Hey, I had a banana fail that may fit with your dip. I tried to use my food processor slicer disc to prep a bunch of bananas (was hoping they were firm enough) and ended up with very roughly mashed bananas. I spread the “glob” out on the trays about 1/4” thick and it came out just like the bark you were hoping for….. one persons fail is another persons answer, never stop sharing! Now I have a great dip to use with my, what I can now call, banana bark. 😆
Wow, this really hit home! It’s so true-failure only happens when we stop trying. Every setback is just a setup for a comeback. Excited to keep moving forward and making progress in 2025!"
Brooke. Just got your Christmas card today. You have a beautiful family. We enjoy your videos very much. Best wishes for a very happy new year from the beautiful Mountains of North Georgia.
I think you have a shot at growing as you want to. Year 3 for any small business that you’re actively growing and scaling up can be magical. Goals in place? Go get ‘em!
I love all the mess ups and rerailed meals. I love the education i recieve from your channel, and I love the scenery of Alaska you show. Maybe next year I can get a freeze dryer maybe the next. But we have to save for a while after we move, but still looking for our new home. So I'm learning before I get it. 😊❤
I recently freeze dried bananas. I thought they are very good, but my husband just couldn't stop eating them. He had me vacuum seal them so they were less temptation!
Everyday is a group of successes and failures, that is how we learn. Over coming those failures is success and goal make one day at a time. We learn with you. You go girl
Hey, Brooke! I found those white plastic bins that you like so much at the Target in Tucson Arizona. They are still around! I would have bought them to send to you but I didn't think they'd fit in my luggage to come back home to Washington. 💼
I just know my hubby would love that dip so I'll definitely give that a try. I've never tried greek yogurt drops as I had seen people say they were chalky. But greek yogurt mixed with sour cream works as great mayo substitute for some freeze dried recipes and chalkiness isn't a problem.
Try adding gelatin to your yogurt. Gelatin balls turn hard and crunchy. It should make it more stable and ‘crackery’ without adding more sugar. Maybe also just blend your yogurt/banana mix into a powder and make smoothies out of it. Not a fail, just a new opportunity to use your freeze dryer. Haha…need to watch the whole thing. Love your videos.
@@kristinmcglothen9653 why didn’t I think to powder it down then all my trays would have fit in my jar. Thank you!!! And thx for the tip on the gelatin I’ll have to try that!
One good way to keep your bananas from turning. 50/50 ratio Lemon Juice(bottle juice. Fine) and water. Place bananas in as you cut in solution and make sure they all have at least 3-5 mins in solution. I use a strainer type kitchen utensil to remove and put straight to tray. I think you will be happy with the results. Let me know if you try it out?? I really enjoy your videos!!
I did bananas for my grandson, and he eats them all in one seating, lol Then i freeze dry strawberries for my granddaughter, and she ate them all in one seating, too😅 I love all your videos, i just can't figure out fruits, yet 😊, but I'll keep trying
Hi pineapple juice works great to prevent browning and can be frozen in ice cube trays so you can thaw a small amount at a time. I do this with all fruit juice . Have you thought about adding the protein and pb powder to the yogurt mixture and freeze drying. Maybe freeze in cubes prior to FD?
@@susanparker-heitel702 someone mentioned advice gelatin to help it stay firm - I bet that with the protien and flavors in yogurt into cubes would be good!
I have stopped making goals. That does not mean I stop doing things but I want to give myself grace and not pressure myself. In the freeze drying department I want to focus on meals since I officially decided that I don't like fd candy.
@ I purchased the part I think I need to fix it but girl I can’t get the old one OFF!!!! I spent over an hour trying and it won’t budge. I think I have a leak in the hose that goes from the drum of the machine to the drain hose connection….. :(
Try some type of binder in the yogurt. Maybe even crushed crushed vanilla wafers, tapioca powder or arrowroot. That may help with the crumbling. Won't hurt to try. Hood job girl.
I just did some Chobani brand yogurt drops, and it was a total fail. I wanted to scream into the video and tell you it's not gonna work! Yogurt turns into powder, and it is so dry it almost chokes you while you're eating it even in a little drops I wish I knew what I could add to it to make it. not so powdery. Someone mentioned adding gelatin to it, but I wouldn't know how much. Also, to do bananas, slice them and put them on cookie sheets and freeze them. No need to dip into anything because once they go to the freezer, they do not turn brown at all then scrape them off and put them in a Ziploc bag then every time you need bananas, you got them frozen and they're very white.
Are y’all permanently in Alaska, or is it a “temporary” assignment? Just curious….. I moved ten times in nine years in my younger days. All in SE United States. NOT FUN! Career successes aren’t always measured in the right way! Wish I had those years to do over again! The hubby I followed and dedicated myself to his career later decided he’d rather have someone else. Bless her! Hope you can be wherever you are happy.
I think your goal may be a little unrealistic. I had to check out Brian’s channel before commenting on this. Yes, he has over 214k subscribers, but his channel has been on YT for 7 years. I think you said 2 years and less than 18k, which is pretty much what I see for the average freeze drying channel count. Brian (I don’t like him, he never smiles), covers way more than things to freeze dry; he has his company, apparently is on several platforms, has 3 or more FD’ers of various sizes (HR gave him at least one), he’s on the HR website, his wife helps run everything… you’re just you (and squirrelly kids). I hope you’re able to achieve that goal. Can you increase how often you post? Would you give up substitute teaching and spend more time on making videos? I’m not suggesting you do, just things to consider. I read that Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) halts the breakdown of the enzymes that cause browning. I suggest using that instead of vinegar, lemon juice, or other temporary fixes.
Here’s to 100k subscribers 🎉
I really enjoy your videos. Thank you.

Try reversing the chips and yogurt. Put the chips down first, then put the yogurt on top. That the way we make banana pudding chips

Brooke, you could powder the yogurt separately from the bananas. Then you could reconstitute the yogurt.
Good save!!

Maybe a topper for ice cream or smoothies. Keep your chin up and don't get discouraged. 😊❤
I puréed some overly ripe banana and mixed with coconut milk. Just bagged it. The thin layer would be good as a bark.

I'm surprised the yogurt didn't work because the baby yogurt bites don't crumble. Maybe a thicker layer of yogurt would work better
