This scene really shows the power of vampires and the power of their hypnosis, cleverness, mysteriousness, and persuasiveness.
@@justamediocreyoutubechanne4172will you move in with me.... here is the key to my cardboard box
This movie was incredibly brilliant. David made Michael believe the food was maggots and worms and when Michael realized it was just normal food, he wouldn't question the "wine" being blood. Therefore he didn't believe Star when she warned him let alone just witnessing David take a swallow. Absolutely brilliant writing.
Bingo, baby. I only realised that myself 2 years ago. It's some seriously neat reverse psychology.
Never realised how they probably knew Star would try to warn Michael. And so to make it he won't believe her, they do the same trick twice so that when she warns him he'll think she's trying to trick him. Smart.
HoshinoOtakuu They were saying how david tricked him with the rice saying it was maggots, and tricked him with the noodles saying they were worms. So when Star told him it was blood in the bottle, Michael took it as another trick and didn’t believe her.
this makes no sense since Star was never the one tricking him and seemed to fight against them.
@@BEARCRAB ...that's the point. I never said she was. I said the exact opposite.
idk man I feel like it's not a good decision to take a mysterious beverage after your crush's boyfriend has just tried to run you off a cliff, lured you into a cave, and then tricked you into eating maggots and worms. like those all seem like pretty big red flags
Has there ever been a better teenaged antagonist than Kiefer Sutherland in the history of cinema? His characters are the sum total of every prick who ever stalked a passive kid on a school playground.
Yeah, William Zabka had a good run playing douchebags too, but not as prolific as Kiefer.
He was quite a charasmatic and convicing actor. I don't know how old he is here, and sure his dad was in show-biz before him, but it was like he came out of nowhere, and was already a seasoned pro in his first few roles.
The Dark, I know right? My favorite character being Ace Merril in "Stand By Me"
I love that look of disgust Kiefer gives after the maggot trick. He laughs then looks ashamed of himself. That one little look sold me on the character and the whole film.
I noticed that too I think he genuinely liked Michael and didn’t wanna play him or his family but was following orders
I thought he was just annoyed that she seemed to like him. She was supposed to kill him remember?
@@k.t.1641 That's the interesting part, the complexity of feelings in the characters. It's like you're seeing a crack in the vampire facade, that somewhere inside, there is still a bit of a human there with a warm beating heart.
absolutely insane Kiefer Sutherland was only 19 when this movie was filmed
@@angelmacias1293 "When it was filmed"....You realize movies aren't filmed the same year they come out?
Drink everytime they say "Michael."
You'd be dead from alcohol poisoning in the first minute alone, not to mention them chanting it for the last 30 seconds or so lol
Christopher Frasher, I’m still alive, fkd up but still live with a little help from some rack
I know this is a VERY old comment, but the word "Michael" is said over 100 times in the movie, so... probably don't do that.
It breaks my heart that the prequel fell through. The script honestly looked pretty solid and everyone wanted to come back to reprise their role, we were robbed I say, absolutely robbed. Marko, Paul and Dwayne were supposed to have more lines 😭
My dad and I have made it a tradition to purchase Chinese food (noodles, rice of course) each time we watch this film as it's always been our personal favorite to view together. We haven't done it in awhile, but after seeing this clip I think I'll make it a point to have it happen again. Love this film, horror never disappoints :)
@@vaddix9980 yep! Pretty often since we've got it on blu-ray lol
It's so old, and yet it still rules!
It really doesn't age..... kinda like the vampires themselves!
It's the coolest vampire movie of all time.
I love how Kiefer didn't just ride his dad's coat tails.
Instead he put in the effort to show how talented his family really is.
Amazing actors
Yes, he did such a great job in this movie. Unforgettable and really scary!
Kiefer Sutherland and Alex Winter are among the very few men who could rock a mullet.
Still my favorite vampire movie since I first watched it as a wee baby.
"You don't like rice? Tell me Michael, how could a billion Chinese people be wrong"?
That's a good line! Actually, it's by far the best and most memorable line in the movie
"They're only Noodles, Michael."
cant eat chinese without quoting this scene
no sir
In the same way, lol. For years I always said the “maggots” part to everybody. And I knew not to associate with anyone who didn’t instantly get it…unless they accepted me making them watch it. It is definitely one of those films you just can’t grow tired of.
Wish there was a prequel to show how David and the rest of the group formed. I think this was covered in the comics.
The Lost Boys and The Craft are horror soulmates. Two teen horror cult classic films.
Both are amazing as capsules of their time as well. Wild teens of the 80s and gothic troublemakers of the 90s. Absolutely iconic
@@ccl7983 nah Scream is rated R. Lost Boys and The Craft are both PG-13 that makes them more of a teenage movie.
"Nick, would you like some bosghetti?" "I borrowed this trick from 'The Lost Boys'"
Thank goodness I saw 'What We Do in the Shadows' or else I would have never discovered this awesome movie. I definitely recommend 'What We Do in the Shadows;' it's hilarious.
Abaratarat same! Aside from being an awesome movie, it turned out to be a gateway to this and much more
RIP Brooke McCarter AKA PAUL! You will be missed. You and Corey party hard for me in heaven bro godbless.
Wassup GORN it's me JokergothamClown here and i'm not here on UA-cam plus I just got 71 subscribers on my channel
I like how concerned he was about Sutherlands character eating those worms, right after he was fooled into thinking he was eating maggots 🤣
It was Davids blood. Later in the movie he tells Michael "my blood is in your veins"
Truth is i dont think that was davids blood i think it was Max's blood cause Max was the head vampire and in order to make a half vampire human again you have to kill the leader which Max was exactly that. If it was davids blood Michael would have been cured after impaling him with those antlers Thats my theroy.
@@joeltinsman2041 the antlers missed David's heart though it broke my heart when Max turned his face over and he was just this fresh faced boy again
@@joeltinsman2041 late comment but David was not exactly leader of their pack or coven it was max the frog brothers state it has to be the leader
This movie was before my time, but that doesn't keep me from seeing how much better it is than more recent Lost Boy movies. Not to mention, you tell me that a gothy 80's biker gang were actually vampires and I could buy that. But a bunch of frat boy adrenaline junkies dicking around in an old mine like in The Tribe? Pffffft!
"Tell me Michael, how could a billion Chinese people be wrong!"
and
"Sorry about that, no hard feelings. "
Love those lines.
This movie has literally every 80s trope and I love it
Such a great movie. Loved it when I was a kid and love it still to this day.
David would beat the shit out of Edward Cullen
Vegeta solo he'd try, and he'd look bad ass, but twilight's vampires are seriously overpowered so i'd don't think he'd actually succeed tbh
Oh please, if David got to Edward Cullen he would be: Deeeaaaddd Meeeaattttt!!!!!
As much as I hate twilight I'm sorry but Edward would murk David, even being a vegetarian vampire
I HAVE THE BIGGEST CRUSH ON MICHEL
I totally forgot Bill S. Preston, Esq. was in this movie. Excellent!
David’s my favorite 😍
went from being a vampire to being the big boss Lol
This is deeper than many know.
@@Mike-xc7jr 2 years late, but he's probably talking about the common issue of peer pressure being referenced by this scene
I love these vague conspiracist comments that get everyone thinking about complete bullshit.
Rice do look like maggots, & noodles are basically worms.
They could've just told Micheal it was Kool-Aid.
Fun fact behind the scenes the wine was actually Hawaiian Punch I met Billy Wirth at a horror convention back in March 2016 he told me
I like how Paul is scarfing that box like it's a bag of chips! How badass?
Ted: Bill, what happened to you
Bill: Ted my friend, I'm new and improved
Ted: Bogus.
Bill:Ted What Happened to you
Ted: bill my friend, i'm John Wick
Bill:bogus.
Kiefer could be my vampire any day. So legendary, and the best mullet ever.
Kiefer is gorgeous but I'd have to go for Alex Winter. Between this, Bill and Ted, and Haunted Summer? Sign me up for the vampire with golden curls 🥺❤
it's the girl who wouldn't spare a square from Seinfeld
Yep, and she was also the erotic hotline girl that freaked out Kramer when he heard her voice
They rocked the mullets
Like my father always told me ever since I was little boy: Son, Always be a leader, never a follower! Point of this quote: Pause, pray, think, then act before making any choice in life.
Right on. Giving in too much to peer pressure whether child or adult is a sign of weakness.
This is the best old school vampire movie
Michael should've known what was up when they were making him see the food as worms and maggots lol hilarious scene
One and only time mullets actually looked good in movies
Ironically this scene always makes me hungry for rice and noodles
Watching this scene as I’m eating Panda Express’s chow mein lmao
Wow! So he was in another movie besides Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure! Rock on!
This dope it shows how David was testing Michael to see his reaction and he passed the test he didn't overreact about it otherwise they would've killed him.
No lol David knew star would warm Michael about the wine, so he pulled the maggot and worm trick so Michael wouldn't believe star when she told him it was blood
@shawnbass-ig2bv He wouldn't have believed her anyways plus she knew he would've been killed on sight David was testing him the whole time.
@@screwhead4life maybe he would have believed star about the wine maybe he wouldn't have but regardless David intended for Michael to be stars first kill, but max wanted Michael and Sam to join him and his boys so that their mother would too, David was never going to kill Michael
@shawnbass-ig2bv He was actually because even after the race he said "How far are you willing to go Michael" the whole time he was patiently waiting for the right time but in the end Michael gave in so now that he became half vampire he was still wanting for Star to kill him but since she couldn't because she liked Michael so even before he drank the wine he was being tested because if he would've over reacted and screamed like a girl and rejected the offer of the wine then either he would've forced star to kill Michael or he would've killed him with the rest of his boys.
their outfits is everything to me😻
The way they basically tricked him into becoming a vampire, convince Michael all they do is “pull pranks” or he’s seeing stuff and when they ask him to join them by drinking blood which he assumes is a joke
Star says, "You don't have too, Michael". Uh...yeah right!
I don't understand why Mike thought Star was tricking him. Star was the one defending him and telling David to leave him alone.
I just love it wen David says be one of us
2:16 "Drink some of this, Micheal!"
M favourite line in the whole movie.
Kiefer’s best role ever.
RIP Joel Schumacher
goddamn Kiefer was so hot in this movie.
From the lost boys to stand by me, to even a time to kill, Keifer Sutherland will go down in history as one of the greatest villians of all-time in movie history.
Time is so fast. I miss the time
probably the only man to ever look good with a mullet
Glad he wasn't. Keifer Sutherland was perfect for the part!
second... jack bauer was his best role.... perfect for both.. but jack was just his best..
I remember him saying in an interview that if he made you want to be with David and the Boys, then he'd done his job.
Silly Michael...
drinking questionable red liquid offered by an obviously devious, though charming, punk guy 😒😒😒😒😒😒
I would hope my daughter wasn't so easily deceived.
Oh well, still love ta Michael and have since I first saw this movie at the theater in' 87(?)
Damn,I'm kinda old.LoL
You are awesome !
It is so cool to find someone who is on the sane wavelength as me.😉
I was 15 when I saw it.It was the first and only rated R movie my Dad ever took me or my siblings too...LoL
ha!! my parents wouldn't let my brother and I watch an R-rated film until we were...oh I suppose 16 or 17. I remember we wanted to rent the film, "Poltergeist" and we were really close to getting it, until my mom saw that it was rated, "PG-13" (I'm Canadian) and I was only 12 and my brother was about 10. It didn't happen. However, in its place we rented the movie, "Better Off Dead" and it became literally, our favourite comedy of the 80's of all time!
Cool.. Bill from Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey brought chinese food! RAAAD!!
I love lost boys is my favorite movie
Let go micheal your one of us... Hell yea..Lost Boys Rock!😝
Keifer got the one dry bite of those noodles.
If you take a drink every time "Michael" is said in this movie - alcohol poising will occur.
What happened to the bottle?
It's probably worth a lot of money.
It's one of the main props in an extremely popular movie.
Man I'd love to have it.
“Tell me, Michael… How could a billion Chinese people be wrong?…”
Love that line 😎
Best Vampire movie ever made!! It never gets old, a timeless classic! I first saw The Lost Boys opening weekend in the theater when I was 14, absolutely love this film!!!
Saw this at the theater when I was 11. Honestly one of the best vampire movies ever made. Fright Night was excellent too but scenes like this that actually showcase the power of a vampire’s persuasion is expertly done and rarely seen in the vampire genre of film
Legend has it that keifer sutherland and the other vampires had in their contracts that they had to walk those mullets three times a day and had to feed them three helpings of grease a day 😂
If he hadn’t wanted to get with Jamie Gertz that bad, none of this would be happening, but I don’t blame him.
Love Kiefer...all around...
@@kionamcnutt8630 Correction. The Sutherlands are my favorite father-son pair.
Every time I order Lo Mein from a Chinese place, or eat rice, I think of this scene. LOL, Saw this as a kid, great scene, playing with the dude's head.
That's one pimped out bottle of Strawberry Boon's Farms :P Props to he Prop's Department for staying in budget
-How'd they do it? They went to...
Michaels.
Keifer made the mullet look good
One thing that always bothered me about this scene: the blood in the bottle is far too diluted and watery. It would be much thicker and darker.
Inferred from the fact that it was the point after drinking from that bottle that Michael began to change, and the reactions of David and his gang.
To Michael, and to us, it only looks like wine. Michael didn't believe it was blood.
sutherland should have kept that mullet untll today , sure the producers had Billy Idol in mind i guess
He's losing his hair, but they CGI'd it back in for Metal Gear.
I am really impressed with the video quality from 1987. Too bad that the NBA wasn't using the same cameras to broadcast their games.
“JahahaHa! WORMS!” Lol
Notice how laddie runs to star when mike drinks the blood? The boy is afraid
Everytime I see Jamie Gertz(Star in Lost Boys) I always here her saying ¨We got cows!¨ from Twister. She is hot though and still hot in her late 40ś
Kieffer Sutherland voice is mesmerizing, like a real vampire..
How are those maggots Michael how do they taste 😂
I love the part where he’s like “ Michael you’re eating maggots how do they taste” best vampire movie
Michael would've been great as a 3rd in Interview with the Vampire
I always knew Ace from Stand By Me was a vampire. He was way too evil to just be a normal guy.
Well whoever said these ain't your typical vampires that only drinks blood is right. They're eating regular food like normal people... amazing!
Why am I forever cursed to watch this clip when I eat Chinese food.
One of the movies that shows the hypnotic powers of the vampire. a rare thing to see on screen indeed.
Is that part of vampire lore? They can cause hallucinations? Pretty cool. Love this movie.
Kale P
yes indeed, we don't get to see it or hear of it very often but it's a very real said ability of the vampire.
Sure thing man, all the way back to Bram Stoker.
my thoughts exactly
