- This has been recorded for around a week but I haven't had a chance to upload it so here it is. The Crazy Toys Bootleg Knock-off of the Sideshow Collectibles Superman 1:6 scale action figure. This review will show you everything you need to know if you are on the fence about buying this sub standard copy of our beloved Man of Steel from an Asian Seller.
I think I'm like everyone who ordered this fig. I got it so I can do a custom Christopher Reeve Superman. It worked pretty well.
This figure is a great for a Christopher Reeves custom, the material is beautiful, boots can be heated with a hairdryer and cut down, replace the body with a TBLeage M33 stitch the Cape inside the costume, remove the inner material from the shorts put on a Christopher Reeves head sculpt and boom a really nice Superman figure 😎
I'm trying to to this, but can the boots be removed?
When you opened that tin I had visions of you being Sid from Toy Story.😂..... great video .
Sometimes I feel like my toys think of me as Sid. Hahaha!
I ordered this figure along with the man of steel figure.. I don't mind the knock off . I'm going to do a custom for both using the m35 seamless body.
I always felt the Sideshow proportions overall were off but definitely the heads were two big, even on Batman. Also the heads always looked a bit grey to me, oh and the cape could be better on both the Sideshow and Crazy Toys one. Crazy Toys body looks to mostly copy Hot Toys.
Bought one 3 years ago. Still waiting for it.

That head sculpt would only be fit if you were doing a 1940s 1/6 scale Fleischer Superman figure. That's just me.

Thanks Geoffrey! I’ve been pretty excited to see so many people enjoying my brand of DC Comics love too. The suit is on a Superman from Medicom already. I need to do a bit more work on it though. He looks pretty scrawny. 😜
If you look at old Superman comic books, Superman's shorts have. 2 belt loops in front and none on the back, like his belt defies gravity. But that's how it was drawn.

He has no belt loops in the back of his shorts. Just two in front.
I have the Beast kingdom version. Nobody compares sideshow with KB..I'm happy with mine. They only compare crazy toys and sideshow.
I snagged one off Evilbay for $40. Had to wait over a month for it to make its way from China, but it was well worth it. For what it costs, the Crazy Toys Superman is a great buy. Very happy with it.
I'm trying to remove its boots, are they removable? I will take out jus this costume and put it on and m33 flexible body.
Could you do a tutorial on how to swap the boots

The appropriate body is a M34 Phicen size wise.
Sideshow is coming out with a new Superman this summer
Overall, better than the Batman KO, I guess? It's pretty depressing that the Sideshow snapped for you (and others!). For what you paid for it, that really sucks.
I've never really been able to get on-board with that head; I don't like the size and frankly, not a fan of the sculpt/expression. I'm tempted to find a Chris Reeve head and put it on a Sideshow body though. Or maybe I should just track down a big NECA Supes. :)

No worries! If I have a video that a subscriber has asked for if I can get it up on the channel that’s a good thing. It lets you know I’m actually listening. 👍 The brittleness of Sideshow joints is definitely something of a shame indeed. The head wasn’t placed quite right on the custom figure for the video. It’s seated better now. I also defaulted back to the cheerful expression. I just like it better. I thought about the 14” NECA Supes too but don’t like the eyes. I bet the Hot Toys Reeve head would look good though. I can get one for around $30 on eBay.

How about using a Ganghood 1.0 body with the CT outfit?
You know, some videos make this dude look crazy(heh)skinny, but he doesn't look too bad in this one. I mean, he's not up to the standard of Sideshow, obviously, but he'd work well enough for a 1/6 scale Superman. I'd definitely have to fix that cape, though.
awesome review as always brad....i really look forward to your videos.....i got the side show superman and it broke on me also....these guys sale these things at hot toys prices with out hot toys quality ....i got the crazy toys supes and for the price point it's not that bad i removed the costume and added some leg pads to make the legs look bigger and got some less diaperish looking undies and painted the belt buckle gold and it looks pretty good....still gotta find a body for the sideshow supes the phicen body looks good but out of my price range .....may get that kuastik plastik muscle body
Brad how do you feel that they are bringing back Superman's trunks in the comics? I would have preferred it they put like a red rectangle or just red marking their instead of full on trunks. I think for action comics 1000 they would be perfect but otherwise it is hindering superman from progressing.
The trunks help balance his costume segmentation and color scheme, and they emphasize his physique to give off a strong man vibe. Also, what "progression" are they preventing? Superman progressed for 73 years before they removed them, so they're not an issue in-story.
I do wish they'd remove the metal cuffs, though. They clash with the aesthetic of the rest of the outfit.
Ben_ToaofFire But the last costume was perfect. The Reborn suit was perfect it looked classic and modern. I feel the trunks are a step back design wise.
Didn't feel that way to me. His last costume honestly just felt like a more generic version of his original Rebirth costume, which I actually liked since it redid the color segmentation, rather than just taking away a crucial element of it, and half-heartedly trying to cover it up. I think it's just the Bionicle Mocist in me that's bothered by this stuff, and tbh, I think I'm gonna have to make a video to properly lay everything out, but for now, I'm just gonna have to let it go.
Ben_ToaofFire fair enough. I just always felt the trunks were outdated and that there was a way to remove them while still keeping the classic look. The Reborn suit did that for me.

Clearly you feel I should have paid more attention to articulation. This is pretty much the only video without an articulation segment on my entire channel. It's not that I forgot but rather because I just wasn't that concerned with it. This wasn't a basic protocol action figure review for me. There is a segment near the end that clearly shows the body without the suit and you can get a pretty good idea about the articulation from that. There may be another video showcasing this copycat Superman which will go into the articulation more if that's what you are hoping to see.
The side show is not a very well made figure itself. In many ways I think the knockoff is actually much better.
If the body was bigger and more muscular I could agree with you because it does seem a bit former built. The limbs all click into place and I like the feature too.

Giddy Not a whole lot. I bought this for the parts. Others will pick this up hoping it’s a reasonable substitution for the real thing. This video is help people and to show folks it’s not.

i will never understand how knock-off toy companies are allowed to use images of licensed, top quality toys from reputable, high-end toy companies. It's just like cheap clone dolls using Barbie doll photography and fonts for their packaging.

Sideshow bodies are terrible cheap and break easily
You never showed any articulation in the waist or the legs or needs for articulation you never did that so I have to give you a thumbs down for this review
