I don't know what I did but part way through making the chamber the elevator stopped working, whenever I run the map I just spawn in an empty void

This helped me alot! But i have a question. How do i make it spawn without the portal Gun?
You can put the portal gun item in the elevator if you want
For me it spawns it with the gun but okay
create a logic_script and name it failsafe_transition_script

how would i go about disabling the sound from the elevator room when the player leaves it? I'm assuming you'd just use a trigger but I'm not sure how you would target the sound coming from the elevator room...
I believe there's a soundscape in the elevator that you have to disable, forgot what it was though.
I think I've found a solution to my problem that I have not tested yet. So first I copied the soundscapes from the instance into my map, then I customized the instance and deleted the soundscapes, then I moved the soundscapes that I copied into my map to where they would be placed in the instance, so then I can easily disable them with a trigger. (I'm very new to hammer editor, so if there would've been an easier way for me to do this I apologize. I do know about func_instance_io_proxy's and what not but I'm still unsure how to use them.)
Actually, I think I found a reason why this might not work, one of the soundscapes is attached to the elevator to move up with it, so I don't think my solution would work...
Found out that triggering another soundscape disables all other soundscapes, so I was able to have a soundscape that didnt have a sound file attached to mute the other soundscapes basically. So, problem fixed :)

I have 1 problem.... I spawn WITH a portal_gun... i do not want that! (no my map has no "sp_" in its name) Please help!
I haven't used hammer in ages at this point but I believe you can place a trigger_weapon_strip inside of the elevator where the player spawns to get rid of the portal gun
