- In this short I take a look at 5 things that I didn't know about the 1987 movie, The Lost Boys.
Living In The Past is a channel about revisiting pop culture from the past. Hosted by Jeremy Scott and Devin Kleffer (along with Carl the Intern), these two (three) friends can’t help but revisit the movies and TV shows that they loved from their younger years. Come along and get a little nostalgic with us as we look back, enjoy, and ask the important question: is it still OK to like this stuff?

I'm glad that ending scene was never filmed. The ending shot of the refrigerator door closing and leaving the characters silhouetted in darkness as People Are Strange started playing again just after the grandfather delivers the best line of the movie was perfect.
Absolutely beautiful.
"One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach: all the damn vampires
It was great filmography, but the thing about Maxs’ picture from the early 1900s would’ve been interesting.
Absolutely! It's such an iconic fade out!
Agreed, so glad Star was not a boy, lol, she was lovely
R.I.P. to all the characters who died that played in this masterpiece.
lol, well they do not call it "Hollyweird" for nothing!
The dark side of Peter Pan.
@@drx1xym154- wut?
Masterpiece? That’s a s t r e t c h
@@drx1xym154 ha! Love seeing this spelling of it.
Not for nothing, did you know it is NOT the Chinese that own Hollyweird like we've all been told ? It's the same tribe , you know the tribe that's reigning over the worst time in America, right now we are being rule over by Dual Isr~~li citizens . The following US agencies are All Dual Citizens ~~
Secretary of State
Secretary Treasury
Attorney General
Homeland Security
National Intelligence Director
ATF Director
CDC heads
Chair of Economic Advisors
Chief of staff and VP's husband is also a Dual Is~li citizen.
Start watching the names of every Hollyweird movie , that same tribe of "oppressed" people are always over represented. Just like in our Gooberment. Don't look up how many Dual Citizens are in the "American" House of Representatives.
@drx1xym154 what??
R.I.P. Corey Haim
That poor kid was used and abused by Hollywood. Just awful. RIP.
To be reduced to a used up guy living with his mom in a LA weekly motel.
Touched a lot of lives unfortunately too many touched his everything all at once...
You can tell the guy was broken.
Wow! I was 7 years old when I first saw this. 37 years later, it's still arguably one of the top 5, definitely top 10 vampire movies ever made.
The best from the modern era
Best film best sound track best decade
Yup.
No disputes there. I've watched it at least 50 times
Absolutely!
Had the pleasure of working at the Boardwalk the summer they filmed the movie. I spent many nights (they filmed overnight most of the time) making my mom mad for coming home at 3am or so.. Most excellent soundtrack!
Is the boardwalk really that active?
@@The1Music2MyEars during the summers I worked there is was shoulder to shoulder, butt to Nutt, in that place... lol. There was a solid line of cars coming over from San Jose every weekend. Locals who didn't work there avoided the place like the plague at those times. I haven't been there in 20 years or more now, so I couldn't tell ya for recent years.
@@toddb3226 ah thanks for sharing your experience. The place oddly fascinates me for some reason.
@@The1Music2MyEarsbecause it looked awesome in the nighttime movie scenes, that's why it intrigues me 😊
@@The1Music2MyEarsit’s still very active in the summer. The beach is packed! Hordes of dumb teens, people coming from places like Fresno to beat the heat, cartoonishly big latino families, gangbangers, tourists… seemingly everybody.
You don’t have to beat me Michael, you just gotta keep up
I can’t beat your bike
Yesss! And 10 points to whoever knows where that phrase "originally" came from
Goonies!
@@danistar73 I actually don’t know lol
"someone" told me that it was coined by the Hells Angels. Now I have not been able to confirm this but I was HOPING someone else could lol @@jackj9816
I loved the ending when it basically revealed grandpa let his daughter an 2 grandsons move there knowing the whole time it had a bad vampire infestation😂😂😂
I read somewhere a few years ago that grandpa could also be a vampire, he goes out at night and kills animals and stuffs them, he wears sunglasses during the day, he knew about the vampires and clearly had issues with max he also made it clear that the bottles on the bottom self were his, some therories think this was blood. Pretty cool if true.
YES!! I literally been saying that for years!! Like he has to be one of them he was literally passed out in the sun in the beginning to like he didn’t make it back inside in time or something from the sun like he was drained and weak.. and plus he knew about Michael getting lucky on his date and says something like Well I guess one of us got lucky last night or something like that and I’m just like how the fuck did he knew that???
I was actually waiting for a closeup shot of him showing his fangs.
But alas.
Best movie ever.
And you hear about how the brothers died and the family breaks up in the 2nd and 3rd movies but you never hear about tye grandfather .
Also his love of the widows that he visits at night tells me that he was either a vampire or a demon of sorts that helped people pass on
He’s a werewolf or some type of hybrid.
@@alysskennedy8661 Bark at the moon 😏😈😈 in irish folklore we have shape shifters
Grandpa's ending words are epic!!
Nope it makes the entire movie stupid
@@dontrah1838that’s your opinion and opinions are like……
The fact he knew about the vampires and said nothing still seems like a dick move but still doesn’t take away from the films ending
@@dontrah1838You need help
I STILL BELIEVE
Listened to it today, so epic!!
💪
Soundtrack version is good, but I still love the original by "The Call" (Was a local Santa Cruz band..) Such a good soundtrack though!
One of my most favourite films growing up.
What age did you see this film?
No one's going to mention Tim Cappello who the storyline called the believer he has a pendant around his neck with the chain that protects him from vampires. What they don't tell you is a lot of people know about the vampires there. If you can remember the grandfather at the end. Even the Frog Brothers knew about existing vampires
Another part you probably missed is at the beginning, the lost boys walk on to the carousel in reverse order of their deaths.
Also this movie has a lot of Jim Morrison references lol
Yes, the large picture in the fallen Hotel and of course the song in the soundtrack, fit the mood, perfectly!
Lots of good songs on this sound track!
That ending would be very cool
I absolutely ADORE this movie! I got to meet Alex Winter (Marko) at Monster Mania Con. He was really nice. Kiefer's line was 6 hrs long. In the end I didn't get to meet him, but I do have David tattooed on my arm 😊
That is awesome!
Alex is a great dude.
Love this movie! Probably one of the best vampire movies yet.
this and vampires in brooklyn 💯
@@shexsolidxtrustxVampire in Brooklyn was terrible. Of all the great vampire movies ever made you say that one??
@@SurvivorBribecause it's a good movie
@@SurvivorBrithat movie was not terrible 😂😂😂
Subspecies shitted on them all. Not the after ones like 3 and 4. But the first one and second were the ones.
Figure skater Christopher Bowman doubled for one of the vampire boys. RIP Christopher.
Get a TV guide, you don't need a TV!
One of my favorite movies ever I had a big crush on Star and I remember buying this movie and watching it every day that summer !!! 😎
When I first saw this film in the theaters I was kinda expecting Grandpa to reveal that he was the true ultimate vampire in Santa Carla. And in a twist would reveal that Sam, Michael, and Lucy were actually vampires all along. Which could further explain Max’s attraction to Lucy.
I adore the fact that they aged up the cast. It sort of creates the genre of urban, modern vampires that dominated the 90s and early 2000s and even today. Not every vampire is an ancient warlord or a count, some are party animals who swarm the cities like sharks.
Sounds like the rewrites made this one of the best Vampire horror movies on the late 80s.
I absolutely Loooooove this film!
It stayed on repeat
Didn't know the tear that ran from David's face, when his hand was burnt. Was indeed a real tear, the glue that was holding his Special Effects together, the chemicals was so strong it burnt his face. He had to go to the hospital after that scene was shot.
Thats not true...Keifer said in an interview that the vampire contacts were only made to keep in just a few mins but something went wrong and urgent he gets contacts out hence thats why you see him crying from pain in real life in that scene
I love this movie. Still have the tape dvd and soundtrack. I was just playing it in my car last night. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤. Cry little Sister. And i still believe.
Saw the movie last night in Santa Cruz with my wife and kids!! What a awesome
Father’s Day gift!!
There are no coincidences. Happy Father’s Day!
I live in Santa Cruz!!! That is an amazing gift.
My favorite movie ever. I so remember when this was realsed. Begged my mom to take me to the movies to see it but no had to wait for VHS
Oh I hope you gave her grief for that
@@sahej6939 to this day!! Lol
I didn't know there are 3 lost boys films . Just watched all 3 x
Me neither! Any good or poor sequels?
@darnitthelma4247 there good , a must film to watch x
@@darnitthelma4247 I don't like sequels. They're never as good as the first. I read about the sequels to "Lost Boys," and I'll take a hard pass. They're also talking about doing a "reboot" -- meaning Hollyweird writers are so untalented, they can't come up with new ideas.
I miss Corey haim he was my generation and he was one of the best those were the best times in the best movies way before all those other vampire movies came out I will always love this movie
Also,Micheal is the real life son of Damien the priest in the exorcist
I knew he looked someone that I recognized 🤦♀️
So, the priest was the kid from "The Omen"? 😅😅
@@wilsonotis no
@@wilsonotis I get you, LOL.
@@shibaanimagaming4433 Re-read the original post - they called the priest Damien - Damien was the evil child, not the priest.
I must’ve watched this movie hundreds of times, I love it!
It's still 1 of my all-time favorite movies.
And the girl who worked in Max's video store who was to persuade in look after the mom for Max she was also a vampire but they edited her out of the movie
Born in 92 and watched probably like 98 scared the hell out of me and never got over it. That’s why I’m here 😭
I'm 33 I can't exactly remember how old I was when I watched this but man I loved the hair and looks of that time and wanted so bad to look that way
It's crazy cuz if you think about it Max is the first Lost boy
How about that Jami Gertz?
She is amazing!
She's also a billionaire
Yep, total smoke show.
As of today, she's considered the richest actor in the world 😲😃
Never noticed the order thing..cool
Great movie. Great soundtrack.
Did you know Jami is nearly a billionaire due to her mega rich husband 😮I live this film and love her❤well all of them ❤
I thought everybody inew that the two coreys were in A LOT of movies together! I honestly thought they did more than 9 films together 😂
One thing i never could stomach of all the damn vampires....mayby theres some story of grandpas in them words hes trying to tell you.
I love the detail about the bridge & the order of their deaths! I definitely did not know that.
Fact 2, 4 and 5 are new to me.
Interesting 🔥💯
As a teenager , I thought that Jamie Gertz was the most beautiful woman to ever live .
I had such a massive crush on her .
Excellent movie! They represented us so well. Yes, we are real and secretly all over.
I love this movie. I watch it today with my kids.
lol this being the first of the Corey movies should be common knowledge for fans of the 80's!
Another thing you may not know is the song Cry Little Sister was not made for the movie
David, (Kiefer Sutherland) was Ace Merrill in Stand By Me until he was turned into a vampire by Max
Wait you didn't know that Haim and Fieldman starred in plenty of films together 😂
I did know that they worked together. Just not the number and that The Lost Boys was their first collaboration.
@@livingthepast so if you knew why did you say you didn't??🤣 NM I believe you because of you was alive then they where impossible to miss from Lost Boys, License to Drive, Dream a Little Dream 1&2 Busted was cool also
@@67LOCsiNYCDream a Little Dream! I don't remember the plot... but I saw License to Drive in the theater, w my mom...my poor mom lol
So glad Star wasn't a boy in the movie as Jami Gertz is an amazing actor and stunningly gorgeous to this day
#1 it was fn awesome
AGREED !!!!
Im going to see cory Feldman in concert next month!!!
Awesome!
Heh heh heh 😏

..he’s gotta be doing it on purpose.
So was grand pa a vampire hunter?
I think grandpa was a vampire himself
I couldn't make heads nor tails with what grampa was all about. His role was confusing.
He for real could have been. The dude is out all night, says he can't stomach all the damn vampires, and for no other logical reason he backed his truck in through his house to kill Max at the end. Seriously, if he didn't know what was going on then what reason would he have to drive his truck through his house that night?
Here's another one...Keifer mentioned years ago that during filming he was staying up all night long partying, doing coke. Then show up early on set ready to work having no sleep the next day. Obviously not every night, but a fair bit.
Classic film loved the dog Nanook 🐺
Cheers for that Mate...All the best from the Southern Hemisphere...
The director also was inspired by Peter Pan how Peter Pan and *the lost boys* never grow up and thought what if they never grew up because they were vampires
So glad Star wasn't played as a boy. She was lovely and shaped my style as a teenager ❤
Rip corey Haim, rip corey Feldmans career
Cory Haim....The truth is coming to the light...rest easy ❤
I would have liked to see a non-2 Corey's version of this story.
I’m sorry but our vampires could’ve survived🤬🤯
Than You!!!!
With Gratitude! ! !❤⚜️❤
Blessed Be! ! !❤🙏❤
Also the director really wanted a blonde for Star's role, then Jami Gertz's manager got her an audition and dude changed his mind quick about the hair, and hired her... that was according to an interview i heard w Jami Gertz...i thought she was the most beautiful girl in the world, and i had a huge crush on the second Frog brother (Jamison Newlander? I think, i had such a crush i searched and found his name BEFORE GOOGLE)
License To Drive was another Corey² movie, i used to get all those Teen Bop magazines with teen heartthrob poster tear outs, then i switched to heavy metal magazines and put up Metallica posters, Skid Row, Suicidal Tendencies lololol
Oh i love this movie. Here from brazil 1987 i saw this movie 👍👏👏👏✌️✌️😎 and rock n roll
I was watching an interview with Jason and kieffer and they were on about a sequel was mentioned at the time but it would have been set before the lost boys around the time of the wan Francisco earthquake which I think could have been interesting but they said it was a 30 minute conversation and that was it,
Fantastic sound teack and a fun film.
#6. it was also the 2nd best vampire movie released that year behind Near Dark
Corey Haim and Corey Feldman were on drugs at the age of 13 that's sad.
they were both sexually abused by Hollywood bigwigs... thats sadder.
Here's something I never knew- Jamie Gertz was one hell of a lay.
(Story/Lay). 🎉
Gertz is also one of the wealthiest people on the planet rn.
I'm not sure how it would have worked with Star being a boy.
That would’ve been a dope ending!!!!
I hope they never remake this movie. After the abominably looking remake of The Crow ....who knows
My all time fav movie besides The Goonies as a kid!
When I heard the soundtrack recently and saw a young Kiefer Sutherland, I was just laughing, in my head he’s always been Middle Age 😂
I wish I could hear five things about this movie that I haven't heard over and over for the last 37 years !
The Lost Boys just went through in our Halloween World Cup and bet EXORCIST 😮
What?
You didn't know Corey Haim & Corey Feldman were in any other films together? Like, really?
Haha! Go listen again. I didn’t know it was their “first” film together. I knew they had made movies together.
@@livingthepast listen ? That's a large and inequitable demand for people in today's society 🙊
Santa Cruz was my favorite place to be In all of California. At least that was the case in the early 90s. Not sure what it’s like today.
Tthe murel on the wall is Jim Morrison. The people are strange song.
If it wasn't for Fright Night there would be no Lost Boys
Totally agree!!!! I was just thinking that over the weekend when I watched Fright Night.
Did you know that the Lost Boys are the first vampires in movies that actually love being what they are, and have no regrets. It is hinted in the title "Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. Its fun to be a vampire."
All vampire movies that came before it, always had vampires that had a little depression of being what they are. Whether it was their monstrous nature that bothered them, or living a lonely existence. The Lost Boys thrived on being brutal killers, and enjoyed living eternity with no worries or care.
Am I the only one who thinks Jamie Gertz looks like Jesse Spano's twin!??
I didn't know about the alternate ending.👍
Wow❤ that's really amazing
My favorite movie of all time. ❤❤❤Why is this a short? I'm sure you can find more tid bits to make a longer video. PLEASE❤
I’m confused. You say the “order they were killed” then there’s a suggestion that some of them survived. We all saw their deaths. I don’t think any of them survived
David is supposed to have survived.
The only one i didn't know about was #5
One of my favorite movies ❤
Awwww that would have been a cooler ending. ☹️
One of the best films ever made. Terrified my childhood so it can only be a good thing lol. Absolutely love this film ❤️
The sound track is awesome
Star was my crush on this movie still my favorite
Goddamn, never really noticed how hot Jamie Gertz was in this movie. 😮
I looooved this movie
Love that film💖💝❤️
The first one lets you know this is going in for a DEEP dive.
