According to Portal: Desolation's ModDB page this is called the Industrial style
I think the devs said it's defined as being built on the inside of tall and deep caves, with it being very open, having many "workplace areas" visible, and I think having no moving panels
This style is very similar to Desolation, but it's still not quite the same, it's hard to describe but the few bits of Desolation we've been teased with have some unique about the style different to what makes this maps style unique.
I probably did an awful job of writing that but yeah it is very similar but not quite :D

I absolutely love this style. It's like a mix of old and new aperture and it's just so pretty to look at. I believe it's called industrial aperture but I'm not 100% sure.
Yeah industrial seems to work well for calling this style, it gets compared to the bits of Desolation we have been teased with quite a lot but it's still different somehow, this does have the "coldness" of industrial.

Looks like it's hiding the fact that it is abandoned and broken with these fancy materials, really creative way of making maps
i can see what you mean, it's kind of like Aperture desperately trying to fit more chambers in anywhere it can, and yeah the style has a really unique vibe to it compared to the more conventional Aperture spaces we are used to.

The style is derivative of the aesthetic of the chamber "Chain" shown in the Desolation teaser video. (and the rest of the showcased mod images)
I think people must be getting desperate for Desolation to be released, been seeing quite a few maps recommended with this kind of aesthetic lately :D

Wow this is the first map you are playing that I have actually played myself. My interpretation of this style is that they had too many "unused/transitional" spaces between individual components so they decided to build tests there
Yeah i agree with your interpretation, it's kind of like Aperture started adding more and more testing literally anywhere they could fit more in, works well with Aperture seemingly being never ending.

0:28 - Technically, it's an interpretation of Desolation's "Industrial" style, but importantly, it's not the _actual_ Desolation Industrial style
2:12 - Indeed, and I think calling this style "MrRogers' Divide" would be more accurate :P

This map, and "Transfer" have both gotten a lot of comments about how it looks like Desolation, it does look like the teased bits in the Desolation trailers, but yeah you're right, they are quite different, i think people are getting desperate for Desolation to be released, there's more maps with this kind of style coming out lately.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't MrRogers part of the Desolation Devs?

i love the lighting in this style of map, i can only imagine the amount of hammer work it must take to get it looking so good and just right like this.

Has Desolation not been released yet? The teasers have been out for quite a while now. "Portal-gun arm"!
Desolation is still in development, the Devs are working hard on it but taking there time to really make it great :D

I personally call it the "cave" style or mid-aperture or somthing, i think its just that the test chamber is not finished.

I think Divide was the first map i've seen with the aesthetic, i think (might be wrong) MrRogers is one of the people working on Desolation.

The name is "old aperture" because it's also the the astetic of ch6 and ch7 in portal 2
no, old aperture has a much different style which is a lot more old fashioned and rough while this is the industrial style from the upcoming mod “desolation”
i'd have to agree with @doctorcreeps2169 "old aperture" to me is more like the 1950s style chambers and the science spheres, this style feels much more modern, it is similar to the look of the bits of Desolations we have been teased with but Desolation is a bit different still. some people have said it's like the Tartaros 09 parts of portal2 but it's still not quite that
