    The blunt tip knives are for cutting yourself free. Say you go overboard and end up all wrapped up in your anchor line, fishing line, or whatever, and you can’t get free. You can cut yourself free without stabbing yourself. Very important.

      That's a good point. I also realized later on that they are good for inflatables since if you drop them they won't pop a tube...

    A complete review......thanks! LL Bean just started carrying this PFD. Where did you purchase the NRS knife?

      That’s cool more places are carrying it since it’s a great PFD. Got the knife from the NRS website. They shipped it pretty fast and it comes in either black or green with a pointed or blunt tip www.nrs.com/product/47311.01/nrs-neko-knife

    0:10 There are little pockets to tuck in the shoulder strap ends. Gives it a cleaner look 😜

    Thanks for the vid! I tried to install my NRS pilot knife on my Chinook PFD. It seems to me it's not an easy job, as everything is so so tight. I guess once installed, it is probably impossible to take sheath off the PFD. Any advice? Thank you!

      Yeah it’s pretty tough to get on. Once it’s on it’s very sturdy, which makes removing the knife with one hand feel secure. When I installed it I removed the knife from the sheath and used a flat head screw driver that I fed through the top of the attachment point. That helped open things up so I could feed the sheath through the bottom and follow the flathead out the top. Hope that helps and glad you liked the vid.

    I'm 5.7 180, can you still wear a heavy jacket with xs/m or should i got larg/xl. I fish in cold weather and was wondering if the small one fits with a heavy Carhart jacket.

      I'm 5'8 180lbs and I wear my XS/M with heavier KUIU jackets a lot. The KUIU jackets are probably not as thick as a Carhart one, but the PFD is pretty adjustable so I doubt you would have any problems.

    Is it comfortable on hot days?

      I've worn this on 90+ days and have been pretty comfortable. The mesh lower back portion helps things breath.

    Will it flip you on your back if you're unconscious?

    • @UnprofessionalOutdoors
      @UnprofessionalOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      I've never tried it, but I don't think so since it's a Type III PFD. If you want something that will flip you if you're unconscious you'll want either a Type I or a Type II, which will of course add more bulk.

    This is a nice jacket. But to me seems like the pockets seems like it could be in the way of fishing and a bit bulky

    • @UnprofessionalOutdoors
      @UnprofessionalOutdoors  3 роки тому +1

      I haven't found the pockets to be too bulky, but I also don't have them super loaded. Could see that potentially being a problem depending on how much you put in them. Do you have a jacket you recommend? Nice channel btw, just subbed.

      @@UnprofessionalOutdoors hey! thank you for the sub!. Actually I've been borrowing my cousin kayak and his Geer. He has 3 hobie kayak and yeah lol I'm in the market of suiting up for off Shore fishing. I was looking at Raku jacket. And the Zen jacket. Do I need the extra accessories of Tackle pockets. Or should I just have safety and the necessities like phone wallet keys.

      @UnprofessionalOutdoors  3 роки тому +1

      @@Yakplanet_tv nice! I’m always a fan of having access to gear. The Raku’s look nice. Think they’re pretty close to the Chinook, but with a full back.

    • @Yakplanet_tv
      @Yakplanet_tv 3 роки тому +1

      @@UnprofessionalOutdoors out of the two. Raku has a nice touch. Conveinent for holding essential items. More storage as it claims. But the zen looks more like. "Here have fun be safe if they need help I got you", Type of life jacket. I think I will try them out and see what I like better. 👍 thanks for the input.
