    You know, Mikhail had a good reason to be sad. He realized his invention would be the deaths of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people due to its simplicity and reliability. It's why AKs are still found in modern conflict zones, still being used, hell, sometimes by both sides in the conflict.

      By modern standards that’s the case
      But back then soviets we’re really worried that soldiers would lose magazines (since they’re metal & metal doesn’t grow on trees)
      A good example where we can see that is the SVT (came before & had a box magazine) and the SKS (came later and had an internal magazine)

    • @matthewblackwood9653
      @matthewblackwood9653 2 місяці тому +5

      @@Dawn.tless. Also, magazines weren't easy to make universal initially. They had to be fitted to the specific gun. The magazines you were issued were for THAT GUN. They probably wouldn't fit properly in another one. So that was a massive pain. Hence why losing one was a really big deal. You'd have to get a new magazine custom fitted and at the front you likely didn't have somebody capable of doing that since it was done at the factory.

    Fun fact! The fallout 4 assault rifle IS an assault rifle, it has a detachable box mag chambered in an intermediate round and it is select fire, technically, therefore, it is an assault rifle, also if you say that it doesn’t look like one, nor does the HK G11, but the G11 is an assault rifle

      People aren't complaining whether or not by technicalities is it a Assault Rifle.
