    Jay what I am so impressed with your video content is you can’t stress enough how important for first time anglers who want to enjoy kayak fishing is to always, always wear your PDF! Fishing should be enjoyed for a lifetime why not do it correctly the first time instead of the last time!❤ you got nothing but love for your channel and content. I can’t wait to see you in a tournament soon!!!

    Learned a lot from you. Started bass fishing and definitely picked up a couple tips. I’m loving it now.

    Great video brother! I have a Magellan PFD that’s been great for me. Super comfortable and plenty of pockets.

    I have the same PFD. It can be dangerous if used in saltwater. The main front zipper has not been a problem. But the pockets would not unzip. The saltwater when dried after a number of outings clogged my zipper tracks. I decided to really clean the entire PFD using a scrub brush and some Dawn detergent. The PFD looks great now. But the zipper was still sticky. So i used a toothbrush and Dawn. It works great now. Now if an emergency occurs it opens easily and I check it regularly. If you store important gear in your pockets be sure you have access.

      Never had this issue but I also never fish salt. thank you for bringing this up. Huge consideration for zippered pfds.

    I love the NRS Chinook. The best and most comfortable investment I've made other than my kayak. It's a bit warm in the summer but I'd prefer going home after a day on the water too. 😊

    I have one too. In saltwater the zippers can be encrusted with salt and not work. This is a problem in an emergency. I recommend cleaning the PFD frequently and I use a toothbrush to brush my zippers.

    NRS Chinook is what I use for both fresh and inshore salt water. No complaints. Under $100 on Amazon btw.

    Having the high back on the PFD is so clever, I would hate to be fishing having to be hunched over the whole time!

      For sure! The key is comfort. If you’re not comfortable, you won’t wear it.

    Thanks for the video. What are you thoughts for traditional PFD that are decent in the heat vice the automatics?

    • @BeardedDadFishing
      @BeardedDadFishing  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for watching brother!
      Both are good options. The upside of traditional PFDs that don’t need to inflate are 1. There’s no parts to fail 2. Lots of Storage 3. Typically brighter and more visible
      That said, automatics have their place which is why I use mine in the summer. It’s super comfortable and lightweight.

    Some cheap PFD’s may say Coast Guard approved but they are not.Beware what you wear! And try it out in the water. See how it keeps you afloat. I took a cold water survival course and learned a lot.

    That knife looks like it would get tangled on everything while fishing. Is there a reason you didn’t put it on the top left spot that it was designed for?

    • @BeardedDadFishing
      @BeardedDadFishing  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes sir that knife is too long for that other spot. Doesn’t get tangled much though.
      I’ll be upgrading to the NRS soon.

      @@BeardedDadFishingI have the NRS knife on the left of my Chinook. It extends down to the pocket. Not ideal at all. Also the rubberish loops don’t keep it snug.
