Bought one for myself finally after buying my teenage son one 4 years ago. His still going strong. Bought one for him because he kept losing victorinox. This one oddly is guarded. I'm a 2 hand open guy with a collection, bought the Kingsman just to see if I'd even carry a flipper. Not out much. I like Buck and Grohmann, can bench stone sharpen, don't need supersteel. I'm in a subdivision, not a Forester or farmer. Light duty flippers and folders are fine, fixed blade for anything else imo. After 2 weeks I'm thinking this knife really is a sleeper. And I'm thinking the clip carry is selling me on flippers. Maybe look at some a bit nicer in G10. After another 2 weeks carry, and hard research into flipper builds and teardown for cleaning etc, I've concluded the Kingsman really is a Sleeper. And it's all I need in a flipper. For the times I want to carry something a bit more dressy, I'll take my Buck 55. Or a Grohmann slip joint or 340s. After 1 year, what's your opinion on the Kingsman now ?
Thanks for sharing about your experiences with the Buck 311, I appreciate it. My experience has been very good thus far. I like the knife so much I bought several of them and gave them away as gifts and channel prizes. Take care and Cheers!
@@singingtoad one other thing I'll add is that a young, hardcore flipper knife guy gave me the heads up that the pivot on these typecally come overtightened. I backed mine off until the blade wobbled. Then tightened enough to get rid of wobble. A drop of cutting board oil on the pivot area, and life is good !
Just bought one for ten bucks at Canadian Tire, they are great for the car, I bought three of them, one for the Kayak. Maybe I’ll buy one and send it to Harold.😂👍
Just got one..nit knife savy so you made it easier 16.95!! Sale Save up for usa made ..I like it I am small woman so fits my hand for fire wood feather etc..thanks
I bought one a few years ago for less than $10. It's a nicely designed knife, but 420J2 is a very low end steel. I wouldn't pay any more than I did for one.
I guess Buck as well as a few other knife manufacturers do partners stuff like that, exclusively with certain retailers. Anyway, it's a nice little knife and I like it too...
@@singingtoad yes i like this one to for sur and i know buck, Gerber and some compagnie made it for Candian new law Thank's for you're reply God Bless You Brother blade
Mine is at least 3+ years old I use it every day for whatever, like prying out BBs or pellets out of pine board or making the meal..That is tough little knife and I recommend it to anyone who can buy one, because it's exclusive to Canadian Tire.. That's all I can say about it...
You’ve had a nice selection of budget blades to show 👍. I always like to see steel liners on non metal handles. Thought when I saw on the package 420J2 instead of 420hc it would be made overseas. I picked up a fairly good two dot 110 recently. Just waiting on shipping from U.S.
I haven't had the time to fully test the 420J2 steel and see how it compares against Buck's standard 420HC with Paul Boss heat treatment. Whenever I get around to it, I'll make a video about it...
When i buy mine it's sold as 12.99 at Canadian Tire to abd this week the Gerber Ripstop II as for 9.99 canadian tire store juste for you my friend blade
I don't hate the fact that a lot of Brands are made in China now, even if only partially, so long as the quality and warranty remains the same. I understand why they do it, outsourcing allows for budget friendly products...
Nice little Buck! I am partial to the brand, so wherever it's made is fine with me, though I do prefer USA made. Pilar is a Spanish (?) name, so the emphasis is on the 2nd syllable. Its ok, I have seen only a few pronounce it the correct way. In my mind, I still think of it as pie-lar. Thanks S Toad!
Thanks and yes, I agree with you about Buck knives. I also don't really care where they are made either. As for my Pilar, well I'm just going to call it my Chonky lil Boi from now on...lol
Very interesting but too much talk, you need to edit out repetitive comments. I don't like the 420 j2 as much as the 420 hc. It doesn't resharpen as easily. I really like the belly on this blade. Good for skinning. Yes mine locks up late too. I wonder if anything can be done about that.

I can't fold it closed! Seems broken
Buck knives that are USA made will have a little US Flag on the package and will be marked BUCK USA on the main blade and package as well.
Thanks very much for sharing that information. I appreciate it.

Nice folder, it's a shame though that so many brands are moving manufacture to China.
