This is where trash was burned and was considered cursed because of the horrific acts of burning children in the fire. When Jesus warned of being cast into Gehenna (NOT hell, as some translations say), everyone hearing him knew exactly what he was referring to. There is no hell. God does not burn his children for all eternity as the churches have taught, a thing he abhorred and detested.
