with his worst scene from his worst story, strangling Peri. And out of context it looks worse, as people won’t know he wasn’t doing it out of anger but temporary madness. And they use some of his worst scenes to make him look worse. They couldn’t have used his speech in Trial of a time lord.
While it's true that narratively, it's a poor judge of the character, it was also how the BBC chose to introduce this character. For a lot of people, that first impression soured that Doctor to them. Obviously though, Colin got screwed just about every step of the way. Pretty sure I read somewhere that if Colin had his drathers, he would have been in a tux, and that the producers at the time put him in that clown getup.
@@michaellemmons4759 Colin wanted a black leather get up like Eccleston had, just with a longer coat. He wanted to be unnoticed, and Colin would have looked great in black!
The character really mellows out by the end of his first season. Personally he's my second favourite Doctor. I just wish people could understand that he actually has character development.
I know what you're saying. But I think other people resent his performance for how nasty he could be to Peri all the time, namely in early scenes in Timelash, Revelation of the Daleks and throughout most of Mark of the Rani.
Tennat is obviously great, but Christopher eccleston has my heart ❤❤ he was FANTASTIC ❤ but in the end, they are the same person, in different time frames and that is what which makes the show one of the longest running shows of all times ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Peter, sadly, was a poor imitation of Hartnell. I mean he actually tried imitating Hartnell, but rendered a poor performance. No gravitas or majesty. Why? He also wanted to be a rock hero at the same time. Like a teenager whining that nobody takes them seriously. I expected better of him and he failed to deliver. Fortunately, he did enough to raise his standard above those post Troughton, pre Eccleston and knocks Jodie for six. Did you know the very first episode of Dr Who was rewritten, before airing? It was felt, amongst other things, that the Doctor was too callous and had a tad too much sadism in his character. Hartnell, Troughton, Eccleston and Tennant gave us frequent flashes of that psychopathy. Smith gave a few brief glimpses, but Peter...I had such high hopes for him. Smh.
Should have been fourth placed. Tennant, Eccleston, Hartnell, then him...the only four that never forgot they were playing an alien with human form and didn't rely on wardrobe and overacting to play the role.
Poor Jodie...given crap scripts by Chibs, who seems more concerned with changing the Dr, a unique alien, into a PC character conforming to human, snowflake standards. Hard enough a job to keep a fan base convinced it's a male role, but he handed her a Herulean task. I'll always remember him as the idiot that not only wasn't up to the job, but also as the guy that exterminated both the Dr's character and a good actresses's reputation. Smh.
If chibnall was going to make a female doctor he should’ve done it after a first doctor and im sorry but whittaker just isn’t right for the role at all, dont get me wrong she’s not a bad actress but she just isnt right for sci fi and Doctor who, quite like chibnall
I love tennant but I don’t think he should be first. Tom Baker was perfect for the role with him acting all funny the next and then shit goes from 1-100 with him. Same with Smith. Tennant spent a good chunk of his time talking about rose which got annoying after s while...
I do agree with you however 10 has a really colourful personality; the problem is he can't maintain all of them. In season 2 he was extremely jolly, playful and silly like the 11th or the 4th Doctor, going out of his way to snog famous people throughout history and pretending to be drunk whilst saving Rose and Mickey. He was more of a human Doctor and gradually accepted losing Rose near series 4 which is why he left her with the meta-crisis Doctor. I do admit the love thing gets really annoying with 10 but his other aspects are truly amazing. Series 3 he was still accepting that he lost Rose, met Martha and Donna and got over it. Plus he's the second incarnation of the Doctor after the time war so he's not going to be very jolly all the time. I understand where you're coming from though.
I agree I thought watch mojo finally got it right til the last two. Tom Baker will always be THE doctor, for pure fan appeal, longeivety and writing, NO ONE compares. (and yes I AM old enough to remember all of the doctors except the first, though i've seen some of them on dvd now!!!) For me my top 5 is Tom Baker, Peter Davidson, Jon Pertwee, David Tennant and Matt Smith
12. Matt Smith - annoying 11. William Hartnell - grumpy 10. Paul McGann - dashing 9. Peter Capaldi - rude 8. Colin Baker - egotistical 7. Peter Davison - kind 6. Christopher Eccleston - wounded 5. David Tenant - relatable 4. Tom Baker - the standard 3. Jon Pertwee - badass 2. Patrick Troughton - loveable oaf 1. Sylvester McCoy - chess master
2 things: 1. Colin is brilliant once you listen to Big Finish where he character gets a big rewrite and is great 2. Patrick Troughtan is my favourite doctor, so to see him at 8 I think is completely unreasonable, he should at least be in the top 3 (with Tom and Peter Capaldi) stop 8 is simply unfair for him as he’s the first doctor from regeneration. And most doctors from Nuwho take a lot of their energy from how he played the character
Luke Wilkinson He is generally ranked in the top 5 so it does him no service to be put below Eccelston. Patrick Troughton is so very underrated, Christopher Eccelston only tops Pertwee and Troughton because he was more recent and doesn’t have missing episodes.
Mental_Toast if you actually watched his era then you would see the nuances of his character and see that he pretends to be a Troughton rip off because he is actually times champion and the master manipulator of the universe.
Dan Watts You do know the vast majority prefer Peter Capaldi. Peter Capaldi is one of the best because his era reaches great peaks making it into the top 4. But the criticism of his era which attracts the minority, trolls and haters is the inconsistent quality of his era, but when it comes to Peter Davison, Peter Capaldi’s weak point(his average era) is better than Peter Davisons. So in conclusion Peter Capaldi has a better peak era this generally ranked in the top 4, he is the better actor and even his average era is better. So Peter Capaldi is better in every single way.
@@chriszone50 it's not his acting I take issue with even his character was pretty good reminiscent of Colin Baker who I highly rank. He made one of the worst decissions any doctor has ever made by going back to save Clara when Peter Davison refused to go back to save Adric due to laws of time making Adrics death pointless in "hellbent" if he could have just gone back to save him. If we are talking scripts this is when the sjw influence was at it's heights before they gender swapped the doctor of course . I grew up with Peter Davison which may have something to do with my bias. Also just because Capaldi is generally in the top 4 doesn't prove anything when David Tennant is often ranked higher than nearly all the classic doctors which is also obviously what most people think. Also in my opinion he had some of the worst companions ever . However at the end of the day it comes down to preferences , most people rank colin Baker worst or 2nd from bottom which I don't agree with at all but I'm not saying I'm right just I have preferences.
@@mrjekyllandhyde9941 Well Hell Bent was a bad story, but I usually just skip that story. But when it comes to Big Finish Peter Davison would be better because he has some great stories which are inevitable from 20 years on big finish. The Caves of Androzani, Earthshock, Spare Parts, The Kingmaker, Time in Office etc.
Honestly the eleventh doctor has been my favorite. I've grown up with him Spence I was 5 when he was first shown. He had a perfect ending with fish sticks and custard
I gotta say Smith is by far my Favorite...but i love the fact that tennants wife (who played the doctors Daughter) is also the IRL daughter of the Fifth Doctor. (i think its the fifth at least.)
Disappointed in Peter's Doctor. I'd expected more from him, but it wasn't to be. Rumours of his suggestions with character changes and lines being snubbed out of hand. That, in my book, would explain a lot, maybe even exonerate him.
In my opinion Tennant was definitely the best wasnt just him it was the episodes and the music it just all worked very well same with Christopher Eccleston who was my second favourite the episodes were good aswell however with Matt Smith the episodes were just silly as it went on in my opinion stuff such as companions that David Tennant had were so good. Also the same with the tardis everything was so good
6th Doctor is my favourite Classic Who Doctor. His personality shines through in all his episodes, however weak the script, and he absolutely shines in Big Finish. Seriously some of Big Finish's best stuff is with the 6th Doctor: The Holy Terror, Jubilee, Davros. Colin Baker is also a stand out guy, passionate about the show and fans and a great actor.
Milibae Industries The thing with Big Finish is that those of us that listen to them LOVE them and treat them as equals to the tv series (if not better!), but so many people won’t touch them and won’t ever experience the joy that is the 6th Doctor’s real self.
In my humble opinion: 1. Peter Capaldi 2. Tom Baker 3. David Tennant 4. Matt Smith 5. Jon Pertwee 6. Christopher Eccelston 7. Patrick Troughton 8. William Hartnell 9. Sylvester McCoy 10. Peter Davison 11. Paul McGann 12. Jodie Whittaker 13. John Hurt 14. Colin Baker They’re all excellent though.
My List: David Tennant Matt Smith Tom Baker Patrick Troughton Christopher Eccleston Jon Pertwee Peter Capaldi Paul McGann William Hartnell John Hurt Sylvester McCoy Jodie Whittaker Colin Baker
@John Winchester3567 Matt Smith was a clown. He played the Doctor like a monkey with ADHD. The only reason he's not the worst Doctor of modern Who is because Jodie Whittaker doesn't even leave an impression. Tennant, Capaldi, and Eccleston are all superior to Smith. They actually lent the Doctor gravitas in their portrayals.
@@Maulbert Matt Smith is my favorite new who Doctor, very eccentric and alien-like like the best doc ever Tom Baker, Tennant is not the worst IMO but I think he's overrated considering I think there are many classic Doctors that are better yet he normally reaches top spot in Doctor rankings. However he's not the worst of new who

@@Abhsgvahah it's because of this thinking that the audience has dropped considerably. Spyfall was the best thing chibnall made till this point, yet audiences kept falling.
I just want to say, thank you WatchMojo for clearly showing interest in your research. Those Big Finish Audio's are a huge part of the series and well appreciated for a shoutout :)
Billy, this is just another ten-penny internet top ten thing, not an *official* poll. In the official poll by the BBC, the consensus voted Tom Baker as _'The Nation's Favourite Doctor'_ and was even presented with an award for it. 😜 ForceMaximus, I wouldn't concern yourself too much, it's only Mojo, their top tens are usually a load of bull anyway.
Top 14 doctors (not counting Ruth n timeless child, etc etc.) 14) Sixth (on TV only) 13) Seventh (mehh) 12) Thirteenth (don't get me wrong, her era was just MEH and not well-written but I don't actually mind at all Thirteens persona) 11) Fifth (he was nice tho) 10) Eighth (mainly because of the movie, but he suited a much more serious role, like in Night of the Dr) 9) War (we didn't see enough of him, but he was a compelling character none the less) 8) First (I still love his character though and how he was the ORIGINAL doctor, before his heroing) 7) Second (v good; never seen another Doctor as timid as him yet. Basically the other First Doctor) 6) Third (Adore this doctor, one of the best in the classic series) 5) Eleventh (the rest here are just iconic and love them all. 11 was just brilliant as a sad, regretful, alien space grandpa, the childishness almost put me off but his loneliness is just ugh. He's one of the best) 4) Fourth (Best of the classic series, without a doubt. Probably the most Doctorish Doctor that ever Doctored. He's just iconic idk) 3) Tenth (I had a lot of trouble placing the top 3, I'll put 10 here though. His run was arguably the best of the series, best episodes, best characters, best series, scriptwriting etc etc. He was very emotional, dark and human too but idk, l like it when the doctors very distant to everyone else. Meta-crisis doctor was a nice touch too) 2) Twelfth (Idc what you say, 12 and 9 were the best doctors. 12s personality change and his recklessness/distance at the start was just a breathe of fresh air from the romantic Doctor guy. Don't get me wrong, 9 10 and 11 were great but I don't think I would've liked to see another romantic young doctor all of a sudden. I was unsure at first of the twelfth doctor but during his run he's just incredible. Great performances from Peter Capaldi, probably Dr who's best ever actor as lead role and tbh it wasnt until series 9 that he was above David Tennant) 1) Ninth ( shush. I love the Doctor in a serious role, especially as a traumatised war veteran. Christopher Eccleston just did that brilliantly and idc what anyone says, Eccleston is MY doctor. If he had more time as the doctor, he would probably be number 1 without a doubt but for now, im going to say my two favourite were 12 and 9, in joint first place, lets say. Only putting 9 as number one because he was the first of the new series and completely reimagoned the doctor in the modern era)
Tennant is a great doctor and my personal fave but I think Capaldi is the best doctor by far. He gave the doctor so much more depth and complexity than any other actor thus far.
@LittleRedRhuari RRR As long as the BBC doesn't fire Chibnall, the thirteenth series will also be awful and I hope it will be Whittakers last, so they can retcon all this Timeless Child rubbish.
@LittleRedRhuari RRR Even if she did become good which pretty much means Firing the whole writing team as well as Chris Chibnall and hiring a team that actually know what their doing , she'd still be the wrong sex no ammount of good writing can change that accept a regeneration.
@LittleRedRhuari RRR plenty of timelords regenerated into women when *new who* invented the ability so they could have a female Doctor. Classic Dr Who Timelords never had this ability
@LittleRedRhuari RRR So they broke 25 years of canon to shoe horn a female Doctor in and the writers won't change a female Timelord into a male Timelord because it goes against tha femininist narrative so as a lore it is one way way traffic and they call it progressive I call it sexist. Why do I think one of the longest running male roles shouldn't be female. Why should it ??? The Doctor has always been a male character
@LittleRedRhuari RRR changing the capability of the Timelord race is breaking canon when previously male Timelords could only regenerate into other male versions and female Timelords can only regenerate into other female Timelords that's changing canon not adding to it. As for your "sexist" comment I don't want to see female Timelords played by men or male Timelords played by women correct me if I'm wrong but having the same standard for men and women isn't sexist. Also changing a character like the Doctor who was originally established as male from male to female then back to male is hardly the same as having a major female Timelord like "Romana" "the Rani" "Susan" for example becoming a man. I just think they are hypocritical within there own rules. (which i disagree with). If it doesn't matter to you what sex the Doctor is then why should he be female. The Doctor has only been male ever since i started watching in the 1980's and even before then, for over 50 years. . However If it's okay to change the doctors sex it seems it's okay to give the dr unlimited regens and William Hartnell not being the 1st incarnation anymore it's all retcon who . As you portray me as an intolerant person but your the one flinging insults and being aggressive because i have a differrent opinion to you.

Also Watchmojo: Makes David Tennant #1
Ergo, Tom is No.1.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. How can he be overrated and make it to the top spot after beating the other 13 doctors. I can’t think of a single episode where Tennant applies to being overrated
Just to clarify, *THERE IS NO BAD DOCTOR, ONLY BAD SCRIPTS*
Honestly Thank You, Like there's nothing wrong with the acting, its just the writing.
Gamer Knuckle That is very true. A Doctor is mostly based on writing.
Gamer Knuckle Yes, did you know the general doctor ranking correlates completely with the top 5 story average of a Doctor except for John Hurt and Paul McGann as they don’t have 5 stories. And this is called peak era.
Gamer Knuckle Yes. The top 5 stories determine a doctor’s rank. Which is know as their peak era. It correlates to the general doctor who ranking.

🙂
Everything about this comment is my feelings exactly. David, Matt, Tom
Eccleston is doing some audios. Tennant has already done some and there are ones for every Doctor from 1 to 10. In case you want more of them.
The reason Christopher Eccleston left was because he was treated badly behind the screen
FazeGregPaul 69 Thanks, that explains a lot. ☹️
I truly believe the 9th doctor would have been regarded as one of the best if he had stayed through seasons 2 and 3, maybe even more. He's my favorite
same.
Capaldi has been my personal favorite but I do acknowledge that Tennant and Smith tended to have better writing.
I agree with Baker and Tennant, but disagree with Smith. With the exception of Doctor's Wife, Girl Who Waited, and The God Complex, I find it pretty hard to go back to anything outside of Series 5, which sucks as he was one of my first doctors.
HyperParadigm I agree that Matt Smith’s era felt weaker. I would rank series 8, 9 and 10 above series 6 and 7.
Kasey OBrien But Matt Smith had worse writing. Series 5 was great but what about series 6 and 7, worse than any of Matt Smith’s seasons.
Kasey OBrien Why, overall Matt Smith had weaker writing. Did you forget series 6 and 7 all worse than any of Capaldi’s seasons.
Kasey OBrien Why the hell did they show no clips from series 10 or his doctor Falls speech or no Heaven Sent. It is absolutely a disgrace.
Ik
Agreed. He was suffering from anorexia and the BBC don't give a shit and told him to stay thin because it looks 'good'. Which is weird since I didn't know he was thin until he was shirtless in one episode which shows how thin he his, thinner than Tennant. The leather jacket makes him look jacked.
Absolutely!! :)
Lovely my big fat arse!

@@LadyArachnea yes check out the older doctors Tom Baker is the best
Jodie could have been better if it wasn't for Chibnall's utter incompetence.
Agreed! Given better writing, Jodie could definitely have quite an edge.

Hey, Tennant and Tom Baker are my two favorites as well. Can't forget about Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi either.
Patrick Simpson matt smith is a more querky and alienated version of tennant, which is why he didn’t disappoint when following tennants performance. Capaldi is a new who version of Hartnell, both old looking and wise, not the best at communications with other people and only to themselves.

UNFORTUNATELY, his acting and general bahaviour went to the bad after 1978 and he should have left earlier than he did. His acting got a bit one-note and a run of poor scripts ruined his legacy. Past Doctors had subpar scripts but Tom was getting entire seasons of them!

Tennant was my first doctor but hes so overrated and Matt Smith is my favourite doctor
loved both Smith and Tenant. Would've loved Ecclestein if they allowed him to be around for more then one season
"My" Dr will always be Tom Baker.
exactly the same here
I'd argue Hartnell, Pertwee and Eccleston can rival that.
Tho their are still a few good ones after like Matt Smiths Van Gough episode for example
honestly i think the first season is the most consistent in new who
Peter Capaldi is underrated change my mind.
Peter Capaldi is my favourite doctor. In my opinion he fit the role perfectly.
He has his moments but Moffat fucked him up
@@rachelcookie321 His character was really refreshing to me.
Tom baker not even a contest!
12:03 when you order pizza
12:11 when your neighbor at the door
My favourite Doctor is Matt Smith’s Doctor.
facts
He was my favorite too... Literally my profile picture on my school account for 3 years
Yes matt is the best always
Colin baker, peter capaldi and Christopher eccleston are so underrated
1. Baker 2. Tennant 3. Capaldi. Having said that I would have liked to have seen McGann get a longer run at it.
If you're in the Uk, enjoy a life long supply of 8th doctor Audio stories on Spotify.
C’mon Troughton is way too low I would have put him at least at 4th place.
If it were not for Troughton, the series may not have continued on. Hartnell was the start, but Troughton showed the potential.
I have him at 3rd or 2nd (battling it out with Capaldi). Smith is #1 for me.
5th place for me
"yes it is a big one jamie"
No way
Everyone has their favourites but in my opinion no doctor did wrong
Except Jodie Shittaker of course
Michael McGrath no she has only had one season so there is room to improve and it’s not her fault it’s the writers
The Legend no it’s both
Jack Games2016 ok but she has the potential to be great
The Legend She will get better in her next series, she may surpass Paul McGann, William Hartnell and Sylvester McCoy, maybe higher depending on the quality of the series.
My top 10:
1. Tom Baker
2. David Tennant
3. Peter Capaldi
4. Matt Smith
5. Jon Pertwee
6. Patrick Troughton
7. Sylvester McCoy*
8. Colin Baker*
9. William Hartnell
10. Peter Davidson
11. Christopher Eccleston
12. Paul McCann*
13. William Hurt
14. Jodie Whittaker
* Big Finish stories help flesh out their portrayals especially Colin Baker.
Patrick Troughton in 8th place clearly they never watched any of classic who. Troughton is easily in the top 5.
Yes! He is my favourite.
True
Troughton saved the show from being cancelled In 1966. If he hadn’t been so great at evoking hartnell while taking the show in a new direction it would have died.
I mean, he's definitely not top 3. You ever notice how classic Who never brings anyone to the series now? Do all of you honestly believe that's because it's superior acting and writing must just scare everyone off? Classic Who is fine as a random tv show, but modern Who makes it look like dog shit.
@@NottherealLucifer I disagree my favorite doctors are 4, 10 and 2
Capaldi was the best casting choice for the Doctor, in my opinion.
Life Upgrade I don’t think his time as the Doctor was a complete failure. He had a handful of good episodes.
Stephen Murphy Yes, But it pissed me off that they didn’t use clips from series 10, his Doctor Falls speech or Heaven Sent. So stupid.
Stephen Murphy Hate how they used no clips from series 10.
But he did it long before them, and seeing him go from a goofy character to a dangerous manipulator was exciting and a little scary.
i didnt mind mccoy, but i thought he only had 2 great stories, remembrance of the daleks and dragonfire
Tennant just embodies the role more than anyone on the list. Too iconic. Best cast and best companions and writing. The lonely god. He is just so good
I loved Tennant's Doctor, but he's not a good Doctor. By design. Tennant's Doctor is a monster. The nearest incarnation we've had to the Valeyard.
You should go back and watch 10s run again, but objectively
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of 10s run - but he is vile
Some random factoids about Jon Pertwee: All of his "dapper" clothes were custom made, and they made a new one for every episode, and since they were custom they couldn't be reused for anyone else so when he left the show they gave them all to him. For the rest of his life every time he did a convention he auctioned one for charity, and he was single handedly supporting an orphanage with it. Also, when he was a child he was friends with Christopher Robin Milne. Yes, that Christopher Robin. So Dr Who probably met Pooh Bear.
So adorable!
Pertwee was also a veteran of WWII (Navy). In his first episode, you’ll see a faded tattoo on his upper arm...
My personal top 5 Doctor's list:
1) The 4th Doctor - Do I really need to say why?
2) The 10th and 11th Doctors - Tie, because I can't choose.
4) The 3rd Doctor - Who can ever dislike Jon Pertwee?
5) The 12th Doctor - Simply brilliant!
yes, with Hartnell and Troughton tied behind them because without these 2 it would have never worked
Matt, David and Christopher💔
these men left me no hope to find a partner who could be that awesome
Have you seen the ones before christopher?
Matt Smith should have been higher because he was AMAZING
Blythe Padfield he is my favourite doctor should be number 1 or 2
As great as he was he 3rd place is the right place for him. Unless you've watched all of tom bakers and David Tennant's eras at the time you won't understand just how much his role was influenced by them, the two that made the doctor a serious character in the respective times.
YES
I may be alone in this, but Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor. David Remnant and Tom Baker run right behind him, but I do like Paul McCann.
Daisy Brambletoes Matt is my favourite doctor he has the best companions and best episodes he is also a GREAT actor
Fun fact: the sixth doctor was my Year 2 teacher at school’s dad :)
Colin Baker?
The 6th Doctor highly underrated and my 3rd fave Doc of all time
"In all my travelling throughout the universe, I have battled against evil, against power-mad conspirators.
Damn this list did Bill and Pat dirty 😭 60’s Who was 👌
The Almighty Geoff Patrick Troughton is done dirty a lot.
The Almighty Geoff William Hartnell is where he belongs. He is usually bottom 3.
“Again with the pointing! What are you going to do?! Assemble a cabinet at them?!” - The War Doctor (from the episode ‘Day of the doctor’).
My favs are 4, 9, 10, & 11. I'm crossing my fingers for another like them.
Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor
But I would also love to add my love for Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor and John Hurt as the War Doctor. I would have loved to see more of their stories on screen

Are you sure?
Matt, about to die of old age, was rejuvenated, when the Rift opened, temporarily.
Seems there's a power that gives not a jot for rules.
One of them has to go back, reverse the War Doctor's decision to go to war.
Why not himself?
Or the first lady Doctor, who mysteriously popped up out of nowhere?
What about the universe Rose occupies?
What's her Doctor and War Doctor up to?
Argue your limitations and they're your's. 😉
I mean John Hurt is dead, we cant see him do anymore work!
Tennat is obviously great, but Christopher eccleston has my heart ❤❤ he was FANTASTIC ❤
but in the end, they are the same person, in different time frames and that is what which makes the show one of the longest running shows of all times ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I think the best was the twelfth Doctor Who!!! I adore him, Peter Capaldi played him perfectly!!! Just incredible... I love him
Peter, sadly, was a poor imitation of Hartnell.
Smh.
Billy Andrew where is the evidence to back any of this up?
I'm outraged that the 2nd doctor Patrick Troughton got #8. Absolutely criminal.

@@kyloren6396 Probs will always be my favorite. He's definitely one of a kind.

Trip Case I’m okay for Tennant being one but would prefer Tom Baker first.
Trip Case I find it stupid that they use clips from Destiny of the Dalek’s over Genesis of the Daleks.

11. William Hartnell - grumpy
10. Paul McGann - dashing
9. Peter Capaldi - rude
8. Colin Baker - egotistical
7. Peter Davison - kind
6. Christopher Eccleston - wounded
5. David Tenant - relatable
4. Tom Baker - the standard
3. Jon Pertwee - badass
2. Patrick Troughton - loveable oaf
1. Sylvester McCoy - chess master
2 things:
1. Colin is brilliant once you listen to Big Finish where he character gets a big rewrite and is great
Matt Smith’s basically a modern ripoff of troughton
I've got Troughton at 5, but I think all of my top 9 deserve to be in the top 5, and all of my top 7 deserve to be in the top 3
Mental_Toast if you actually watched his era then you would see the nuances of his character and see that he pretends to be a Troughton rip off because he is actually times champion and the master manipulator of the universe.
Fraser James indeed
I loved David Tennant!!! But I felt Peters was more whovian.
Which Peter dumbass!
@@MichaelM28 I assume he means Peter Capaldi but Peter Davison was better if you ask me
Dan Watts You do know the vast majority prefer Peter Capaldi.

6th Doctor is my favourite Classic Who Doctor. His personality shines through in all his episodes, however weak the script, and he absolutely shines in Big Finish. Billy, this is just another ten-penny internet top ten thing, not an *official* poll. In the official poll by the BBC, the consensus voted Tom Baker as _'The Nation's Favourite Doctor'_ and was even presented with an award for it. 😜
ForceMaximus, I wouldn't concern yourself too much, it's only Mojo, their top tens are usually a load of bull anyway.
Billy Andrew Oh, you sure showed me, random Internet person named Billy. 😂🤣
Agree, Tom Baker is great!
hope you mean tom, not colin
I feel like Capaldi should’ve been higher than the nonce, but it’s not my list 🤷🏻♂️
The nonce? What are you even talking about?
Matt Smith?
The script writing let him down if he had been given a good script he could’ve made the top 3
@@MANB91UK pretty sure he meant David Tennant the Doctor that chases girls tha are 100s of years younger than himself
Same
My favourite doctor is Patrick Troughton cos i still young enough to be scared of the monsters in his era.
Top 14 doctors (not counting Ruth n timeless child, etc etc.)
14) Sixth (on TV only)
13) Seventh (mehh)
12) Thirteenth (don't get me wrong, her era was just MEH and not well-written but I don't actually mind at all Thirteens persona)
11) Fifth (he was nice tho)
10) Eighth (mainly because of the movie, but he suited a much more serious role, like in Night of the Dr)
9) War (we didn't see enough of him, but he was a compelling character none the less)
8) First (I still love his character though and how he was the ORIGINAL doctor, before his heroing)
7) Second (v good; never seen another Doctor as timid as him yet. Basically the other First Doctor)
6) Third (Adore this doctor, one of the best in the classic series)
5) Eleventh (the rest here are just iconic and love them all. 11 was just brilliant as a sad, regretful, alien space grandpa, the childishness almost put me off but his loneliness is just ugh. He's one of the best)
4) Fourth (Best of the classic series, without a doubt. Probably the most Doctorish Doctor that ever Doctored. He's just iconic idk)
3) Tenth (I had a lot of trouble placing the top 3, I'll put 10 here though. His run was arguably the best of the series, best episodes, best characters, best series, scriptwriting etc etc. He was very emotional, dark and human too but idk, l like it when the doctors very distant to everyone else. Meta-crisis doctor was a nice touch too)
2) Twelfth (Idc what you say, 12 and 9 were the best doctors. Great performances from Peter Capaldi, probably Dr who's best ever actor as lead role and tbh it wasnt until series 9 that he was above David Tennant)
1) Ninth ( shush.

Brave choice celery but fair play, not a lot of men can carry a decorative vegetable
@@Kazavop was hoping they'd use that footage.
Sad they didn't
Tennant is a great doctor and my personal fave but I think Capaldi is the best doctor by far. He gave the doctor so much more depth and complexity than any other actor thus far.
NepEnut you must be joking David tennant gave it far more depth and peter capaldi story lines were trash
May I make a third suggestion for top spot ?
which is the legend that is Tom Baker.
7:12- Yes, HE'S the first Doctor. HE is, to hell with The Timeless Children!
