    The new normal
    Stadium build: $3 billion
    Stadium life: 20 years
    Who pays for it: taxpayers
Net worth of the team playing there: $1.5 billion or greater.
If the owners want a new stadium, they should pay for ALL of it, not the taxpayer.

  • @kevinbergin9971

    No!
First, they own half of Metlife and the Giants have no reason to buy them out.
Second, I recall when the Personal Seat Licenses were being sold the Jets did not sell all of theirs so they probably have a mortgage still outstanding in New Jersey.
Third, they draw almost a full-house on game day; the billion dollars for a new stadium might better be placed in Mr Johnson's bank account.
Fourth, this is a relatively new building with mostly acceptable amenities.
Finally, came you please post any articles that suggest this is in the process of happening?

Hudson yards was the old plan (which is a bad plan, there is too much on Manhattan for travel to Midtown to be a good idea). This new plan is speculation that the Mets would help them build a stadium in Willets Point (which is a bad confluence of traffic surrounded by neighborhoods who generally dont watch football). A brooklyn location along the Belt would also be hard to sell.

International soccer games, concerts, conventions, Super Bowls.
Imagine a Super Bowl in New York, because of the dome, every decade. National conventions more and more frequent. It would be THE destination for live concerts, where performers would conclude a tour with a massive show.
And the Jets would have a home of their own, the same as 29 other teams.
There could be some public funding, but this would be a venue that instead of sitting idle like so many stadiums, would make money$$$.

I enjoyed this video even though it’s somewhat speculative. I believe there is some truth to this and as a Jets fan who lives on Long Island I would be very happy to only have to drive 45 minutes to a game rather than two hours and then four hours coming home

I was there for a concert, and frankly I don't have a problem with the facility. Getting out of the parking out is a wholesale disaster that needs to be fixed.

It was better in the Giants days. Building that American Nightmare screwed it all up.

If they want to build a new stadium then build it on the old Nassau Coliseum site, convenient to parkways and centrally located for Queens and Long Island residents.

Good riddance it’s GIANT STADIUM. Still liked the old stadium better
