Been saying that for the last 10 years. All these teams are being owned by mega wealthy owners and companies or trusts. They can all fund their own dam^ buildings.
the reason why the teams get public funding is because the teams aren’t the only ones benefiting from the stadiums. The Jets and Giants are 50/50 owners in MetLife stadium. Both teams have the same ability to opt out, but if one team chooses to opt out, it locks the other team into remaining in the stadium for the rest of the lease. As others have mentioned, the site the Jets contemplated in the 2000's had no space for parking/tailgating, and has been partially developed and turned into Hudson Yards. There isn't the space there for a modern football stadium anymore, much less what was originally envisioned 20 years ago. And I have no clue where else they could go.
Well maybe the Jets and Giants could move out on Long Island, or north of the city -- at least that way they'd once again be New YORK teams (instead of New JERSEY teams). I agree football in a dome is isn’t too bad I’m from Syracuse I would definitely love for Syracuse to have an outdoor football stadium I do like the dome not a huge fan of baseball in a dome at all I have a feeling the new rfk stadium will have a dome or retractable roof I would love a new rfk stadium I think we will see one in another 5 five years & fedex field will be a concrete slab in 10 years
Building a separate stadium for the Jets would be an egregious waste of money. Even when NFL stadiums host other events like the Final Four or WWE, they still tend to be significantly underutilized. Having two football teams share the same stadium helps make a stadium a better investment return.
Out here near Arlington heights would be very convenient travel wise if you coming from city. You have the interstate and metra train station within walking distance of potential stadium.
One extra tidbit on Arrowhead Stadium: the concrete and rebar it was built out of were only rated to last 50 years, so it's quickly reaching its endpoint. At the very least, every piece of concrete will have to be replaced.
"IF" that's true about a 50 year concrete and rebar rating at Arrowhead Stadium, it's ALREADY past its replacement time (I believe Arrowhead opened for the 1972 season). The Chiefs better hope a catastrophic building collapse doesn't occur while fans are in attendance and the stadium is shaking ... or I can imagine a MASSIVE class-action lawsit by injured fans (and the estates of deceased fans) will soon follow. The Chiefs' combined payroll wouldn't be able to pay that judgment.
Buffalo had to relocate 1 game due to snow in recent history and delay 1 playoff game. A dome would not fix this issue, the decisions are made because of impossible travel conditions
Grand Rapids is too small of a city to get an NFL franchise and even if they did, there would still be more support for the Detroit Lions because they’ve been in Michigan for a long time.
If you look at the new Nissan stadium it’s very similar to the mls Nashville SC stadium Geodis Park. I like the closeness in design, I’m not a Tennessee person but it’s nice that the sports teams share colors and style.
At least twelve people who attended the Kansas City vs. Miami playoff game on January 13, 2024, had to have fingers or toes amputated due to frostbite. No home field advantage is worth making your fans suffer through that. Putting a domed stadium in cold weather cities makes all the sense in the world.
Paycor Stadium is currently undergoing some minor renovations, which are mostly seating and access upgrades. The lease expires in 2026, and it's unlikely a new stadium is built at that time. Major bridge construction has started right next to the stadium, leaving little available space to build.
This guy said the Soldier Field renovation of the "early 2000's" was over a billion dollars. That's not accurate at all. The final cost was $632 million.
15:13 the Jets Manhattan stadium was not proposed in 2007, it was proposed way earlier than that because guess what dummy, Public position caused the stadium to be canceled in 2005 and the vote to host the Olympics was held in July 2007 in which they finished fourth, beating only Moscow.
Im surprised all NFL teams don't just go with a dome or at least a retractable roof. Not only does that give you the option to leave it open for the cities that like the elements, but it also eliminates having to postpone or cancel games due to lighting in the area and also gives them the ability to host a super bowl. I think it would be cool if the super bowl took turns being hosted in all 32 cities on a rotation instead of the same old warm city areas every year.
Dude your videos always ALWAYS Gets a Thumbs Up and shared from me. Love your channel and all that you do for obsessed fans of Stadiums like myself lol. Keep up the hard work. We appreciate all that you do. A+++++
Ok, a few things on the Bills stadium. 1) Multiple games a year being moved due to snow, a dome doesnt change this. Those games are cancelled because the entire state is in a state of emergency and its not safe or physically not possible for people to travel to the stadium. A dome on the stadium doesnt fix the geographic location of western NY. Maybe global warming gets us there. Theyd be better off spending the dome money on expanding the metro line to Orchard Park and running trains to the stadium for snow days to safely move people 2) A dome was going to cost an extra $1 billion to add to their designs. The state didnt want to pay for it. The team didnt want to pay for it. The fans dont want to pay for it. And half the fans dont want it, so whats the point of having a dome? 3) Studies done on domed stadiums show that they attract NO increase in venue use over non-domed stadiums. is 1 monster jam event or a band championship worth a billion dollars? no. So again, no point in the dome
I'd like to see you do a video on possible NFL quality Stadiums being proposed to be built in cities without a team, in hopes of luring one? Salt Lake City, Oakland, San Antonio/Austin all come to mind.
If I wanted a new stadium in Tampa, build something along the lines of something similar to old Tampa Stadium but with a roof. And of course don't forget the ship.
The NFL should build a stadium in the biggest city that doesn’t have a team. Build it as a dome stadium with 100,000 seats and play the Super Bowl every year there.
Like it or not, domed stadiums (some with sliding roofs) will be built in the Northeast and Midwest cold weather cities like New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Kansas City. There's just too much money to be made not to do so.
Anyone notice that there are not a lot of domed stadiums in the north? Seattle, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Buffalo, NYC, and New England all play open air.
NFL owners want to maximize profits with the competition of streaming and viewing games from home. 8/9 home games with a possible 1/2 more for the postseason just doesn't cut it in 2024. With 60% of profits coming from ticket sales, owners want to monkey-branch per se and widen their horizons. With a roof, the stadiums would be eligible to host not only the Super Bowl, but also the Final Four, World Cup, Olympics, Wrestle Mania, and so on - all year round. No amount of weather barrier to worry about. They see what happened in cold weather cities like Indianapolis and Minneapolis and want a piece of the pie also.
"Your not going to leave the stadium after just 20 years" Yet how many of these stadiums are only about 30 years old. Especially those built in the 90s which are among the more decrepit like Carolina and Jacksonville and other florida stadiums. Despite how old constructions last longer due to lacking modern advents, Seems that the life expectancy of a stadium is about 30 years. As for cold weather I think more northern teams should opt for overhangs over domes. You only really need to protect the stands from snow accumulation. The field can easily be cleaned with machines, but the stands are far more delicate and require more man power. Worrying about "hosting other events" should not be the concern. Cause not every city justifies having a superbowl hosting arena cause those "other events" dont come with as much frequency or size to justify an oversized domed stadium project.
Years ago as a Browns fan I was deadset against any dome. After 6-7 years of kinda THE worst weather imaginable, I am over it. Build the dome. The Brookpark location is honestly amazing, not a fan of the current location, it's impossible to get to .
I'm not a fan of Brookpark. There's nothing over there but the airport and factories. They'd have to build more than just a stadium to make it attractive.
I'm surprised to not hear at all a Commanders relocation to Virginia Beach. The Metro population is over 1.7 million it could certainly support a franchise
Virginia Beach would instantly be the second-smallest NFL metro, only ahead of Buffalo. DC is one of the largest metros in the nation, and also the capital. No way in a million years Norfolk/Virginia Beach gets the Commanders. I would put the Hampton Roads metro well behind others that are lacking NFL teams like Austin, Salt Lake, or even OKC.
Quick thing about the Bills and "It seems like one game a year is being postponed"... there are no hotels within walking distance of the site, so a roof would do _nothing_ to fix that. They would _prefer_ people in the stands but let's be honest, 2020 proved they don't need them completely... but still, seriously, you need at least both teams, the officials and at least one cameraman to make it to the stadium. So that's not a factor, and they had to figure out if there's anything that would be worth a roof otherwise. Not enough hotels for a Super Bowl, it's warm enough in April for WrestleMania (and you _know_ they're never getting anything bigger than a SummerSlam anyway), what else is there? And they're building the stadium as its own windbreak anyway, which, truth be told, was the most brutal part of that game in December I was at.
Hey ginger can you do a viedo of what you think would make a great stadium for pitt i was thinking of a indoor stadium etc where it can be multi use with a retractable roof incase of bad weather for pitt games aswell for Steelers games or pirates but pitt would own the stadium just wanna here your thoughts.
As a fan of Washington, to add to the current situation. They might be changing their name again. But may have found a location. They plan on building at the RFK sight. The wizards and capitals are moving to VA and congress gave RFK rights to DC. So that seems to be the likely situation for Washington. It’s a lot of real estate, so they have room to build a huge complex.
The Brown’s needing a new stadium is ridiculous!!! And a dome is more ridiculous!!! Why does Tennessee need a dome??? Ridiculous again!!! These owners have the money to build their own stadium!!!
Being a long time Jets fan and having followed NYCFC's stadium project I really do not see the Jets being able to build their own stadium. Getting anything done like that is insanely difficult. I know Woody Johnson is dead set on having it inside the city. Land that size is near impossible to find. Only way I could possibly see it happening is if one of the horse racing tracks (Aqueduct or Yonkers right outside of city limits) decides to shut down and sell their land. Even then the stadium site would be very far from 1 Jets Drive in New Jersey.
Idk how I feel about that KC rendering. Looked kinda weird. Their already going to start renovations on arrowhead starting this year, 2024-2026 for the World Cup. With royals getting a new stadium there is a chance the chiefs get a sliding/retractable roof on like rails. That’s what the very first idea was for arrowhead way back before it was built. Arrowhead is the third oldest stadium in the NFL and it has never hosted a Super Bowl. The only way I see them hosting one is to have a retractable roof.
Cities should not be footing the bill for these stadiums if they want a new stadium they can pay for it themselves.

Naw some places are too cold for no domes
I agree football in a dome is isn’t too bad I’m from Syracuse I would definitely love for Syracuse to have an outdoor football stadium I do like the dome not a huge fan of baseball in a dome at all I have a feeling the new rfk stadium will have a dome or retractable roof I would love a new rfk stadium I think we will see one in another 5 five years & fedex field will be a concrete slab in 10 years
Get with the times 🤣
Building a separate stadium for the Jets would be an egregious waste of money. Even when NFL stadiums host other events like the Final Four or WWE, they still tend to be significantly underutilized. Having two football teams share the same stadium helps make a stadium a better investment return.
Your voice is beyond MONOTONOUS
I thought he was tryn to be Mel Kiper 😂
And they didn't have the money for a dome add another 750 Mill easy.
Sad thing is the the new Bill stadium is using Federal dollars. Why should other states pay for a stadium for Buffalo.
Utah, St. Louis, Oklahoma, Boise, Hawaii, and Grand Rapids would love to get an NFL team.
Grand Rapids is too small of a city to get an NFL franchise and even if they did, there would still be more support for the Detroit Lions because they’ve been in Michigan for a long time.
No we don't STL
Good voice. Nice cadence. So lacking in football youtubers. Thank you.
This guy said the Soldier Field renovation of the "early 2000's" was over a billion dollars.
That's not accurate at all. The final cost was $632 million.
Also said that the jag stadium was decrepit 😅
@@Jaggedcoast2coastdecrepit
15:13 the Jets Manhattan stadium was not proposed in 2007, it was proposed way earlier than that because guess what dummy, Public position caused the stadium to be canceled in 2005 and the vote to host the Olympics was held in July 2007 in which they finished fourth, beating only Moscow.
Yea he said FSU plays at Raymond James too
Maybe he had knowledge of the debt service on top of the principal.
DC is looking to re-use the old RFK site
for the Commanders
Be nice to have Final 4, Wrestlemanias, concerts all year round, and a Super Bowl in Buffalo.
Some cities aren't built for hosting a superbowl. There's a lot of criteria
Dude your videos always ALWAYS Gets a Thumbs Up and shared from me. Love your channel and all that you do for obsessed fans of Stadiums like myself lol. Keep up the hard work. We appreciate all that you do. A+++++
New Nissan stadium is set to open 2027 nfl season groundbreaking is the 29th this month
Arrowhead/Kaufman already has a two foundations for a roof that was going to roll between the two stadiums.
Baltimore needs one of those new looking sleek stadiums
Riding Waves near the stadium is crazy
Nothing comes close to SoFi in Inglewood, Ca. That stadium is beyond amazing
Give up on Oakland
If I wanted a new stadium in Tampa, build something along the lines of something similar to old Tampa Stadium but with a roof. And of course don't forget the ship.
nissan stadium looks like a mega mansion
The NFL should build a stadium in the biggest city that doesn’t have a team. Build it as a dome stadium with 100,000 seats and play the Super Bowl every year there.
Sounds dumb
You mean Austin?
Transluscent roofs are the thing, i see
cool video, i love this
Like it or not, domed stadiums (some with sliding roofs) will be built in the Northeast and Midwest cold weather cities like New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Kansas City. There's just too much money to be made not to do so.
Screw any team asking for public funding.
So-Fi Stadium in Inglewood was $5+ Billion and Clippers Intuit Dome $2 Billion- both PRIVATELY Funded!
Jags fans are gonna happy thats lit
Anyone notice that there are not a lot of domed stadiums in the north? Seattle, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Buffalo, NYC, and New England all play open air.
The heat is the number one variable that will have an adverse effect to an athletes proformance. They can deal with the cold.
Chicago also
Don’t forget Green Bay. However it’s fair to say that Cleveland, Chicago and Washington DC will get domed stadiums.
So does Chicago and Green Bay.
"Your not going to leave the stadium after just 20 years"
Yet how many of these stadiums are only about 30 years old.
Pretty sure the Falcons were only at the Georgia Dome for around 24 years as well
The Rams were only at the Dome in St. Louis for 20 years. That stadium is only 29 years old right now.
@@lawrencedaniels8988 it would get built up FAST. I mean what's really around the stadium now?
@@SquareTableDegenerates Well pal, looks like you got your wish. I hope you’re happy. ☹️
@@Mrcharles. oh I am happy sir.
It’s usually cheaper to build a new stadium then remodel one
Bro thinks the only possibility for a new stadium is a translucent roof. Lost count of how many times I heard that this video
In addition, I do love the design of the new Everbank stadium. I just hope we keep the pool and add other features never seen in a stadium.
I say new Highmark stadium should have a retractable roof that would be perfect tbh
EA should add more stadiums to Madden...or be able to actually have renovation add roofs or lights etc. Maybe create one would be nice
Bengals have been adding renovations to the stadium throughout the years.
The JETS are moving back to Queens N.Y. next to NY Mets Stadium
The developers for the Bears stadium are the same developers that built Allegiant Stadium in Vegas.
Thanks Ricky! /s
You completely dropped the ball on the Broncos New Stadium
Overhangs on great lakes stadiums suck unless the Sun is shining on your side of the stadium lol
I think renovations should be the critical step. It is wasteful to just demolish a building.
Had I been the Jets I would be building a new dome stadium on Long Island around the 1964 Worlds Fair Grounds.
We live in NY. We don't need a roof!!
Huge eagles fan, absolutely hate the commanders… but that stadium is so freaking cool
The Giants and Jets both have the same agreement with the 5 year lease not only the Jets
No public funding!
As a Browns fan, I hope they build the new giant stadium.
The one in Brookpark looks gorgeous
Jags got the funding we getting a new stadium YES I can't wait gonna be awesome
I believe Arrowhead is getting some kind of renovation as KC hosting a World Cup match in 2026.
Bro every major city in the US is
Wonder what the update to Jacksonville stadium will do for the UGA Bulldogs and Fl Gators game?
A SuperBowl in Cleveland
this guy really likes the word translucent, if this was a drinking game, I also would be not just drunk, but babbling incoherently like this guy.
14:40 That’s not fair how come the Jets are getting a new stadium but not the Giants.
Met Life is terrible, the old Giant stadium was a much better stadium
Would a translucent dome stadium next to an airport have some of the same problems as Levi's Stadium?
